Chapter 1020 Give Him the Tablet
"Mrs. Gordon's a miracle worker, bringing someone back from the dead!" Walter clapped his hands.
Nora smiled, "Mr. Rochet, you're mistaken. No one can really bring someone back from the dead; it's just a trick."
She glanced at Seraphina and explained, "Signe's assistant wasn't actually dead. My student used medical skills to make him seem lifeless. Treating him again woke him up."
Walter and the others finally understood.
They were amazed by Chrisland's treatment methods.
Manuel quickly said, "No wonder Signe couldn't summon Dale's soul; he wasn't dead in the first place!"
Manuel tried to cover for Signe.
Nora looked at Signe, thinking how ridiculous they all were.
Billy shouted, "Stop covering for Signe. Even a five-year-old like me knows you're all frauds. Do you still believe Signe can summon souls?"
Billy looked at Walter and his group.
They stayed silent, showing some doubt towards Signe.
But years of mental control couldn't be undone quickly, making it hard for them to believe Signe's actions were all tricks.
Especially Astrid and Mia, who admired Signe.
"I believe in Mr. Christensen," Astrid said, "Everyone makes mistakes, even witch doctors. So, spells can fail too. Right, Mr. Christensen?"
Signe, struggling for an excuse, nodded when he saw Astrid speaking for him. "You're right."
"Yes, I also believe in Mr. Christensen," Mia echoed.
Several nearby servants nodded slightly in agreement.
Billy shook his head. "Hopeless."
He looked at Alfred with sympathy. "With a hostess like Astrid at home, you must have suffered a lot, right?"
Alfred pressed his lips together, silently agreeing.
Samantha said, "Yes, so Dad and Mom, why can't Alfred and his mom come with us?"
Billy said, "They must have their reasons."
Samantha looked at Alfred and asked, "Alfred, do you want to come back to Chrisland with us?"
He thought, 'Yes! Very much! I want to see Samantha every day. But I can't. My home is here.'
Alfred clenched his small fists. "When I grow up, I'll come find you."
Hearing Millie's translation, Samantha lowered her head in disappointment. "Alright."
She felt a bit regretful.
"At least we can video chat. Alfred, you must ask your dad to buy you a tablet," Samantha said.
Alfred glanced at Walter, feeling conflicted.
If he asked for something, would Walter give it to him?
"Never mind, I'll leave my tablet for you to use." Samantha saw his hesitation and generously offered.
Alfred's eyes lit up but he still shook his head. "No need."
"It's okay. I was planning to get a new one anyway. Giving you the old one will just give me an excuse to ask my dad for a new one," Samantha said with a smile.
Alfred was still hesitant.
Billy said, "If she gives it to you, just take it. Otherwise, she won't sleep well."
"Why?" Alfred asked.
"Because she'll think you don't consider her a friend."
Alfred quickly said, "No, Samantha will always be my little fairy!"
Samantha was stunned for a moment, then smiled brightly. "A gift from the little fairy can't be refused!"
Alfred looked at her smiling face, feeling his ears heat up. "Thank you."
The kids were getting along great.
Meanwhile, the adults were in a tense standoff.
"So, Signe still thinks he can talk to the dead?" Nora asked.
"Of course I can," Signe replied.
Nora's face turned cold. "I'm not here to question you; I just want to know why you called Millie a jinx. Just because her parents died, it's her fault?"
Signe, with a straight face, said, "God told me. I'm just telling the truth."
Nora looked at him for a moment, then turned to Manuel and Dale. "Did God tell him that?"
Dale, who had just woken up, avoided Nora's eyes, scared she'd send him back to hell.
Manuel, though scared too, mustered the courage to say, "Please don't question Mr. Christensen. If he says so, it is so."
Nora sneered. "Want to know what it's like to be breathless too?"
Manuel stepped back in fear. "What do you want?"
"I just want the truth."
Seeing Nora step forward, Signe frowned. "Stop this nonsense! Mr. Rochet, are you going to let them disrespect us? Do you still want peace in your home?"
Signe knew how to manipulate people.
Sure enough, although Walter had doubts, he still spoke up, "Mrs. Gordon, let's stop here. We recognize your medical skills, but Signe also has his merits."
Nora's face remained cold. "I'm not denying him, but I can't let Millie be labeled a jinx. If he doesn't explain himself today, I won't let this go!"
She looked at Manuel. "You'd better tell me the truth about how you deceive people. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Signe's staff hit the ground heavily. "How dare you disrespect God!"
Nora's eyes turned cold. "Seraphina, make him shut up!"
"Yes!" Seraphina stepped forward with a needle.
"What are you doing?" Signe glared at Seraphina, but seeing the needle, he quickly dodged.
Frederick appeared in time, restraining him.
Seraphina smiled at Frederick, then jabbed the needle into Signe's neck, silencing him.
Manuel swallowed hard, cold sweat dripping. "What did you do to Mr. Christensen?"
Seraphina, after hearing the translation, said, "Didn't Signe teach you medical treatment? Oh right, he's just a fraud, so he probably only taught you how to scam people."
Manuel and Dale exchanged fearful glances.
Nora checked her watch. "I'll give you five seconds to decide. If you don't tell the truth, don't blame us for being unkind."
Hearing her warning, Manuel and Dale turned to run.
Frederick quickly caught up, grabbing their collars and dragging them back.
