Chapter 904 I Was Her Fiancé
Emilio let go and patted Zephyr on the shoulder.
"Mr. Wright, you look a bit weak. You should work out more so you don't need a woman to protect you."
Emilio's pat landed right on Zephyr's injured arm.
Even though Zephyr's wound had healed, it still hurt when touched.
And Emilio didn't hold back, so Zephyr couldn't help but grunt.
Jane noticed Zephyr's discomfort and frowned.
"Emilio, be gentle. He's still recovering."
A mocking look flashed in Emilio's eyes. "He's already out of the hospital. It's just a minor injury. How can he be this weak?"
Seeing the provocation in Emilio's eyes, a spark of intrigue flickered in Zephyr's eyes.
Based on his gut feeling, Emilio's hostility was because of Jane.
Did Emilio like Jane?
"Emilio, who ticked you off? You're picking fights with everyone. Hurry up and give me the documents!"
Jane scolded Emilio playfully, urging him to hand over the documents.
Emilio glanced at Zephyr, said nothing, and turned to his car to retrieve a document bag, which he handed to Jane.
"Remember, you owe me one."
"Got it. You can go now."
Jane took the document bag and replied.
Emilio glanced at Zephyr again and couldn't help but ask, "Jane, are you really going to stay here?"
Before Jane could respond, Zephyr pulled her into his arms.
"Yes. Emilio, Jane forgot to properly introduce me earlier, so let me do it now. I'm Jane's fiancé, and we're currently living together."
Hearing this, Emilio's face darkened, and he glared at Zephyr without saying a word.
Zephyr just smiled. "Emilio, thanks for your help. Jane and I are heading upstairs. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
With that, Zephyr didn't look at Emilio again and walked away with Jane in his arms.
Jane waved at Emilio. "Drive safely."
Watching the two of them walk away, Emilio clenched his fists and kicked the front wheel of his car.
He had thought Jane would like a tough guy, but she ended up with a gigolo!
If he had known, he wouldn't have hesitated to confess to her just because he was younger!
If Jane could fall for a gigolo, maybe she could fall for him too.
Zephyr held Jane as they entered the elevator, then finally let go of her shoulder.
Jane glanced at him and asked, "Why did you suddenly tell others you're my fiancé?"
Zephyr looked at their reflection in the elevator wall and said, "Didn't you tell me to remember my role? This is called creating momentum."
Jane raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.
Zephyr said, "Starting tomorrow, we're officially going into battle. Shouldn't everyone around us know about our relationship?"
Jane nodded, teasingly, "Mr. Wright, I didn't know you could be so smart."
Zephyr glanced at her and asked, "Do you officers get paid well?"
Jane said, "Why do you ask?"
"That Emilio drives a Land Rover, which costs at least $300,000. If you officers don't get paid well, how can he afford such a luxury car?"
Jane raised an eyebrow and said, "Zephyr, are you implying that Emilio is corrupt?"
Zephyr remained noncommittal.
The elevator ascended quickly to Zephyr's floor.
Jane followed Zephyr out of the elevator and said, "Don't worry. Our police force is law-abiding. Emilio's car was a birthday gift from his dad last year."
So that was how he got the car..
Zephyr asked, "Is his family wealthy?"
"Yes, Emilio is quite well-off."
Jane explained Emilio's family background, "His dad and my dad are good friends. We've known each other since we were kids."
Zephyr listened closely as he opened the door.
Jane continued, "Originally, Emilio was supposed to take over the family business, but he had his own plans. He secretly switched his major to computer science in college instead of business administration like his dad wanted. After graduation, he joined the police force."
"Emilio is an only child. His dad was so mad about his decision that he almost had a stroke. But Emilio was determined, and his dad couldn't change his mind."
Zephyr tossed the keys on the table and took off his coat, a spark of intrigue in his eyes.
Judging by Emilio's actions, he probably joined the police force because of Jane.
Zephyr glanced at Jane and deliberately asked, "Emilio is quite handsome. He must be popular with the girls in your department, right?"
Jane laughed. "Yeah, Emilio's always been a hit with the ladies. But he's very aloof,either ignoring them or being super sarcastic, so even if he's good-looking, he's still single."
Zephyr raised an eyebrow, thinking Emilio's single status was probably not due to his aloofness or sarcasm, but because he had someone in his heart.
"You two grew up together, and you never developed feelings for him?" Zephyr asked casually.
Jane sat on the couch, flipping through the documents Emilio had given her, without looking up.
"I don't like someone who's younger than me."
So Jane thought Emilio was too young.
Zephyr smiled, poured her a glass of water, and sat on the couch.
Jane was engrossed in the documents, and he leaned in to look as well.
The documents Emilio provided were very detailed, listing the organizational structure of Medicovita Pharmaceuticals.
The detailed information of each department head was also listed.
Zephyr took a sip of water, looking at the documents. Although he didn't want to admit it, Emilio had done a thorough job and had been of great help.
"He's quite impressive, gathering all this information in just half an hour."
"Of course. He's a computer genius, always quick-witted."
Jane looked proud.
Zephyr felt a bit annoyed.
He didn't want to hear Jane praise Emilio in front of him.
"I'm going to take a shower."
Jane nodded, not paying him much attention, buried in the documents.
Zephyr frowned at her serious expression.
If he had known Emilio and Jane weren't just ordinary colleagues, he wouldn't have asked Jane to seek Emilio's help.
Zephyr could find computer experts himself; he didn't need Emilio to gain favor with Jane.
Jane was unaware of Emilio's feelings.
She looked at the documents thoughtfully.
A moment later, Jane sent Emilio a message.
Jane: [Do me another favor. Find the vulnerabilities of the heads of the key departments.]
Having leverage over them would allow them to control the situation when needed.
Emilio quickly replied.
Emilio: [Are you tempting me to commit a crime?]
Jane chuckled and typed a response.
Jane: [Don't be so particular. It's after work hours. Can I buy information from the hacker god Zane?]
Emilio had another identity as the hacker god Zane, who was quite famous in the hacker community.
As a police officer, Emilio's actions were limited.
But as a hacker, it was different.
So, in private, Emilio had helped the police force a lot using his hacker identity.
But not many people knew about this identity.
