Chapter 477 I Am A Sinner

Arthur looked at the black material on the table and quickly grabbed it, tearing it apart.

He raised his gaze and stared fiercely at Chloe.

When Chloe saw Arthur's gaze, she smiled lightly and said, "Arthur, since I was able to find out about your past, I have even more evidence. Tearing these documents apart won't do you any good."

Arthur was shocked. "You have a backup? Chloe, I've already signed the divorce agreement. Why are you still keeping my information?" he asked.

Chloe replied, "People's hearts are hard to predict. I'm just leaving a trump card for myself."

Arthur glared at her. "Are you trying to use this information to threaten me? Chloe, I've taken care of you for nearly twenty years. Don't you have any gratitude toward me? Are you really that ruthless?" he accused.

Chloe glanced at him and said, "If I were really merciless, it wouldn't be as simple as kicking you out."

In the past month, she had gradually regained her clarity.

Recalling the events of the past twenty years, she didn't want to continue living in this confusing relationship with Arthur.

There were no feelings between them; ulterior motives drove Arthur's agreement to marry her.

But he was right; he had taken care of her for nearly twenty years, and she was grateful to him.

After all, she was a mentally disabled woman who sometimes had inexplicable bursts of anger, making it difficult for him to take care of her.

But he had never abused her.

Yet her gratitude toward him was limited.

She didn't want to continue being a fake wife to him; she wanted a divorce.

But she also knew that if she didn't have evidence against him, Arthur would never agree to divorce easily, so she began secretly collecting evidence to strengthen her position in negotiations instead of sending him to prison, but ultimately decided against it.

Regardless, Arthur had been by her side for twenty years, and she didn't want her actions to cause public scrutiny of the Woodhouse family.

Chloe contemplated Arthur's gloomy expression and said, "As long as you behave yourself and don't blame others for your daughter's situation, I won't do anything to you. Otherwise, you know the consequences."

Hearing this, Arthur clenched his fists, his eyes filled with hatred.

He thought, 'How could I not blame others? If it weren't for Aaron, my daughter wouldn't have gone insane. If it weren't for Nora, Chloe wouldn't have regained her clarity. Those two people that ruined everything he had.'

Arthur was filled with immense hatred, but he restrained himself on the surface.

"I understand. I'll be leaving now, Chloe. Take care of yourself," Arthur said.

However, he wouldn't let it go just like that.

As the door opened and closed, Chloe sighed deeply and slowly picked up the divorce agreement.

She had lived in confusion for those years, and it was time for this kind of life to end.

She thought to herself, 'I am a sinner, bringing trouble to my family and causing my beloved older sister to be separated from her daughter for so many years. Luckily, fate smiled upon them, and they reunited.'

After sorting out everything, Nora was ready to embark on her new journey.

Nora left the Woodhouse Villa and was about to head back when she received a call from Zephyr.

Nora wondered why he would call her but still answered the phone.

"Dr. Wright?" Nora asked.

"Dr. Smith, where are you?" Zephyr sounded anxious.

"I'm on my way back; what's wrong?" Nora asked.

"Cora, I mean, Doctor Sandy suddenly had stomach pain, and I need to take her to the hospital. She refuses to go. Can you come back right away?" Zephyr pleaded, frantically.

Hearing this, Nora was shocked and quickly said, "I'll be there right away. But first, tell me, what is her condition? How did she get stomach pain? Did she fall?"

"She didn't fall but is resting in the lounge; I have no idea why she's experiencing that," he explained. Zephyr was in a panic.

"I understand, I'll be there soon." Nora hung up and said to Frederick, "Frederick, turn around and go to the lab."

"All right," Frederick replied. He drove the car faster, and Nora quickly got out of the car and entered the lab.

Zephyr was waiting for her.

Seeing her arrival, Zephyr immediately grabbed her and walked toward the lounge.

When Zephyr was about to enter, Nora quickly said, "Dr. Wright, wait for me outside."

Zephyr wanted to say something but eventually nodded and didn't follow inside.

Nora pushed the door open and saw Sandy lying on the bed, closing her eyes to rest.

"Sandy, what's going on?" Nora sat down by the bedside.

"Nora, why are you here? I'm fine," she replied, Sandy's face was a little pale as she struggled to sit up.

"Don't move; Dr. Wright called me to come back. Let me check on you first," Nora said, examining her.

Sandy felt a little embarrassed, and said, "He's exaggerating. I'm also a doctor; I told him I'm fine. Maybe I just ate too much for lunch and felt some bloating and stomach pain."

Nora didn't say anything and carefully examined her, and then she started massaging Sandy in a few areas.

"You just have a bit of indigestion; the baby is fine. But it seems like the fetus is developing too quickly in your abdomen. Have you been taking tonics regularly?" Nora asked.

Hearing this, Sandy nodded, and explained, "Yes, every morning, Emma would stew tonic soup for me with lots of tonics in it. I'm afraid to disappoint her, so I drink a bowl every day."

Nora furrowed her brows, "You should stop. If you continue, the baby may grow too big, and it won't be easy for you to give birth in the future."

Sandy became nervous after hearing her words, "I understand."

She also knew that excessive nutrition would lead to fetal overgrowth and that giving birth would be dangerous. However, she thought that Kenneth would help her drink some each morning, so she thought it wouldn't be a big deal to drink less.

However, Nora had already warned her, so she dared not underestimate it anymore.

"I'll take you back," Nora said after the treatment.

Sandy wanted to say no, but seeing Nora insist, she didn't say anything.

The two of them left the rest area and saw Jason and Zephyr standing outside the door.

Zephyr was full of concern.

Jason spoke first, "Nora, is Sandy okay?"

"She's fine. She probably just ate too much for lunch," Nora said.

Jason sighed in relief, "That's good. Sandy, go home and rest early. If something happens to you, how can I explain it to Mr. Hamilton?"

Sandy smiled, and replied, "Dr. Levelt, I'm really fine."

Jason nodded, and urged, "That's good. You should go home early, and you can come later tomorrow."

Sandy glanced at Zephyr and said, "Dr. Wright, the project is almost done so I won't come tomorrow."

She didn't come to the lab every day this month but when she was too bored at home. This way, she could reduce the chance of meeting Zephyr.

Zephyr looked at her, his fingers slightly clenched, thinking, 'She won't come again in the future? Is it because I worried too much just now? So, I don't even have the qualifications to worry about her?'

He said somewhat bitterly, "I'll see you off."

After speaking, he walked straight toward the door.

Nora looked at his back and sighed silently in her heart. She supported Sandy out of the laboratory.
