Chapter 57 He didn't want to Marry Her
<Chapter>Chapter 57 Force </Chapter>
The light was a bit too harsh.
Nora’s brows furrowed slightly when she opened her eyes to the sight of Aaron.
"Can you turn off the lights?" she asked.
Snapping back to reality and realizing he was staring, Aaron quickly averted his gaze.
Just as he thought to switch off the light, a sudden cramp seized his calf.
He winced involuntarily and reached down to rub the muscle.
Hearing the commotion, Nora sat up with concern. "What's wrong?"
"Just a cramp in my calf." Aaron's brow knitted as he massaged the area.
Nora got up, sat down by the bed, and swatted away his hand to feel his calf. "Who told you to get up so quickly? It's a muscle strain."
She then began to knead his calf. Her nimble fingers worked their way up, her touch both skilled and gentle.
The air was filled with her unique scent – intoxicatingly pleasant.
Aaron glanced at her, and the muscles that should have relaxed suddenly tensed.
In the dark of night, something within him stirred powerfully.
Nora felt the tension in his muscle and frowned. "Why is it still so tight? Is it really painful?"
Her clear eyes were like tranquil lakes.
Aaron swallowed, shifting his gaze away.
"A bit," he admitted.
But it wasn't pain he felt; it was a tingling desire.
Nora kept massaging him until she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.
Her hands paused, and she asked, "Is that better?"
"Yeah, it's good," Aaron replied, trying to calm his emotions.
Nora stood up, intending to head upstairs.
"What's wrong? Did you get a cramp too?" Aaron asked with concern, noticing her pallor.
"It's nothing. You should get some sleep," she said briefly, her period likely having started. She had to go upstairs for feminine supplies.
After she closed the door, the scent of her perfume seemed to linger in the air.
Aaron exhaled slowly and lay down.
It wasn't long before the door opened again, and Nora re-entered.
Aaron glanced at her as she held her abdomen. "What’s up? Stomachache?"
"It's nothing. Let's just sleep," Nora said without elaborating, then turned off the light and lay on the couch.
The night was silent.
The silence in the room was profound, punctuated only by the distant, unnamed chirps of insects outside.
Aaron was restless, wide awake. A sliver of moonlight peeked through the window, enough for him to see Nora massaging her lower belly with small, gentle motions.
It dawned on him—it was that time of the month for her.
"Nora, do you want to come up and sleep on the bed? I promise—" he started.
"Shut up and sleep," she cut him off, her voice sharp as a knife.
Aaron pursed his lips, berating himself for butting in where he wasn't wanted.
He closed his eyes, willing sleep to come.
In the dead of night, his light sleep was broken by the sound of Nora getting up to use the restroom. He opened his eyes and waited. When she returned, she seemed groggy, her eyes half-closed. To his utter disbelief, she walked straight to his bed and climbed in.
She crawled into his bed in the middle of the night!
Nora's eyes were shut tight as her arm found its way around his waist, and she settled into a cozy spot against him to sleep.
She was just going to cuddle up to him and fall asleep?
Aaron's Adam's apple bobbed, feeling the soft warmth in his arms and inhaling her delicate scent. His muscles tensed reflexively.
Was she sleepwalking?
"Ugh, my stomach hurts," she murmured, her body writhing uncomfortably before she placed his hand on her lower belly.
The soft touch of her skin made Aaron catch his breath.
He looked down at her serene face, his heart pounding. He did tell her she could sleep in his bed, but he expected her to keep her distance!
This close embrace was almost like a seduction.
A fire seemed to light inside Aaron, spreading wildly through him.
A soft moan reached his ears, "Rub it, please."
Aaron was flabbergasted.
What did she think he was? A personal masseur?
Yet, he closed his eyes, pushed away the less than pure thoughts, and started to rub her belly gently.
The woman in his arms let out a satisfied sigh and drifted back to sleep with a faint smile on her lips.
The next morning.
Birds chirped on the branches, their songs coaxing Nora from her hazy slumber.
Beside her was a furnace of warmth. Too hot.
Nora blinked open her eyes and was met with the peaceful face of a sleeping man.
Aaron?
She blinked in confusion, half-convinced she was dreaming.
She closed her eyes and opened them again.
He was still there.
And she... she was hugging his waist, with his hand still resting on her belly.
Nora caught her breath, a whirlwind of confusion inside her.
How had she ended up in his bed?
Could it be... had he taken liberties in the night?
No, it couldn't be. He was physically impaired, his legs not strong enough to carry her.
The only explanation was that she had climbed into his bed herself.
But why would she do that?
Probably because of stomach pain.
Nora's expression changed rapidly. She saw Aaron was still asleep, eyes closed, and quickly, gently removed his hand from her body and got out of bed.
"Nora, do you often sleepwalk, or were you trying to take advantage of my situation?" A lazy voice teased from behind her.
Nora's body tensed, and she whipped around to glare at him. "Thomas, just who is taking advantage here? I’m a woman, and you're all over me, hugging and holding. And I haven't even settled the score with you yet!"
Aaron raised an eyebrow and slowly sat up.
"First, given my disability, you must have climbed into bed yourself because I couldn't have carried you. Second, don't assume just because you're a woman that you're the one at a disadvantage. Last night, you clung to me, pulling my hand to massage you. To endure the treatment, I had to bear with great humiliation."
Nora was speechless.
She couldn't listen anymore – he was painting her as some kind of female tyrant.
"Fine, even if I did take advantage last night, you took advantage of me first. Let's call it even, shall we?"
Aaron arched a brow, "When did I ever take advantage of you?"
“You did. Think about it for yourself."
Nora shot him a glare, quickly opened the door, and beat a hasty retreat.
Aaron's lips curved into a slight smirk.
He had accidentally kissed her yesterday evening—was that what she referred to as taking advantage? Had he known it would be classified as such, he might have gone for a deeper kiss at the time!
Aaron looked down at a certain part of himself and let out a long sigh.
Last night had been a real ordeal.
Nora headed upstairs, patted her flushed face, took a deep breath, and went to open the door of the children’s room.
"Mommy, good morning."
It was Alex who opened the door.
Nora tousled his hair, then sternly turned to the other two tots.
The other children were also awake, rubbing their eyes and calling out "Mommy."
Nora asked, "Alright, who did it last night? Speak up."
