Chapter 612 How to leave a good impression
Howard wanted to ask something else, but Richard rolled down the car window and leaned out at that moment.
"Evella, what's taking so long?" Richard asked.
"I'll be right there" Evella replied.
As soon as Richard spoke, Howard's nerves tensed up, feeling like his scalp was being pulled.
He wanted to smile at Richard, but Richard didn't even glance at him, treating him as if he were invisible.
Nora, on the side, suppressed a smile, "Howard, Evella, why don't we get in the car first and talk on the way?"
Howard understood the truth now. Nora wondered how Howard would change Richard's impression on him!
Howard said, "Let's go."
Evella held Howard's hand and walked towards the car.
Howard was still lost in thoughts. Suddenly, he thought of something and quickly let go of Evella's hand, opting to hold her hand instead. He said, "I'm fine, no need to support me."
Evella blinked and said, "But you have internal injuries."
Howard smiled awkwardly, his gaze sweeping over Nora, who was stifling a laugh on the side. Suddenly, he understood. Nora must have known about this all along but didn't warn him, just watching him make a fool of himself!
He said, "Ask Nora; it's her lack of medical skills that led to a misdiagnosis."
Nora was speechless.
Howard was shifting the blame!
To salvage his image, he had to make her take responsibility for the mistakes.
Nora said, "It's for your sake; I'm trying to use this as an opportunity to help you two bond and gain some benefits."
Evella also understood what was going on and said playfully, "Nora, you're so naughty."
Nora looked innocent, saying, "I just want to have a sister-in-law soon."
"Nora!" Evella blushed and smiled.
Howard nervously walked to the front of the driver's seat and asked, "Richard, should I drive instead?"
Richard touched the steering wheel, giving a cool smile and saying, "No need, you are noble, and you're injured. I dare not trouble you."
Howard thought, ' Oh no!'
At this point, he could only humble himself as much as possible and ask Richard to forgive his ignorance.
Howard said, "Richard, I'm sorry for my ignorance. Please forgive my behavior before."
Evella chimed in, "Come on, godfather, don't be so petty. Howard didn't mean to offend you."
Richard glanced at her and said, "Alright, get in the car quickly."
She was not even married to Howard yet, and she was already speaking up for him. This would only make him more arrogant.
Evella was so naive.
Howard opened the back door for Evella gallantly and courteously shielded the car roof to prevent her from hitting her head.
Richard observed this and felt slightly more satisfied.
Howard was indeed a man, offending him because he cared for Evella, which was forgivable.
However, Howard's foolishness still left him dissatisfied.
Nora and Evella sat in the back together while Howard sat in the passenger seat.
He sat upright, not daring to slack off.
Nora watched and felt like laughing.
This was Howard's formal meeting with Evella's uncle. Hopefully, he could change Richard's attitude towards him.
"Richard, how about going to Whispering Willow Restaurant?" Howard suggested respectfully.
Whispering Willow Restaurant was owned by Kenneth, the restaurant they had visited before.
Richard agreed and drove towards Whispering Willow Restaurant.
On the way, Howard called the restaurant manager to reserve the best private room and order the food in advance for their arrival.
Soon, they arrived at the restaurant.
Remembering the last time they were here when many girls asked Howard for autographs, Richard glanced at Howard and said, "Howard, have you prepared a pen?"
Howard was puzzled, asking, "What for?"
Richard teased, "Maybe some girls will come asking for your autograph; you'd better be prepared with a pen."
His words had a hint of playfulness. Howard responded quickly, "Richard, rest assured, I'm not a fickle man."
Richard gave him a deep look and said nothing, then walked ahead.
Howard let out a long sigh, feeling more nervous than his first time in the operating room.
He hurried to catch up with Richard and personally opened the door to the private room.
Nora wanted to laugh, saying, "Evella, this is the first time I've seen Howard being so attentive to an elder! Having left such a bad impression, he has to work hard to make up for it."
Evella laughed and said, "I should have recorded his dumbfounded look when he heard that Godfather is my real uncle. It would be fun to watch it later."
Nora chuckled, mocking, "Evella, you're wicked."
Evella pouted and said, "I learned it from you."
Nora raised an eyebrow, nodding. "We're family, so our personalities and hobbies are similar."
Blushing, Evella said, "Nora, you're teasing me again."
Nora and Evella entered the private room, chatting and laughing.
Meanwhile, Howard and Richard sat face to face.
Howard brewed tea for Richard personally.
Nora and Evella sat down, and the waiter started serving the dishes.
Today, Howard, in contrast to his usual aloof doctor demeanor, played the role of a tea-pouring gentleman, taking care of Richard and Evella.
He learned Zack's story from Evella's mouth.
Like Nora, he couldn't help but feel sorry after hearing it.
He said, "Richard, rest assured, whether Evella has a father or not, I will take good care of her in the future."
Richard glanced at him, about to speak, when his phone on the table rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he smirked.
Setting down his fork, he wiped his hands with a tissue and then answered the call, "Joseph Martinez."
"Richard, are you having dinner?" A magnetic voice came through the phone.
Richard glanced at Evella, saying, "I'm having dinner with Evella."
"Congratulations on finding your family again."
"Yes, we'll introduce you to Evella another day."
"Alright."
"I won't be back at the company for a while, so you'll have to take care of the company matters," Richard added.
"Don't worry, I will."
"I'll eat first."
Joseph hesitated for a moment before replying, "Okay."
He seemed to have something else to say; it was probably business-related.
Richard's eyes flickered, and he hung up, planning to ask Joseph about it in detail later.
"Godfather, who was on the phone?" Evella asked curiously.
Richard glanced at Howard, took a sip of tea, and said slowly, "Your father's godson. Your father once said that if he had a daughter, he would marry her to Joseph."
Howard was drinking tea and choked on it when he heard this, coughing continuously.
Richard gave him a scathing look, continuing to sip his tea leisurely.
Despite Howard's earnest efforts to make a good impression, he still hadn't passed the test.
He fell short in physical strength, and his intellectual abilities were disappointging. He needed to have a sense of crisis.
