Chapter 228 An Indirect Insult to Grandpa

"Come here, Alex, Billy, and Samantha. Have some fruit and snacks to tide you over," Jacob cheerfully offered, personally serving them.

The three children thanked him politely and looked around the exquisitely decorated villa in amazement.

The family thought the villa their mother had bought was spacious enough, but Jacob's house was even larger and more luxurious. Walking in from the outside, one had to cross a vast lawn. The whole villa looked like an architectural masterpiece designed for tourists to admire.

Having previously researched Aaron's background, Alex's reaction was immediate, and he quickly guessed Jacob's identity. A wave of surprise washed over him – could this be Mr. Gordon's grandfather?

"Sir, are you Mr. Aaron Gordon's grandfather?" Alex couldn't help but voice his inner query.

Jacob was surprised and pleased. "Alex, how did you figure it out?" The boy wasn't just delicately handsome, but also intelligent and wise. Jacob took an instant liking to him.

"It's because of the unique location here, and since your last name is Gordon, I made a guess," Alex explained truthfully.

Billy, standing nearby, pricked up his ears, his big eyes sparkling with realization. 'So, this is Mr. Gordon's grandfather?'

On the other side, Samantha blinked her large eyes, sharing the same understanding as Billy. She moved her small mouth to say, "You are dad's..."

Before she could finish, Alex swiftly interrupted, passing her a small cookie. "Samantha, try your favorite cookie."

Samantha took the cookie, seeing Alex shake his head at her, and she understood at once. 'Alex doesn't want me to call Mr. Gordon as dad in front of a stranger. But this is Mr. Gordon's grandfather! Why can't they just let him know?'

Meanwhile, a servant came to report that Aaron had returned. Jacob didn't wait to hear what Samantha wanted to say. His face turned stern in anticipation.

Soon, Aaron was wheeled in by Noe, sitting in his wheelchair.

"Grandfather," Aaron greeted.

Jacob kept a stern face and grunted in acknowledgment.

Aaron's gaze fell on the three children, who were staring at him. He smiled. "Who are these three young guests?"

The three children fell silent, wondering, 'Why is Mr. Gordon pretending not to know us?'

Jacob snorted, "They are good-looking. If you were married and had kids, your kids could be just as good-looking as you."

Aaron lifted an eyebrow slightly. "That's not certain. If the mother's genes aren't good, then even if I have strong genes, it wouldn't matter."

Jacob glared at him. "What's wrong with Suzy? If you married her, wouldn't your children be just as lovely?"

Aaron glanced at him and said in a calm voice, "Grandpa, you promised me that you wouldn't force me to marry a woman I don't love."

Jacob choked, "Then when will you be willing to get married?"

Aaron spoke deliberately, "If you agree to let me marry Nora, your wish will be fulfilled very soon."

He was adamant about marrying that doctor! Jacob exclaimed angrily, "Impossible! I have said she's not good enough for you. I won't agree to it, so you might as well give up on that idea."

Aaron nodded, continuing in his leisurely manner, "Then I guess your wish will have to wait for now. But the day will come eventually."

"You want to anger me to death, don't you?"

"Grandpa, don't be angry. You need to take care of your health."

The three children, listening to their exchange, suddenly understood what was happening. 'No wonder Mr. Gordon pretended not to recognize us. So, Jacob doesn't like our mom?'

Their fondness for Jacob plummeted in an instant.

Aaron, noting the change in the children's expressions, knew they were upset. He wheeled himself over to Samantha and lifted her onto his lap.

"Hello there, I feel like I've seen you kids somewhere before."

Samantha blinked her big eyes, looking up at the man whose face was full of smiles, unsure of what to do.

Alex pursed his lips and asked deliberately, "You're Mr. Aaron Gordon, right? You live in the Star River Bay villas, and so do we. We've probably seen each other before."

Aaron gave him a look, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Ah, that explains the familiarity. Are you close with my grandfather?"

Alex remained silent, casting a glance at Jacob.

Jacob, still irate at Aaron's disobedience, stiffly explained, "These kids are very clever and quick-witted. The brothers have exceptional intelligence. I felt an instant connection with them. They reminded me of you as a child. Thus, I decided to bring them over to play with them for a bit."

Aaron nodded, "They say sons inherit their mother's nature. With their smarts, their mother must be a woman of grace and kindness."

The three children were speechless. 'Is Mr. Gordon indirectly praising our mom?'

They loved hearing that.

Alex looked at Jacob, "Yes, our mom is the best mom in the world. She's beautiful inside and out, and we love her very much."

Billy added, "Right, everyone loves mom. Flowers bloom at her smile. Anyone who doesn't like her is a big dummy."

Samantha chimed in, "People who don't like mom are bad people!"

Aaron was speechless.

Jacob was blissfully unaware that he had just been insulted. With a jovial smile, he said, "Look at these three kids, so mature for their age, knowing to protect their vulnerable mother. It speaks volumes of their upbringing."

Aaron found it hilarious. "That's why it's important to marry a virtuous wife—children. Your father is a man of good taste."

The three kids fell silent—they didn't have a father, then. Yet, likely, Mr. Gordon would probably become their stepfather in the future.

Elsewhere, after Nora finished administering dry needling to Hollis, Hollis insisted she stay for dinner.

"There's no need. I can just eat at home," Nora politely declined.

"Nora, do you think our food isn't good enough for you?" Hollis chided.

"Of course not," Nora quickly reassured.

"Then stay for a meal," Hollis insisted once more.

"Yes, Nora, please stay and join us," Mary also encouraged.

When the elders requested so nicely, Nora felt it would be rude to refuse again. "All right then."

"Mary, let's have dinner," Baldwin said to Mary.

Nora followed them into the living room but then remembered Frederick. She got up, saying, "I just need to inform my driver."

"Nora, please have a seat. I'll go talk to him," Baldwin interrupted her.
