Chapter 101 Are You Flirting With Me Again?

His lady?

Nora paused in her massaging at that term.

"Thomas, I meant that I'm currently your secretary and personal physician; you're my boss, and I'm looking forward to that generous salary of yours."

"I understand. And as I've said before, you're my person," Aaron stated with an easy smile, as though it was the most natural thing in the world.

Nora glanced at him and quickly suppressed the flutter in her chest as she muttered a thank you.
She made her intentions crystal clear, regardless of what he thought.

She saw him as nothing more than her boss!

"Thank me? Is a verbal thanks all I'm getting?" Aaron teased, trying to provoke a reaction.

Nora's eyes sparkled with annoyance. "Aaron, I nearly lost my life. Why do you think that happened?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Right, I should be the one thanking you. Besides money, what else do you want as compensation?"

"Just money!" Nora cut him off swiftly.

Aaron was about to say more, but her spirited response made him chuckle instead.

"Alright, whatever amount you desire, I'll provide. But your safety is what's most important."

Nora's smile curved at the edges. "Of course, I have to be around to watch my three kids grow up and get married."

Aaron watched her smiling and wondered if there was room in her life for someone like him.

He wanted to walk through life with her and her three children.

"By the way, Thomas, about the horse that got spooked earlier, was it an accident, or was someone behind it?" Nora still felt the chilling aftereffects of the incident.

The stables were Gayle's turf, and the man had a reputation for being unsavory.

Aaron's expression grew grave.

"Horses at the stable are usually tame; they only act wild if provoked. So, it might be someone who did it on purpose."

Gayle was targeting Nora.

Her presence had interfered with his plans.

He was teaching Nora a lesson.

"If it was intentional, then it must be Gayle's doing. That man is truly despicable," Nora said, fuming.

Aaron's handsome face turned to stone, and his hand subconsciously touched his leg. "That's just business for you—full of deceit and treachery."

Nora noticed the small gesture, and a wave of sympathy flashed in her eyes.

Being a CEO was not an easy job, always having to be on guard against cunning people.

"Thomas, you have to win back this partnership deal."

Hearing this, Aaron's eyes softened instantly.

"You're my good luck charm. With you here, I'm sure I can reclaim the deal."

Nora gave him a skeptical look. "Thomas, you're depending too much on me. It's a lot of pressure."

Aaron laughed lightly. "Don't feel pressured. I'm your boss; I'll protect you."

Nora was silent.

They exchanged a look, warmth flooding the space between them.

Then Aaron's phone rang.

Answering it, he heard Gayle's voice.

"Mr. Gordon, how are you feeling? If you're unwell, why don't I send someone to take you back to Houston now?"

He couldn't wait to get him and Nora out of there.
Aaron's expression was stern. "Thanks for the concern, Mr. Gayle. I'm fine."
He decided to temporarily set aside his issues with Gayle. There would be time to settle the score after he reclaimed the contract!

"If you're alright, then come join Mr. Smith for dinner," Gayle suggested.

"Sure."

After hanging up the phone, Aaron turned to Nora, who was still giving him a massage. "Gayle wants us to join him for dinner."

Seeing that Aaron's muscles had sufficiently relaxed, Nora ceased her ministrations and proceeded to help him into his pants.

"Let's head out, then."

Aaron's brows lifted subtly, a slight smile curving his lips as he observed her deft movements. Was Nora forgetting to maintain a professional distance by helping him with his pants?

As for Nora, she hadn't dwelt much on such considerations—her focus was solely on assisting Aaron to regain control of the partnership case.

She helped Aaron settle into his wheelchair, noticing the lingering pallor on his face; she asked with concern, "Are you sure you're up to this? Are you still feeling any discomfort?"

Aaron gazed at her exquisite face, the softness of her embrace earlier flashing in his mind, and his Adam's apple bobbed. "Yes."

Startled, Nora quickly crouched down to ask, "What's wrong? Is it about your leg?"

Eyes trained on her lips, he replied cryptically, "You could say that."

Nora scrutinized him, her hand tracing up from his lower leg.

"Does this hurt?"

"No."

"How about here?"

"It's fine."

"What about here, then?"

Her hand had reached his thigh.

Aaron caught his breath. "Nora, you're flirting with me again!"

She fell silent.

The desire in his eyes left Nora feeling a mix of annoyance and embarrassment as she stood up.

"Aaron, mind your behavior!"

She was earnestly trying to heal him, yet he persistently teased her!

His eyes deepened. "Yes, Nora. Only you can cure my ailment."

Nora glared at him. "Aaron, can you be serious for a moment?"

Aaron played coy. "What do you mean?"

Nora let out a sardonic laugh. "You seem rather unconcerned about winning back the contract."

With a smile, Aaron assured her, "With you by my side, I'm at ease."

She shouldn't have agreed to be his secretary.
Why couldn't she just be a simple accompanying physician?

They arrived at the private dining room.

Several men and women were already there, invited by Gayle to dine with the Smith couple.

Upon seeing Nora and Aaron, Mr. Smith expressed his concern, "Mr. Gordon, how are you feeling?"

Aaron gave a slight smile. "Mr. Smith, I'm doing well."

"Nora, come and sit next to me," Amelia said with a smile, gesturing for Nora to take the seat beside her.
Nora's lips curved into a half-smile as she took her seat.

On the other hand, Aaron settled himself next to Gayle.

"Everyone's here. Let's enjoy the dinner," Gayle announced, and the table came alive with laughter and clinking glasses.

Amelia leaned toward Nora and whispered, "Nora, are you and Mr. Gordon really just employer and employee?"

Nora was taken aback at the question. She saw the curiosity in Amelia's eyes, and her lips parted slightly.

"Not exactly."

Amelia chuckled. "I knew it! You two don't come across as boss and subordinate but more like a couple."

Speechless, Nora had thought Amelia had caught on to her charade.

She had been misunderstood!

"Amelia, you've got it all wrong. I'm actually a doctor, and Mr. Gordon is my patient. He was in a rush to get to Bescosarst to meet you and Mr. Smith, which is why he asked me to pretend to be his secretary," Nora clarified truthfully.

Surprise flickered in Amelia's gaze. "Is that so?"

"Yes, I'm just here to make a quick buck on the side."

Nora said this earnestly, and Amelia burst into laughter.

"Nora, you're quite the character. I can tell Mr. Gordon treats you differently."

Nora's eyes twinkled mischievously, purposely being vague. "Maybe it's because I'm the only one who can fix his leg."

Amelia's laughter deepened.

Seeing this, Finn quickly joined in the conversation.

Nora didn't compete for Amelia's attention. She continued with her meal, noticing that Gayle was engaged in conversation with Smith and wasn't paying attention to Aaron.

Aaron, calm as ever, ate at a deliberate pace.

The meal stretched on for two hours before finally concluding, with Mr. Smith slightly tipsy.

Gayle then suggested they all go to the hot springs.

The group made their way to the resort's hot spring pools located behind the hotel.

Two rooms had been prepared in advance – one for women and one for men.

Nora glanced at Aaron and noticed Frederick, who had appeared at some point, wheeling him into one of the rooms.

Reassured, Nora followed Amelia into the women's pool.

The water was steaming lightly, and soaking in it felt incredibly soothing.

Before long, a server approached Nora. "Nora, Mr. Gordon would like you to see him now."
