Chapter 514 Departure

Sandy visited the ICU several times that day, and this was her last visit.

She stood by the bed, her hand gently tracing his face.

She drew a heart on the glass, whispering, "Goodbye, my love. I'll take our misfortune with me. Please wake up soon."

Tears fell, but she wiped them away, leaving with a heavy yet resolute heart.

The next morning, at the Hamilton Manor, Nora woke up to find her phone still on the video call. She was about to end it when Aaron appeared, greeting her with a "Merry Christmas."

Nora, surprised by his early call, asked, "You're up already?"

"Yes, your snoring last night was particularly soothing. I slept well but woke up early," Aaron replied.

Nora felt awkward, glared at him, and said, "I'm going to freshen up; I'll talk to you later."

"Don't hang up, just keep it on so I can see you anytime, anywhere," Aaron suggested.

"Do you not find that annoying?" Nora asked.

"Of course, it's not annoying," Aaron replied.

"But I do. I'm hanging up now," Nora said, and she ended the call abruptly.

She received numerous messages of blessings, glancing at them before replying to each one. After responding to all of them, she scrolled through her messages but didn't see anything from Sandy.

After some thought, she sent Sandy a message of holiday greetings. However, Sandy still hadn't replied.

Assuming Sandy was still asleep, Nora set her phone aside and went to freshen up.

It was Christmas Day.

She could hear playful noises coming from the yard.

After freshening up, Nora went downstairs. In the living room, only the butler and a few servants were present.

Upon seeing Nora, they respectfully greeted her, who smiled and wished them a Merry Christmas.

The butler informed her that breakfast was ready and suggested she go ahead and eat.

Nora replied, "I'll wait to have breakfast with Grandpa and Grandma."

The butler and the servants then excused themselves.

Nora sat on the sofa, watching the news for a while. By 7:30 a.m., she noticed that Adelbert and Flora had yet to come downstairs.

Puzzled, she asked the butler, "Could you please check on Grandpa and Grandma's well-being? I'm concerned they might be feeling unwell due to Kenneth's accident."

"Don't worry, I already checked on them earlier. They are waiting for the children to wake up and greet them before coming down," the butler reassured her.

Ah, that explained it!

Nora asked, "So, Grandpa and Grandma wait for the children to greet them before coming downstairs?"

"That's right," the butler replied with a smile.

Nora suddenly remembered the Christmas tradition observed in the household. The younger generation would rise early to greet the elders, who in turn would give them Christmas gifts. Adelbert and Flora were continuing this tradition.

Quickly getting up, Nora went to wake the four children, who had stayed up a bit late on Christmas Eve and were still sleepy when Nora called them.

Adelbert and Flora had prepared new outfits for the children. There were red sweaters and coats paired with green trousers. The four children stood together in their new clothes, resembling little angels.

Samantha and Millie were delighted, but Alex and Billy seemed a bit reluctant, finding the outfits too childish.

However, since Adelbert and Flora prepared the clothes, they quietly put them on.

Nora led the four children to Adelbert and Flora's room, where the couple was already dressed and seated on the sofa, waiting for them.

"Merry Christmas, Grandpa and Grandma," Nora smiled and wished.

"Great-grandpa, Great-grandma, Merry Christmas," the four children chimed in together.

"Very good," Adelbert exclaimed, turning to Flora. "Bring out the gifts!"

Flora promptly presented the gifts she had prepared earlier.

"Hold on a moment, I'll record a video," Adelbert said, taking out his phone. "I need to show Jacob that my granddaughter and great-grandchildren came to greet me early in the morning."

Nora chuckled and moved aside to give them space, but Adelbert insisted, "Nora, don't hide. Your Grandma also has a gift for you."

Nora was surprised and said, "I have one, too?" Despite her age, she was still receiving a gift!

"Of course," Flora replied. "It's your first Christmas at home, so we wanted to give you a gift."

Nora smiled and graciously accepted Flora's gift, saying, "Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma."

"You're welcome," Flora said, then cheerfully handed out gifts to the four children, who all thanked her in unison.

"You're all so well-behaved," Adelbert praised. He filmed the scene and looked extremely pleased. Once he had finished, he immediately sent the video to Jacob.

Expecting a call, he confidently stated, "Jacob will definitely call within a minute."

True to his prediction, Jacob sent a video call request less than a minute later. Adelbert deliberately waited a bit before answering, "Hello, Merry Christmas, Jacob."

Jacob coolly replied, "I don't want to talk to you. I'm looking for my great-grandchildren."

Adelbert snorted, "Be clear, whose great-grandchildren are they?"

"They are my future great-grandchildren!" Jacob declared.

Adelbert proudly remarked, "That's about right. Children, come here and say hello to Jacob."

"Great-grandfather Gordon, hello," the four children greeted in unison.

"Good children," Jacob's demeanor softened, and he coaxed, "I have gifts for you. Would you like to come and get them?"

Before the children could respond, Adelbert interjected, "We don't need your gifts. Either bring them over yourself or keep them until you visit Lindwood City."

"Okay," the children obediently agreed.

"You all look so nice today," Jacob complimented, assuming Nora had chosen their outfits.

Adelbert proudly stated, "Of course, I picked out the clothes!"

Jacob paused, then realized, "Did you choose their clothes?"

"Yes," Adelbert confirmed.

Jacob's tone suddenly changed. He scoffed, "No wonder the clothes are so ugly. These children look good in them, making the clothes appear nice. Would other children look good in them, too?"

"Jacob, don't belittle me. Anyway, they are all children of the Hamilton family, so I'll take that as a compliment," Adelbert retorted.

"Adelbert, you have no shame." Jacob scoffed.

"I'm just stating the truth," Adelbert explained.

Listening to their banter, Nora chuckled. Would the Hamilton Manor be livelier today if Kenneth hadn't had that accident?

Emma's matching results were due today.

Nora wondered what the outcome would be.

Ebenezer received the matching results at the hospital.
