Chapter 618 The Child's Biological Father Is His Cousin
"Mom, what's wrong?" Nora was startled and quickly supported her.
Emma's face turned pale, her brows furrowed, and her mind was filled with images.
She slowly opened her eyes, her chest heaving.
"I seem to remember something." Emma paused, trying to recall.
Nora was about to check her pulse when she asked, "What do you remember?"
Emma said, "I remember why I fell down the stairs and how you were switched."
Upon hearing this, both Nora and Kenneth were stunned, staring at Emma and waiting for her to continue.
Emma said, "Nora, after you cured Chloe's illness, she came to see me that day and told me a lot. I remember..."
Emma paused, her head filled with many images as she tried to piece them together.
"What do you remember?" Nora asked.
"It was Chloe who told me that Arthur Collin orchestrated everything, and you were switched at birth by Arthur," Emma recounted what she remembered to the two.
Nora and Kenneth exchanged a glance, both looking shocked.
"Mom, why would Arthur do this?" Nora asked.
Emma said, "Because he hated your father."
She went on to explain how Ebenezer had betrayed Elsa in the past, how Arthur and Elsa were secret lovers, and how Olivia was the daughter of Arthur and Elsa.
Kenneth listened quietly, his brows knitting together as he grappled with the incredulity of the tale. He was utterly taken aback.
"I never expected Arthur to pull off such a scheme in secret; he truly is a cunning and despicable man," Kenneth spoke coldly after hearing the story.
Nora, knowing about the history of Arthur's family, felt a deep resonance.
Fortunately, Arthur's misdeeds caught up with him in the end.
Nora hadn't forgotten about Emma falling down the stairs.
"Mom, how did you fall down the stairs?" Nora asked.
Emma fell silent, trying hard to remember, a hint of pain flashing in her eyes.
"Suzy pushed me down," she finally revealed.
Nora and Kenneth were shocked once again.
Emma continued, "After I saw Chloe off, I tried to call you to acknowledge you as my daughter. But you didn't answer, so I decided to come find you."
"Suzy, upon hearing that you were my biological daughter, probably didn't want us to meet, so she tried her best to stop me from seeing you."
"So we had a struggle at the staircase, and I ended up falling. Suzy caught me, but instead of pulling me up, she pushed me down."
Emma recalled the scene, feeling a chill in her heart. She used to care for Suzy so much, but now she regretted it deeply. She didn't expect Suzy to be so ruthless, pushing her down the stairs directly.
"What a malicious woman." Kenneth's voice turned cold. "She even blamed it on Sandy, trying to use some Jinx reincarnation to make Sandy take responsibility for her mistakes!"
Nora, looking angry, added, "That's why Suzy tried every means to make you and Sandy divorce later. In that way, all the blame would fall on Sandy."
Kenneth's expression turned stern as he added, "She deserves no pity."
Initially, due to their sibling bond of over twenty years, he had some sympathy for Suzy's death.
But now, Suzy truly deserved her fate.
Nora agreed wholeheartedly, looking at Emma and saying, "Mom, as you can see, the chaos in the Hamilton family was caused by Suzy Hamilton, not Sandy. So, let's not mention Jinx anymore. Sandy is actually the most innocent in this whole situation."
Upon hearing this, Emma remained silent, her gaze flickering.
Even though the Hamilton family had been through a lot, it was clear that Sandy was not to blame.
However, Sandy's unfortunate background was also a fact.
"Mom, do you remember anything else?" Nora asked again.
Emma rubbed her temples and said, "Chloe seemed to have told me something else, but I can't recall it right now."
"Don't worry, take your time to remember." Nora comforted softly.
"Nora, go and bring Sandy back immediately," Kenneth couldn't help but interject.
Nora replied, "Kenneth, we can't make it. You'll have to go yourself."
Kenneth thought of Sandy's gentle smile and longed to hold her tightly in his arms.
She must have suffered a lot!
The three of them talked in the room for a while until a sense of fatigue began to creep over Kenneth.
Nora asked him to lie down and rest, then left with Emma.
"Nora, it's late, don't go back," Emma advised.
Nora checked the time; it was almost eleven o'clock.
It was strange that Aaron hadn't called her at all. He might still be out socializing.
"Alright, I won't go back. Kenneth just woke up. If something happens in the middle of the night, I can take care of it immediately," Nora said.
Emma nodded, signaling her to go back to her room.
Nora returned to her room, pondered for a moment, and dialed Aaron's number.
There was no answer.
Nora furrowed her brows, thought for a moment, and then dialed Johnnie's number.
She wanted Johnnie to keep an eye on Aaron and make sure he didn't drink.
The call was quickly answered, "Ms. Smith."
Nora hummed, "Johnnie, is Aaron still out socializing? Did he drink?"
Upon hearing this, Johnnie hesitated slightly and said, "Ms. Smith, Mr. Gordon didn't socialize have a social engagement tonight.."
What!
Nora's smile faded; she said, "Didn't he socialize?"
Aaron had mentioned having business engagements that evening.
"No, Mr. Gordon did have a social engagement, but he asked me to go in his place," Johnnie explained.
So that was the case!
Nora pursed her lips, gave a superficial response to Johnnie, and hung up.
What was Aaron up to?
If he didn't socialize, where was he now?
Just then, her phone rang. It was Aaron calling back.
Nora took a deep breath and answered the call, "Aaron."
"You just called me. Is something wrong?" Aaron's lazy voice came through the line.
Nora asked, "Where are you?"
He said, "I'm on my way home."
Nora fell silent for a moment before asking, "Who were you socializing with tonight?"
"I met with a client, Betsy's benefactor. What happened?" Aaron's voice didn't sound guilty at all.
Nora paused and said, "Nothing. I just wanted to let you know that Kenneth is awake, so I won't be coming back tonight."
"Got it, take care and get some rest," he replied.
Nora acknowledged and hung up, feeling a bit dizzy.
Aaron said he was meeting Betsy's benefactor.
Who could this mysterious benefactor be?
On the other line, Aaron was driving.
With one hand on the steering wheel, he unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt, a sly smile playing on his lips.
Nora wasn't coming back tonight.
He could indulge a little longer.
A seductive face flashed through his mind.
Aaron took out his phone and dialed a number.
He asked, "Margaret, are you asleep?"
Margaret said, "Mr. Gordon, I'm still awake."
"Would you play the piano for me?"
"Sure, where should I go?"
"I'll send you the address."
"Okay."
Margaret agreed so quickly!
She was eager to be with him, right?
With a smirk, Aaron sent the address to Margaret.
The next day, Nora got up, washed up, and went to Kenneth's room first.
She knocked on the door, asking, "Kenneth, can I come in?"
Kenneth replied, "Come in."
Nora entered and found Kenneth getting out of bed.
"Kenneth, where are you going?"
"Nora, I want to go pick up Sandy right now."
"No, you just woke up. Your body is still weak, and you can't travel long distances. Rest for a few days before going to get Sandy," Nora insisted, pushing Kenneth back onto the bed.
Kenneth furrowed his brows and said, "It's fine to take a plane."
"I said no," Nora replied firmly.
"Why?" Kenneth asked.
"Kenneth, look at yourself in the mirror. You look exhausted right now. Sandy left home out of guilt. If you go to see her in this state, it will only reopen her wounds. She will definitely refuse to come back with you!" Nora explained.
Kenneth, with a puzzled expression, struggled to find words.
Nora knew he was worried about Sandy, so she spoke softly, "Alright, just rest for a few days. Once you're feeling better, you can go and bring her back looking your best."
Kenneth remained silent.
Nora took out her phone and flipped through the photo album, saying, "I know you're worried about Sandy. Look, this is Gerald Morgan, the nanny I hired to take care of Sandy. She reports to me every day. Sandy is doing well."
The nanny, Gerald, recorded Sandy's diet and any discomfort she felt and occasionally sent photos.
Kenneth perked up, eager to see the updates on her phone.
He was taken aback when he saw a photo of Sandy wearing a veil while providing medical care to the elderly.
"Nora, why is Sandy wearing a veil on her face?" he asked.
Nora sighed softly, not hiding the truth. "Sandy has disfigured her face."
Kenneth's eyes widened in shock. He said, "What are you saying? She disfigure herself?"
"Yes." Nora nodded. Sandy said she wanted a fresh start, to say goodbye to her past. By disfiguring her appearance, she could become a whole new Sandy."
Kenneth's heart ached at the revelation.
He looked at the photo of Sandy, his eyes full of tenderness.
He said, "Is she crazy? Why would she disfigure her face? If she wanted a new look, she could have gone to a beauty clinic for a makeover."
Just like what Nora had said to him earlier.
Nora said, "Sandy said it was her way of punishing herself because she was the one who caused your accident."
Kenneth felt a sharp pain in his heart, filled with affection. He said, "Is she a fool? What does it have to do with her?"
Nora sighed and said, "It's all because of that Jinx nonsense. Sandy was really badly affected by what Suzy did."
Yes, it was all Suzy's doing.
If Suzy hadn't died, he would have never forgiven her!
Kenneth fell silent, continuing to look at the photos on Nora's phone.
The pictures showed Sandy at the medical clinic, having meals at home, and discussing medical issues with healthcare workers.
Seeing the modern amenities in the photos, Kenneth suppressed his emotions and handed the phone back to Nora.
He said, "Thank Aaron for me."
Aaron had done a lot for Sandy while he was unconscious.
Now, it was his turn.
He needed to recover quickly and bring Sandy back.
"Okay," Nora replied.
With a goal in mind, Kenneth felt rejuvenated.
"Nora, Aaron has been good to you, hasn't he?" he asked.
Nora adjusted her hair behind her ear, saying, "Not bad."
"If he weren't good to you, you wouldn't have agreed to get engaged with him," Kenneth smiled and asked, "Have you set a wedding date?"
"Not yet," Nora said.
Kenneth glanced at her abdomen and said, "Get married soon; or maybe you will have to rush into it because of a child."
Nora blushed and said, "Kenneth, what are you saying?"
Talking about children made her think of her three treasures, Alex, Billy, and Samantha.
The genetic testing with Aaron was going to yield results soon, and she wondered what the outcome would be.
Time flew by quickly, and the next morning, Nora went to the hospital.
As she received the documents, her heart was pounding.
She couldn't wait to see the final column, her eyes fixed on the conclusion.
In her understanding, genetic testing would either confirm or deny a biological relationship.
But to her surprise, there was a third possibility in this case!
The comparison data showed a certain degree of blood relation between the two parties. The comparison revealed that they were closely related!
In other words, Alex, Billy, and Samantha's biological father were Aaron's brothers!
Nora stared at the result in disbelief, her heart pounding wildly.
Aaron was the only child, and she had never heard of Jacob having an illegitimate son.
Of course, aside from a half-sibling, Aaron's brothers also included cousins and other relatives.
So, the children's biological father was Aaron's cousin.
Nora clenched the document in her hand, and suddenly, Jackson Gordon's face flashed in her mind.
Jackson was the cousin most closely related to Aaron.
But Jackson didn't seem to recognize her before. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been unaware of Alex, Billy, and Samantha.
So she could rule him out for now.
That meant the children's biological father was one of Aaron's other cousins.
The Gordon family had many branches, and Aaron had several cousins. But their blood relations weren't as close.
Could it be Lucas Gordon? No! Definitely not Lucas!
After all, if the children's father were him, Becky wouldn't be involved.
With Lucas ruled out, who else could it be?
Who was the biological father of her kids?
Whoever it was, it was clear that the children were descendants of the Gordon family! But this revelation threw everything into chaos.
She was supposed to marry Aaron and have him help raise the children, but if the children were his cousins, that would mean she was essentially cuckolding Aaron!
Nora rubbed her temples, feeling overwhelmed.
How could this mix-up have happened?
Who was the man from four years ago?
He had never contacted her since that night; perhaps he was as drunk as she was and didn't even remember who he slept with.
The thought brought Nora some relief.
If he didn't know about her existence, then she would bury this secret deep down and never tell anyone!
Nora decided to keep this information from Aaron for now.
Taking a deep breath, she put the documents away, pondered for a moment, and dialed Aaron's number.
She hadn't gone back in the past few days, and he seemed busy as he hadn't called her either.
She wondered if he had fully recovered.
The call went through, but there was no answer.
Nora pursed her lips and hung up.
Lately, Aaron seemed to be avoiding her calls.
Suppressing her discomfort, she tried to make excuses for him.
He was probably busy with work.
Leaving the hospital, Frederick asked her where she was going.
Nora thought for a moment and said, "I'll go to the Whispering Pines Manor first."
She wanted to check if he was home and pick up some personal items.
