Chapter 1081 Samantha Wasn't the Top Priority

Elijah's eyes darted around as she thought, 'Nah, I can't get mixed up in this. If Wesley and Samantha split 'cause of my pregnancy, Wesley would never take me in. He'd probably hate my guts. I'd lose way more than I'd gain. Gotta find another way to break 'em up.'

"Hey, you're Wesley's assistant, Elijah, right?" Two women passing by the restroom recognized her and asked cautiously.

Elijah snapped back to reality and grinned. "You guys here for a bite?"

"Yeah, is Wesley here too?"

"Can we get an autographed pic of him?"

The two women were buzzing with excitement.

Elijah always had a stash of Wesley's signed photos in her bag for moments like this. She didn't hesitate and pulled out two signed pics, handing them over before quickly masking up and bouncing.

"Wow, this is awesome! We finally got Wesley's autograph!"

"See, I told you I saw Wesley having dinner with some chick here, didn't I?"

"You mean the girl who helped Wesley face off with Robert last time? Isn't she the daughter of the richest family in Houston, the Gordon family? Could Wesley be dating her?"

"Probably not. Elijah's so chill; we should've asked her."

Their chatter reached Elijah's ears. She slowed down, her mind racing with a new plan.

Back in the private room, things were awkwardly quiet. Samantha was wondering if Alfred and Lykke had finished eating. Wesley, on the other hand, was thinking about all the dudes Samantha had around her.

"Wesley, I'm stuffed. Gonna hit the restroom." Samantha got up and walked out.

Wesley frowned. "Isn't there a restroom in here?"

Samantha paused, awkwardly patted her head, and smiled. "Oh, right."

Wesley eyed her fake smile, his gaze deepening. 'Is she thinking about Alfred? Using the restroom as an excuse to check on him?' he wondered.

Feeling restless, Wesley stood up and walked out. Outside the private room, he glanced towards the window where Alfred had been sitting. They were gone.

"Finished eating?" Ryan strolled over, hands in his pockets.

"Yeah, Ryan." Since Ryan was Samantha's cousin, Wesley kept it respectful.

"Where's Samantha?" Ryan glanced towards the private room.

"She's still in the restroom," Wesley replied.

Ryan looked him up and down, his tone mocking, "Wesley, don't you eat? You're so skinny."

Wesley shot him a look and explained, "I do eat, but as public figures, we gotta keep in shape, so our diet's pretty strict."

Ryan sneered, "What kind of rule is that, making you look like a twig and calling it attractive?"

Ryan was basically calling him weak. Wesley's face darkened. If Ryan wasn't Samantha's relative, he wouldn't let him talk like that.

Ryan spoke again, "Wesley, let me ask you something. If you had to choose between your physique and Samantha, what would you pick?"

Wesley glanced at him. "Ryan, what's that supposed to mean?"

"Can't you get it? If you wanna be with Samantha, you gotta pack on some pounds. But if you do, you might lose your public appeal. Would you still bulk up for her?" Wesley had never really thought about it like that. He figured Samantha liked him just the way he was.

Seeing Wesley stay quiet, Ryan sneered, "Guess Samantha ain't your number one. You love your job more, huh?"

Wesley frowned. "Ryan, what crap are you talking now?" Samantha came out of the restroom and didn't see Wesley, so she left the private room. As soon as she stepped out, she caught Ryan's words. She quickly moved in front of Wesley, glaring at Ryan.

Ryan clutched his chest dramatically. "Samantha, I didn't say anything, and you look like you wanna kill me. You're protecting him so much; my heart's breaking."

Ryan used to be such a sweet, quiet kid, but he turned into a real troublemaker as he grew up.

Samantha rolled her eyes. "Keep it up. Wesley, let's bounce." She grabbed Wesley and started to leave.

Seeing Samantha stand up for him, Wesley felt a bit better. He gave Ryan a slight nod and followed her out.

Ryan noticed the smug look on Wesley's face and ground his teeth.

It was weird; the Gordon family's genes were top-notch. All the men in the Gordon family were ridiculously handsome, but Samantha's taste seemed off.

'Wesley ain't even that good-looking compared to the guys in the Gordon family. Maybe Samantha's seen so many handsome dudes in her family that she's immune to looks? Does she think all guys look the same, handsome or not?' Ryan couldn't wrap his head around it and shook his head, pulling out his phone to text Alfred: [They're coming out.]

Alfred replied with an OK emoji pretty quickly.

Ryan stroked his chin, thinking about Samantha being snatched by another guy. He made a decision. In the future, if he liked a girl, he wouldn't keep it a secret. 'Cause if he hid it too long, someone else might swoop in.

Samantha and Wesley got into the RV.

The two women who had asked Elijah for autographs were now hiding in a corner, snapping pics of the two holding hands as they got into the car.

"Look, they're holding hands! Could they really be dating?"

"Don't jump to conclusions; maybe they're just good friends?"

"Even though this chick seems loyal, if she's really dating Wesley, my heart's gonna break."

"Yeah, Wesley can't be monopolized by anyone."

"Their car's leaving. Let's follow and see where they split."

In the RV, Elijah lifted a corner of the curtain, watching the two women secretly taking pictures, and smirked. She had noticed them all along.

Elijah didn't warn Wesley about the fans taking pics. Not only would she not remind him, but she'd also stir the pot.

"Wesley, are we heading to school for practice now?" Samantha asked.

"Yeah," Wesley sat beside her and replied.

Samantha, curious about his chat with Ryan earlier, asked, "Wesley, what did Ryan say to you just now?"

Wesley looked at her. "He asked if I'd be willing to gain weight if it meant being with you."

Samantha blinked and asked, "So, what did you say?"
