Chapter 804 Let the Parents Reconcile First
Edric coaxed and tricked, and Edward glared at him. "You little rascal, are you pressuring me?"
Edric flattered, "Dad, you're so smart; no wonder your son is smart, too."
Edward coldly replied, "Enough, you don't have to beat around the bush. I told you, Betsy and I are just good friends. As long as your mom doesn't make unreasonable trouble, I won't divorce her."
Edric raised an eyebrow. "If Mom makes trouble, you should just calm her down. Remember, No matter how charming the woman outside is, they don't belong to you."
Edward glared at him again but didn't respond.
Seeing the situation was under control, Edric smiled and said, "Let's go see Mom."
Edward frowned slightly but ultimately said nothing and followed Edric back to the hospital room.
In the hospital room, Fiona's emotions had already calmed down under Jenny's guidance.
However, when she saw Edward come in, her face still remained stern.
"Dad," Jenny called out to Edward.
Then her gaze fell on Edric's face, her eyes sparkling like stars.
Edric noticed her happiness and raised an eyebrow.
'It seemed Jenny and Fiona had a pleasant conversation in the room.'
'I would ask Jenny about it later,' He thought.
For now, he needed to help Edward and Fiona reconcile first.
Edric glanced at Edward, giving him a look and signaling that he would comfort Fiona.
Edward was indeed tired after all the fuss due to his age.
He walked to the bedside, sat down, and held Fiona's hand.
"Alright, stop making a fuss. You know better than anyone how I've treated you all these years. I would never go out looking for another woman. You really misunderstood."
Fiona kept her stern face but didn't speak, though she wasn't as hysterical as before.
Edric noticed Fiona's softening and gave her an out.
"Mom, that's enough. Dad didn't cheat. He treasures you so much. Just think about it, he even slapped me for you. You have no idea how cold my heart felt at that moment."
Mentioning this, Fiona's eyes flickered, and her expression softened a bit more.
Edward's consistent affection over the years served as the testament to his love for her.
However, precisely because of this, the scene at Oasis Lounge had a stronger impact on Fiona.
'However, Jenny also said that sometimes what you see with your own eyes isn't necessarily true.'
'Maybe it was just a misunderstanding.'
Thinking of this, Fiona's resentment dissipated a bit more.
Standing beside Edric, Jenny was surprised to hear his words.
'Edward actually slapped Edric.'
'What had happened to make Edward hit Edric?' She thought.
Noticing Jenny's inquisitive look, Edric put his arm around her waist.
"Honey, it's really tough for me. In front of you, I'm a jerk. In front of my parents, I'm an ungrateful son. It's really not easy for me."
There was a hint of grievance in Edric's tone, and Jenny smiled involuntarily, her heart softening.
She hadn't been happy lately, and she believed neither did Edric.
It was indeed tough for him.
But fortunately, things were resolved satisfactorily.
Fiona realized her mistake and wouldn't ask her and Edric to divorce anymore.
Fiona, on the hospital bed, also figured things out.
But her face still remained stern.
She pulled her hand out of Edward's. "For the sake of our son and daughter-in-law, I won't hold it against you. But if you think I'm old and unattractive, you can just tell me directly. I won't force you to stay with me."
Hearing this, Edward frowned. "There you go again, talking nonsense. I never think you were unattractive. I only went out to listen to music because you nagged me every day. If you nag less, I won't go out as much."
Edward's words were reasonable, but they still sounded uncomfortable.
Fiona glanced at him, about to get angry again.
Jenny quickly said, "Dad, Mom won't nag you about me and Edric anymore. Right, Mom?"
Fiona glanced at Jenny, seeing her bright eyes, and thought of how she had wronged Jenny. So she restrained her temper and responded with a stern face.
Edward was a bit surprised.
He didn't expect Fiona to agree with Jenny.
'It seemed Fiona and Jenny had talked.'
'Fiona had truly accepted Jenny.'
'That was good.'
'Fiona wouldn't nag me endlessly anymore.'
Thinking this, Edward said nothing more.
A family storm finally subsided.
Edric smiled, holding Jenny tighter, and sighed, "Suddenly, I feel very happy!"
Jenny glanced at him, her eyes blinking.
Edric said, "Honey, do you feel happy with our family together?"
Jenny smiled. "Very happy."
Edric leaned down and kissed her on the cheek. "Yes, extremely happy."
Jenny didn't expect him to do this in front of Fiona and Edward, and her face instantly turned red.
"What are you doing? Mom and Dad are still here."
Edric raised an eyebrow, glancing at Fiona and Edward. "So what? They know everything."
Jenny laughed, reaching out to pinch Edric's arm.
"Stop joking!"
"Mom, look how mean your daughter-in-law is?"
Watching Jenny and Edric's playful banter, Fiona couldn't help but laugh.
"Edric, treat your wife well, and let us have a grandchild soon!"
"Definitely!"
While the Bishop family was enjoying their time together, the maternity ward at Imperial City Hospital was tense.
Sandy was in labor.
Her cervix had dilated, but there was still sometime before delivery.
Lying on the bed, Sandy's face was covered in sweat from the contractions.
Nora stood beside her, holding her hand and constantly comforting her.
Watching the midwife's series of delivery procedures, Nora asked, "Sandy, my brother wants to come in and accompany you. Should I let him in?"
"No, Nora, I don't want your brother to see me in such a messy state." Sandy quickly refused.
She could endure the pain alone and didn't want Kenneth to be anxious with her.
Another reason was that Sandy felt she looked extremely ugly right now and didn't want to leave a bad impression on Kenneth.
Nora didn't insist because she had given birth before and understood how messy it could be for a woman in labor.
Although having the husband accompany could comfort the wife, it could also easily leave some psychological shadows for the husband.
In severe cases, it might affect their future sex life.
So Nora stayed by Sandy's side instead of Kenneth.
This labor lasted for over ten hours.
By the next morning, the maternity ward was filled with the loud cries of a newborn.
The baby was finally born.
