Chapter 785 He Thought It Was Her
"Honey, let's continue!"
Edric put his phone aside, smiling as he wanted to continue.
Jenny held his hand. "Honey, your mother seems relentless in her pursuit of finding someone to take my place as your wife. Are we just going to let it go on like this?"
Hearing this, Edric's smile faded a bit. "No, I told you, as long as you get pregnant with my child soon, Mom will definitely accept you."
Jenny hesitated to speak.
She had already said that, given Fiona's prejudice against her, even if she got pregnant, Fiona might be nice to her during the pregnancy, but once the child was born, Fiona would still not treat her well.
Jenny suddenly thought of the method Nora and Becky had suggested.
It was like a guiding light in the darkness, igniting her hope.
Originally, Jenny felt a bit uneasy, but now, that feeling gradually disappeared.
Because it was Fiona who was wrong first, she deserved to experience sleepless nights.
Edric's kiss fell on Jenny's face again, and the temperature in the air rose once more.
Just as they were about to get into it, the sudden ringing of the phone interrupted them again.
Edric paused, his brows furrowing deeply.
Anyone would be angry if their intimacy were interrupted repeatedly.
Jenny's face was flushed, her breathing heavy.
"Honey, is it Mom calling again?"
"Ignore her, let's continue."
Edric pulled the blanket over their heads and resumed their intimacy.
The phone soon stopped ringing, but just a few seconds later, Jenny's phone rang.
"Honey, my phone is ringing." Jenny lifted the blanket, looking for her phone.
Edric's handsome face turned dark, full of frustration.
He grabbed Jenny's phone in anger, and when he saw the caller ID, he was slightly taken aback.
"Who's calling?" Jenny asked.
"My dad."
Jenny was also surprised and quickly sat up. "Then answer it."
"Okay."
Edric answered the call and put it on speaker so they could both hear.
"Dad," Jenny greeted.
"Jenny, is Edric with you?" Edward asked.
"Yes."
"Tell him to come back immediately."
Edward's tone was not good.
Jenny glanced at Edric. "What's wrong?"
"Fiona's heart is acting up again. She kept saying she felt unwell. Tell Edric to come back right away," Edward said.
It was the same excuse again!
They always used this excuse to make Edric go back.
Jenny bit her lip and mustered the courage to say, "Dad, if Mom is feeling unwell, take her to the hospital immediately. Edric isn't a doctor; going back won't help."
Edward probably didn't expect Jenny to say that, as she had always been an obedient and well-behaved daughter-in-law.
He was silent for a moment, his tone becoming more serious.
"Jenny, I know you have issues with Fiona, but no matter what, she is still Edric's mother. She's not in good health right now, so please, as the younger generation, be more considerate."
Jenny had too many grievances in her heart. Since she had already started, she decided to say it all.
"Dad, it's your indulgence that made Mom become more and more unreasonable. If one day she threatens to die unless Edric and I get divorced, would you agree to that, too?"
Edward was taken aback, his tone now tinged with anger.
"Jenny, I always thought you were a sensible child. It seems I was wrong. I told you Fiona is not in good health. Be more considerate. Why are you bringing up all these issues? Where is Edric? Let him take the phone!"
Jenny looked at Edric, seeing him frowning, seemingly displeased with how she had spoken to Edward.
"Dad, I'm coming back right away."
"Alright."
Edward hung up immediately.
Listening to the sound from the phone, Jenny felt a surge of grievance.
Watching Edric get out of bed and quickly get dressed, she asked, "Edric, do you think I was being unreasonable just now?"
Edric buttoned his shirt and sighed softly, "Jenny, I know you're upset, but you really shouldn't have spoken to my dad like that. Acting that way will only make the guilt he originally felt for you disappear."
Jenny bit her lip and stayed silent.
Edric thought she was in the wrong!
He thought she wasn't articulate enough, not diplomatic enough.
Maybe that was the real issue between her and Edric.
They weren't from the same social class, and their education had put their thoughts on different levels.
Jenny was pure and simple, unlike the sophisticated ladies from noble families who were cunning and diplomatic.
Jenny couldn't handle the complex relationships in a wealthy family!
"I'm going back. You should go to bed early and don't wait up for me," Edric said to Jenny before striding out.
As the door closed, the room still seemed to hold Edric's presence.
Jenny's nose felt inexplicably sour.
She looked up at the ceiling, trying to hold back her tears.
At that moment, Jenny had a sudden, wicked thought.
If Edward really got attracted to Betsy and betrayed Fiona emotionally or physically, that would be interesting!
But the thought quickly vanished.
Jenny wasn't that unscrupulous.
Even if Edward and Fiona didn't like her, she still hoped their family could be harmonious.
As for her relationship with Edric, they would have to resolve it themselves.
Jenny always believed that if her love for Edric were strong, no external factors would be a problem.
The only thing that could cause issues in their relationship would be themselves.
Jenny took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.
With Edric gone, she couldn't sleep, so she sat on the bed scrolling through her phone.
Suddenly, she saw an announcement from Edric's Galactic Media.
Galactic Media was terminating their contract with Ulysses!
Jenny was stunned, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
Just a few days ago, Galactic Media listed Ulysses as a key talent to nurture.
Jenny's mind flashed back to what Edric had said to her.
Edric had said that if he hadn't arrived at the club in time last night, who knew what she and Ulysses might have done.
Last night, Jenny had been a bit drunk and only remembered dragging Ulysses to dance.
Then Edric came and took her home.
Just because Ulysses danced with her, Edric declined the collaboration between Galactic Media and Ulysses.
Jenny's brows furrowed even tighter, her already gloomy mood worsening.
What was Edric thinking?
He could accompany Ursula to hotels, but she couldn't have a normal interaction with Ulysses.
At that moment, Jenny felt extremely irritated.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down and decided to message Ulysses first.
She didn't want to wrong Edric, so she needed to find out the situation first.
Jenny: [Ulysses, I saw the company's announcement. Why is the company suddenly terminating your contract?]
Soon, Ulysses called her.
