Chapter 989 Breaking Up Again

Johnnie's face darkened as he helped Susan up, clearly pissed. "Gabriella, what are you doing? Can you be reasonable?"

Gabriella got even angrier seeing Johnnie defend Susan. "Oh, so you're on her side now, Johnnie? Need I remind you of your situation..."

"No need, Gabriella. Do you really think you can control me?" Johnnie cut her off, his voice deep.

Gabriella glared and snapped, "Aren't you afraid I'll report you to Rafael?"

"Go ahead," Johnnie shot back. "When I accepted your proposal, Mr. Gordon told me I could refuse your unreasonable demands. Report us to Rafael if you want. At worst, we'll lose a chance for revenge. But I accepted because I thought we could try again. We need closure, so I was willing to follow your lead."

Gabriella looked at Johnnie's face in the moonlight, feeling a bit moved. "What, now you don't want to follow my lead anymore?"

"I want you to apologize to Susan. Be mad at me, but respect others. Rudeness isn't a personality trait," Johnnie said sternly.

To him, she seemed unreasonable.Gabriella felt wronged. Johnnie was affectionate with Susan behind her back, and now it was her fault. "What if I don't apologize?"

Johnnie looked at Gabriella, silent for a moment. "Then we're done."

Susan leaned against him, feeling a surge of joy. She didn't want Gabriella to apologize. She wanted them to break up.

She thought, 'Gabriella, hold on, have some self-respect, don't apologize to me!'

Gabriella stared at Johnnie for a long time before speaking, "Do you really want to break up with me?"

Johnnie said, "Apologize to Susan!"

Gabriella's chest heaved. Looking at Johnnie's face, she let out a cold laugh. "I won't apologize to her. I brought this on myself, seeking trouble, thinking too highly of myself, coming here to be humiliated! Fine, it ends here. Johnnie, I'm done with you!"

Gabriella turned and left. Johnnie watched her go, his brow furrowing tighter. 'So headstrong? Gabriella's temper is really something!'

Susan, standing by, had a flicker in her eyes and felt a surge of joy. She thought, 'Did Gabriella and Johnnie just break up? Great!'

But Susan had to pretend to be worried. "Johnnie, Ms. Costa is angry. You should go explain things to her."

Johnnie withdrew his gaze and let go of Susan. "Susan, I apologize on behalf of Gabriella for what happened. But let me be clear, even if I break up with her, I only see you as a friend. You should go back. I need to return to the ward," he said plainly, and Susan gave an awkward smile.

"I understand, I'll leave now." She wasn't in a hurry. Although Johnnie said that now, he had broken up with Gabriella. In the future, with Randy and Vilma speaking on her behalf, Johnnie would naturally compromise. She had plenty of opportunities.

Johnnie saw Susan off and looked at the place where Gabriella had long disappeared. After standing for a moment, he turned and went back to the ward.

He didn't go to the hotel to chase her, nor did he call or text Gabriella. Firstly, he didn't want Gabriella to stay here any longer. He was afraid that the more she interacted with Randy and Vilma, the more they would dislike each other.

Secondly, Gabriella's temper was too bad. If they were really going to be together, he needed to cool her down. He needed Gabriella to think things through. Did she really want to be with him, or was she just playing around? If they were going to be together, Gabriella had to respect everyone around him.

Gabriella needed to understand their relationship was equal. Johnnie could spoil her, but she couldn't trample on others just because of her privileged background. He liked her boldness and personality but hoped she could be mature and graceful too.

Gabriella returned to the hotel, furious. 'Damn Johnnie, bringing up breaking up with me again for Susan! He really thinks he's something! Twice now!' She was fuming! She threw her phone onto the bed, grabbed a bottle of water, and gulped down several mouthfuls.

After drinking, she glanced at her phone, still holding onto a faint hope. Hoping Johnnie would soften and send her a message. But the phone stayed silent. One minute, two minutes, ten minutes, twenty minutes. Gabriella kept checking, but no message from Johnnie. She felt both angry and cold inside. Johnnie, that heartless man! Gabriella swore she wouldn't be the one to contact him this time!

That night, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. It wasn't until three or four in the morning that she finally drifted off.

The next day, while she was sleeping soundly, her phone rang. Gabriella opened her eyes, something flashing through her mind. She quickly grabbed her phone to check the caller ID. It was Yannick. A trace of disappointment flashed in her eyes. She thought it was Johnnie. Suppressing her frustration, she answered. "Dad, what's up?"

"Gabriella, come back to Hchilia. There's an important project that needs your attention."

Her first reaction was to refuse. She didn't want to go back to Hchilia yet. But then she thought, 'Johnnie has already broken up with me. What's the point of staying here? To get back at Aaron and Nora, I've already disrupted my normal life. Now I'm also infuriated by Johnnie. Why should I, a privileged woman, stay here and endure this? I might as well go back home and start my new life.'

With that thought, she immediately agreed. "Okay, I'll go back today."

After hanging up, she got up, washed up, booked a flight back to Hchilia, and left Silver City with her bag.

At the hospital, Johnnie stayed with Vilma all night. In the morning, Randy arrived. Not long after, Susan also came. She made some soup and showed great care and concern for Vilma. Her well-behaved and considerate nature earned her more praise from Randy and Vilma.

Susan had to go to work, so she left after delivering the soup. Randy said, "Johnnie, you should walk Susan out."

Johnnie nodded. "Dad, I'm going back to the hotel to handle some business. I'll come back after I'm done."

'Is he really going to handle business, or is he going to the hotel to be with Gabriella?' Randy understood but didn't expose him. "Alright, go ahead."

After Johnnie and Susan left, he said to Vilma, "Last night, I specifically had Susan come to the hospital to bring Johnnie supper. So, did Johnnie say anything to you later?"

"He did."

"What did he say?"

Vilma sighed, "He told us not to interfere. He said he had already made things clear with Susan."

Randy frowned. "Johnnie is really out of his mind. We won't listen to him. Look at that Gabriella, she's not suitable to be Johnnie's wife at all. If she really cared, she would have come to the hospital early. But where is she? Probably still sleeping in at the hotel."

Vilma nodded. "Yes, unlike Susan, who is well-behaved and considerate. If she married Johnnie, she could take care of us when we're old."

"Exactly, Johnnie's judgment is poor."

"Indeed."
