Chapter 1060 Standing Up for Him
Samantha locked eyes with Robert, totally unfazed. "My parents taught me how to treat people right. So, Mr. Gardner, you've been around the block; didn't your parents ever tell you not to act all high and mighty just 'cause you're older?"
She was basically calling him out for being rude. Robert's face went pale. "What do you mean, acting superior? Am I that ancient?"
Samantha jumped on it. "Not at all. Seems like you still got a lot to learn, like basic manners and stuff."
She said it all calm and cool, but there was a sting in her words.
Robert was fuming. "Do you even know who I am? How dare you talk to me like that?"
Samantha's eyes sparkled with a bit of mischief. "Yeah, I know. Didn't I just call you Mr. Gardner? Looks like you're not that old, but your hearing's kinda shot. No wonder you can't appreciate a great singer like Wesley."
Wesley, who was watching the whole thing, grinned as Samantha stood up for him.
He was really touched that the girl he liked had his back.
Robert was beyond pissed. He'd been in the music biz forever and never got disrespected like this.
Just then, the restaurant manager, Uriel Perez, who knew Robert, rushed over after hearing the ruckus. "Mr. Gardner, what's going on here?"
Seeing Uriel, Robert immediately barked, "Mr. Perez, isn't Gourmet restaurant supposed to be high-end? How can just anyone waltz in here? Get them out, so they don't ruin my meal."
Robert was a regular and a big shot in the music industry, so Uriel naturally tried to calm him down and then looked at Wesley.
Uriel was about to ask Wesley to leave, but when he turned and saw Samantha, his smile froze. "Miss Gordon? What brings you here?"
The staff had only mentioned Robert and Wesley causing a scene; they hadn't said Samantha was there too.
"Mr. Perez, is Ryan around?" Samantha asked sweetly, looking all innocent and charming.
"Mr. Woodhouse isn't here today," Uriel quickly replied with a smile.
"Oh, then could you ask someone I don't like to leave, so they don't ruin my meal?" Samantha smiled warmly.
But Uriel didn't dare slack off. Samantha was the princess of the Gordon Family and Ryan's favorite sister.
If Samantha wanted to tear the place down, Ryan wouldn't say a word against it. Heck, he'd probably hand her the tools with a smile.
"Of course, who do you want me to ask to leave?" Uriel quickly asked.
Samantha glanced at Robert, still smiling. "I think our Gourmet Restaurant is too small and not quite suitable for Mr. Gardner to dine here, so let's not serve him in the future, okay?"
Samantha used the sweetest tone to kick someone out. She was clearly a beautiful and elegant woman, but she had an aura that demanded respect.
Uriel had a bad feeling earlier. Now, hearing her words, he felt even more conflicted. After all, Robert was also a regular and had a good relationship with him.
Uriel had no clue what Robert did to tick off Samantha so bad that she wanted him banned from Gourmet Restaurant.
Even though Uriel felt stuck, he couldn't go against Samantha's wishes. He gave Robert an apologetic look. "Sorry, Mr. Gardner, you'll have to find somewhere else to eat."
Robert's face went dark. He pointed at Samantha, fuming. "Mr. Perez, who is she that you'd listen to her over me?"
Uriel replied, "Mr. Gardner, she's the daughter of Youston's richest man, Aaron, and our boss's sister."
Robert was stunned for a second before it hit him—he'd messed with Aaron's daughter. He thought Samantha was just some random fan, but she was way more than that.
The whole scene had caught the attention of everyone around.
Robert, feeling humiliated in front of Samantha, knew this would blow up and make him look bad. He tried to save face.
"So, it's Miss Gordon. I didn't recognize you." Robert's tone shifted from cocky to way more humble. "Wesley works for your dad's company, so I get why you're defending him. But I still gotta say, Wesley didn't graduate from a proper music school, and his songs feel kinda downbeat, missing that heroic vibe guys from Chrisland should have. I hope the company steps up his training and doesn't just chase money from female fans."
Even though Robert was more respectful to Samantha, he still threw shade at Wesley.
Samantha smiled lightly, staying cool. "Mr. Gardner, so what if Wesley didn't graduate from a proper music school? Doesn't mean his songs aren't good. The market decides. Just check his album sales to see how well he's doing, right? I hope Mr. Gardner can keep an open mind and not get stuck in old ways. That's how our music can connect with the world and grow."
Samantha's words were sharp but fair.
Robert's face twisted again as she called him out for being stuck in the past.
"And another thing," Samantha went on, "What do you mean Wesley lacks heroic spirit? Why tie a guy's singing style to his masculinity? His songs might not be your jam, but he's got plenty of male fans too. Are you saying those guys are all effeminate?"
Robert clamped his mouth shut, not daring to say a word. Saying something like that would get him roasted by the public.
"Mr. Gardner, everyone has their own tastes. Can you guarantee everyone loves your songs? Should I post online to see if more young people prefer you or Wesley?" Samantha's words were on point, leaving no room for Robert to save face.
Robert's expression turned sour. "Miss Gordon, even though you come from a high place, you can't use your status to talk down to me and erase my contributions to music."
Samantha smirked slightly. "I could say the same to you. Don't use your seniority to crush new talent. Society needs to move forward, and music needs variety. Someone who refuses to embrace new things will eventually get left behind."
