Chapter 561 I Should Get Engaged To Nora

At the Hamilton Mansion.

After dinner, Ebenezer called Howard, Nora, and Aaron into the study to have a discussion.

"Howard, Nora, I have something to discuss with you," Ebenezer said directly. "Aaron, you should be aware that our company is currently facing the issue that multiple projects have been snatched by competitors, and the board is starting to become dissatisfied with me. Some are becoming power-hungry. I must come up with a solution in time."

Ebenezer paused, scanning Howard and Nora's composed figures, and said, "Howard, Nora, both of you are children of the Hamilton family. Kenneth has been in a coma, and we must prepare for the possibility that he may never wake up. So, I wanted to ask you both, if Kenneth doesn't wake up, which one of you can take over his position?"

Howard and Nora were taken aback, exchanging a glance and furrowing their brows. Both were medical professionals, not skilled in finance, and naturally they were not adept at managing a company.

"Dad, Kenneth will definitely wake up someday," Nora said.

Ebenezer replied, "One must be prepared for all eventualities. If Kenneth doesn't wake up, then whom of you can lead Hamilton's Group next?"

Nora naturally understood this logic. She fidgeted with her fingers, unsure of how to respond.

"Dad, you know I'm not interested in business. If you hand the company over to me, I'm afraid I'll disappoint your expectations," Howard admitted truthfully.

Nora added, "Dad, I'm even less capable. I'm a girl and not interested in business."

Ebenezer looked at them and sighed. "I know this is a bit difficult for you. But things have come to this point, and one of you must step up to take over the company. You surely don't want me to hand over the group to your uncle, do you?"

Hearing this, Howard and Nora exchanged a glance, both of them shying away from the responsibility.

Seeing their hesitation, Ebenezer sighed and glanced at Aaron, who had been silent the whole time.

"Aaron, do you have any good suggestions?" Ebenezer inquired.

Aaron replied, "I do have an idea."

"What might that be?" Ebenezer asked.

"I propose that I should get engaged to Nora," Aaron suggested.

Upon hearing this, Nora widened her eyes in surprise.

Aaron said, "Regardless of who leads Hamilton's Group, the top priority is to stabilize. Our engagement, is the most effective and quickest solution."

"Once we are married, our families' resources will be shared. The Gordon family will do everything to help Hamilton's Group through this crisis. And those who seek power will have to consider whether their strength can match up against the Gordon family."

Aaron's words made sense, giving Ebenezer hope.

He looked at Nora, asking, "Nora, do you have any objections?"

Nora fidgeted with her fingers, not answering immediately.

In reality, she had no objections because she had already decided to be with Aaron forever.

However, they had agreed to give each other a year. It had only been a few months, and he was already proposing to her.

'Is he deliberately taking this opportunity to do so?' she thought.

Before she could speak, Howard interjected, "Aaron, your suggestion isn't just for the benefit of the Hamilton family. I feel like you're doing this for Nora."

Upon hearing this, Aaron responded, "No, Nora and I are on the same page. She has been waiting for me to propose, and now I'm just advancing our engagement announcement."

Nora thought, 'What does he mean?'

'It seemed like I am eagerly looking forward to marrying him.'

She glanced at him and retorted, "Who said I want to marry you?"

Aaron looked at her. "Nora, don't you truly want to marry me?"

Nora hesitated. Before she could respond, Aaron added, "Then I'll marry into the Hamilton family."

Everyone was taken aback.

Ebenezer chuckled and said, "Nora, Aaron is a good man. You should agree. We'll find a suitable time to announce your engagement."

Nora blushed. She glanced at Aaron and said, "Okay."

Aaron, beside her, felt completely relieved.

He appeared calm on the surface, but only he knew how joyful he was inside.

As Howard has said, his proposal undoubtedly harbored ulterior motives.

He saw this as an opportunity to expedite the process of their marriage.

At last, he could marry the one he loved!

"Aaron, when do you think would be the most opportune time to announce your engagement?" inquired Ebenezer.

After a brief contemplation, Aaron responded, "There is a charity gala in two days; perhaps we should make the announcement then."

Ebenezer pondered for a moment and said, "Okay. However, I might have another engagement that day."

"It's no big deal. If you trust me, please entrust me with the arrangements," Aaron stated.

Ebenezer naturally had faith in his organizational skills.

"Then it's in your hands," Ebenezer said.

"Okay." Aaron smiled gently, casting a fond glance toward Nora.

As Howard listened to the conversation among the three, he came up with an idea.

He said, "Dad, I actually have an idea, too."

"What idea?" Ebenezer asked curiously.

"The Remington family has always wanted me to marry Evella. I can get engaged to her to stabilize the company," Howard quickly suggested.

Ebenezer paused and nodded. "You make a valid point."

"Howard, Evella has no interest in you. I think you should wait a bit longer so as not to cause any unpleasantness between the families," Aaron interjected hastily.

'What is Howard up to?' Aaron thought.

The most important thing now was to finalize the engagement between him and Nora.

He must not cause any trouble!

"Feelings can be nurtured over time. Besides, how do you know Evella has no interest in me? We've made progress during this time," Howard retorted, displeased.

Aaron suggested, "Is that so? Why don't you call Evella right now and ask if she's willing to marry you?"

Howard thought, 'I'm not that confident!'

'And that's why I used pressure from the elders first.'

'Aaron was probably worried that I'd delay his engagement.'

Howard silently noted this unpleasant experience.

"Alright, Howard. I'll keep your proposal in mind. For now, let's announce Nora and Aaron's engagement first," Ebenezer said.

He had always wanted Howard to marry Evella, but Howard had always disagreed.

Now, it seemed that Howard had come around and was willing to marry Evella.

That suited him just fine.

However, the Remington family might not necessarily agree now.

After all, Emma had always been against this marriage.

Maisie also had to consider the family's reputation. It was said that she was already planning to find another suitable husband for Evella.
