Chapter 915 Commending Her Sharp Senses
Jane didn't deny it. "Yeah, Mr. Gordon's a big shot in the business world. If he knows Finnegan and can introduce us, that'd be a huge help."
Zephyr straightened up. "Jane, I've told you before, I'll figure it out myself. I don't want to always be seen as useless, relying on others."
Jane glanced at Emilio, who was watching from a distance, a spark of intrigue in her eyes.
"Zephyr, did Emilio say something to you?"
Zephyr was silent for a moment. "It's not about anyone else. I just want to see if I can close this deal on my own."
His face was clear and determined.
Jane nodded. "Alright, you're the boss. I'll follow your lead."
Zephyr smiled slightly and glanced at Aaron and Gabriella.
"Who's the woman next to Mr. Gordon? His secretary?"
Jane's expression turned serious.
"No, she's his business partner."
Jane's intuition told her that Gabriella didn't see Aaron as just a business partner.
At that moment, someone came over to chat with Zephyr.
Jane thought for a moment and stepped aside to call Nora.
She felt it was necessary to give Nora a heads-up.
The call connected quickly, and Nora's clear voice came through.
"Jane?"
"Yeah, Dr. Smith, are you still in Hchilia?"
"Yeah, did something happen again?"
Nora's voice was a bit tense.
Jane quickly said, "No, Zephyr's recovering well. Thanks again for your help."
Nora laughed. "Glad to hear it. No need to be so formal."
Jane smiled slightly and glanced at Aaron and Gabriella, who were inseparable in the distance.
"Dr. Smith, I'm at a party with Zephyr and ran into Mr. Gordon, so I thought I'd give you a call."
Nora was a bit surprised. "Oh, you're at a party with Zephyr?"
"Yeah, Zephyr's taken over a company in the Wright family. He might not be a doctor anymore and is going into business."
Nora said, "I don't know whether to feel sorry or happy for him."
Jane smiled. "Anyway, being alive is the most important thing."
"Indeed."
Jane changed the subject. "Mr. Gordon's here with a business partner named Gabriella."
Nora said, "Oh, I know. Aaron told me."
Jane was silent, hesitant to speak.
She felt that this call might seem a bit presumptuous.
Nora and Aaron had a good relationship.
Suddenly calling Nora like this seemed like she was trying to stir up trouble between them.
"Jane, did you see something?"
Nora was perceptive and probed when she noticed Jane's silence.
"No, Mr. Gordon's a gentleman," Jane quickly said.
Nora said, "Jane, you wouldn't call me for no reason. Tell me, what's going on?"
Jane pondered for a moment and said, "It's nothing really. I have a feeling Gabriella is interested in Mr. Gordon, so I called to give you a heads-up."
"After all, you and Mr. Gordon are living apart now, and men, especially someone as distinguished as Mr. Gordon, have many women eyeing them."
Nora was silent for a moment, then said, "I understand. Thanks for the reminder."
Jane said, "No need to thank me. Just don't think I'm meddling."
Nora said, "I trust your intuition."
Jane felt a bit uneasy and added, "But, Dr. Smith, please don't get paranoid because of what I said. If this call causes problems between you and your husband, I'd feel really guilty."
Nora laughed. "It won't. I trust Aaron."
Hearing this, Jane felt a bit relieved. "That's good."
"If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now?"
"Okay."
Nora paused. "Jane, please keep an eye on them at the party for me. Don't let Aaron fall into someone else's trap."
"Of course."
On the other end, Nora hung up, her expression becoming more serious. It was morning in Hchilia. Seraphina came over to call her for breakfast.
Nora looked at her and asked, "Seraphina, after learning from me for so long, can you treat Hugo on your own now?"
Seraphina was stunned. "Mrs. Gordon, do you want me to take over Hugo's treatment now?"
Nora nodded. "Yes, I need to go back to Chrisland. I'll leave things here to you."
Seraphina said, "Why do you suddenly need to go back to Chrisland? Did something happen at home?"
Nora smiled slightly, not wanting to say more, "It's nothing major."
Just that Aaron might be getting lured away, and she needed to go back and bring him back.
On the other side, Jane hung up and touched her nose. Nora said she trusted her intuition. At this moment, Jane hoped she was overthinking it. She didn't want anyone to interfere with Aaron and Nora's relationship.
"Were you calling Dr. Smith?" Zephyr came over.
"Yeah."
"You think the woman next to Mr. Gordon has bad intentions?"
Zephyr was also perceptive.
Jane glanced at the two people in the distance again. "Not sure, I hope I'm overthinking it."
Zephyr looked at her and said, "You're a cop; your senses are sharper than others. If you think that woman has bad intentions, then it's probably not just overthinking."
Hearing this, Jane said, "Zephyr, are you complimenting me or insulting me?"
Zephyr was stunned. "Of course, I'm complimenting you. How did you hear an insult?"
Jane raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you implying that I'm a bit oversensitive?"
He really hadn't thought that far! She sure could make connections!
Zephyr couldn't help but tease, "Now that you're my assistant, you need to be a bit sensitive."
Jane rolled her eyes at him. "If you don't want me to ask Mr. Gordon for help, you better think about how to impress Finnegan."
Talking about business, Zephyr straightened up and instinctively looked towards the exit of the banquet hall. At this moment, Finnegan appeared. He was dressed in a well-fitted dark suit, exuding elegance and nobility.
"He's here."
Jane saw him too and immediately became more alert. The two of them quietly watched Finnegan, observing him warmly greeting a group of people.
Emilio walked over with a glass of wine. "Did you see Finnegan?"
"Yeah," Jane replied.
Emilio took a sip of his wine and deliberately taunted, "Then why are you just standing there? Do you think you can close the deal by just standing around?"
Zephyr glanced at him and said, "Thanks for the reminder. I know what I'm doing."
Zephyr adjusted his clothes and then walked towards Finnegan.
Emilio snorted, "Such a show-off. I want to see how he plans to do business with Finnegan."
Jane frowned slightly and said, "Emilio, if you don't want to help, just step aside. Don't jump around here, it's annoying."
