Chapter 919 Continue to Cater to His Preferences

"Mr. Gordon, you are a smart guy," Jane said.

"Thanks for the compliment."

Aaron smiled. "Anything else? If not, I'm heading out."

"Um, Mr. Gordon," Jane called.

"Yes?"

Jane wanted to ask if he knew Finnegan but held back. If Zephyr found out she met Aaron alone, he'd be mad.

"Sorry, I called Dr. Smith. Hope you don't mind."

Aaron squinted. "What did you say? You didn't tell her I was cheating, right?"

"No," Jane replied. "I just mentioned the woman with you at the party was acting weird."

"What did Nora say?" Aaron asked.

"She said she trusts you."

Aaron sighed in relief. "Glad she didn't misunderstand. Jane, that was a bit much."

"Sorry," Jane apologized.

Aaron wasn't really mad. He waved it off. "I'm leaving now."

"Take care."

Aaron called Nora as he walked. She picked up quickly.

"Honey, what are you doing?"

"Packing," Nora replied.

"Are you coming back to Chrisland?" Aaron asked, surprised.

"Yes, don't you want me to?"

"Of course I do, I'm thrilled," Aaron said quickly.

Nora chuckled. "Are you still at the party?"

"Yeah, about to leave," Aaron said.

"Okay, go ahead. I'm heading out too," Nora said.

"Alright, what time's your flight? I'll pick you up," Aaron offered.

"I won't tell you," Nora teased.

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Planning a surprise attack?"

"Yes, are you scared?" Nora asked.

Aaron laughed. "Only scared you won't plan one."

They laughed and chatted a bit more before hanging up.

At the banquet hall entrance, Johnnie opened the car door for Aaron. He paused, thinking about what Jane said about Gabriella.

"Johnnie, I have something to do. Take Gabriella back to the hotel first."

Johnnie was surprised. "Need me to come back for you?"

"No, I'll grab a cab," Aaron said.

In the car, Gabriella asked, "Mr. Gordon, got something to do? I can come with you."

"It's personal," Aaron said, signaling Johnnie to close the door.

Johnnie closed the door and got in the car. As they drove off, Gabriella watched Aaron waiting for a cab, her smile fading. Jane must've said something to him.

Gabriella looked at Johnnie. "Mr. Perez, busy after dropping me off?"

"No," Johnnie replied.

"Join me for a drink?" Gabriella asked sweetly.

"Sorry, I don't drink and drive," Johnnie said.

"Then don't drive," Gabriella smiled.

Johnnie hesitated. "Sorry."

"Don't apologize. I'm a guest of Mr. Gordon. If you don't entertain me, I'll complain," Gabriella pressured.

Johnnie frowned but stayed silent.

"Come to a nearby bar with me. You need to stay with me. If something happens to me, Mr. Gordon's business will suffer," Gabriella insisted.

Glancing at Gabriella's charming face in the rearview mirror, Johnnie didn't refuse again.

At the banquet hall, Jane found Zephyr. "Are we still going to keep pestering?"

Zephyr glanced at Finnegan. "No, let's head back."

Jane nodded. "Alright, let's go."

Zephyr looked around. "Where's Emilio?"

"He left a while ago," Jane replied.

Zephyr nodded. "Makes sense. He's probably tired of my jokes."

Jane looked at him. "Why do you care what he does? He's not your anything."

Zephyr, intrigued, thought of Emilio as a potential rival. He couldn't ignore him.

"Or are you treating Emilio as your rival?" Jane asked.

Zephyr stayed silent, suspecting Jane could read minds.

Seeing her teasing expression, Zephyr felt a bit uncomfortable. "What are you looking at?"

Jane laughed. "Nothing."

Zephyr chuckled, and they left the banquet hall together.

The night was cool. Jane, lightly dressed, shivered as a gust of wind hit her. She shrank her neck.

Zephyr noticed and draped his jacket over her shoulders.

Jane adjusted the jacket and smiled. "Is this a girlfriend's privilege?"

Zephyr said seriously, "I'd be a gentleman to any girl."

Jane raised an eyebrow. "So you're the same with everyone?"

Zephyr replied, "If you think so, then yes."

Jane chuckled, and they walked to the parking lot, joking.

Zephyr had been drinking and couldn't drive, so Jane took the wheel. She grabbed a pair of flat shoes from the trunk and changed into them.

Zephyr raised an eyebrow. "You really think ahead."

Jane walked to the passenger side and opened the door for him. "Of course, I always remember I'm your assistant."

Zephyr laughed again. Since being with Jane, he smiled more.

They got into the car, and Jane drove away. They didn't talk much on the way.

Seeing Zephyr resting with his eyes closed, Jane thought about his injuries, feeling a bit worried. "Does your wound hurt?"

"It's okay."

"You shouldn't be drinking today."

Zephyr opened his eyes and smiled. "It's no big deal."

Jane was silent for a moment. "Finnegan doesn't want to cooperate with you, probably because of your identity."

Zephyr's smile faded slightly. "I know."

Jane asked, "What are you planning to do?"

Zephyr pondered for a moment. "Keep catering to his interests."

He looked at the fleeting street scenes outside the window, his gaze firm. "Finnegan likes to drink. Tomorrow, I'll brew some wine for him."

Jane was speechless. Zephyr was really persistent. She hoped his persistence would move Finnegan. But Finnegan was a businessman. Could Zephyr's persistence really move him? Jane was a bit worried.

At the party, Finnegan had almost finished socializing and, thinking about Mason, didn't stay long. After saying goodbye to a few familiar friends, Finnegan left.

In the car, Finnegan loosened his tie and asked his assistant, "No major issues at the hospital, right?"

"Mr. Hayes is fine," the assistant replied respectfully. "Also, I've found the information on the person who saved Mr. Hayes."

Finnegan perked up. "Who is it?"

"It's Zephyr Wright.
