Chapter 35 Thought I was taking advantage of Nora
Nora returned home with the three kids in tow, only to find that Edric had already left.
The kids gathered around Aaron, eager to share their experiences from the interviews earlier in the day.
Aaron's face softened with a smile as that remarkable feeling arose within him once more.
It was as if his own children were reporting back to him about their day at school.
"Alright, you three, go wash your hands."
Nora gestured to the kids to go play.
In unison, they chirped a reply and scampered off towards Backyard Lane.
Nora wheeled Aaron into a room on the ground floor.
"Need to use the bathroom?" she probed.
Aaron's eyes glinted for a moment, "No need."
Edric had just assisted him, and he was comfortable for the time being.
"No need? You haven't gone all morning. Don't you want to?" Nora was already pushing the wheelchair close to the bathroom, inspecting Aaron with curiosity.
"I'm good," Aaron replied.
Nora's eyes narrowed slightly, and she reached toward his pants in silence.
"Thomas, you're not telling me you couldn't hold it and then...?"
Aaron was at a loss for words.
Did she really think he was a toddler?
"Nora, I'm starting to suspect you're just looking for an excuse to take advantage of me," Aaron said coolly.
Nora's hand paused as she eyed the man's stern expression. She let out a soft snort and, in a teasing gesture, stroked his chiseled face.
"Thomas, you eat so much, what's the harm if I take a little advantage? If you weren't so handsome, I would have kicked you out long ago," she said with a hint of impudence.
Aaron's expression darkened further.
"Nora, do you see me as just a pretty boy?"
Pretty boy?
Nora arched an eyebrow, her beautiful eyes scanning him.
"Not really."
Aaron's countenance relaxed slightly until her next words caused his face to darken again.
"You're not quite at that level," Nora remarked.
Not qualified to be a pretty boy?
Was his attractiveness being questioned?
Nora bent down slightly, her eyes playfully sweeping over his lower abdomen.
"Thomas, a pretty boy's got to charm his patrons. Do you think you're up for that?"
Was she doubting his prowess?
Aaron swiftly extended his arm, pulling her into his embrace with a swift motion.
"Nora, who do you think you're looking down on? Want to see if I can make you happy?"
His leg might be broken, but that didn't mean he was incapable.
His masculine scent enveloped her, alluring and with a tantalizing hint of restraint.
Caught off guard, Nora's slender hand brushed against his feverish chest, feeling his strong and steady heartbeat.
With each thud, it seemed to hammer on her own heart.
She lifted her gaze, her eyes locking onto his magnified handsome face, unconsciously swallowing.
This man was ridiculously good-looking!
Aaron's eyes drifted to her glossy lips, his Adam's apple bobbing unconsciously.
He tightened his grip on her waist, drawing her closer inch by inch.
As the man's face neared her own, Nora suddenly felt an unusual movement beneath her.
Her face heated up in an instant, and she hastily sprung up from him.
"Thomas, you—you..."
"What about me?"
Aaron's voice turned husky, "Nora, do we need to conduct a further experiment?"
Nora's eyes flickered, blushing furiously as she gave him a sharp glare.
"Thomas, if you dare get fresh with me again, watch out or you'll be in hot water!"
At the doorstep.
Samantha covered her mouth with her hands, turned, and scurried away.
This time, she couldn't interrupt Mommy and Mr. Thomas's kissing game!
Reaching the top of the stairs, she called out to her brothers, "Alex, Billy, I saw Mommy sitting in Mr. Thomas's lap, and her face was all red!"
Hearing her words, Alex furrowed his little brow, "Could it be Mommy really likes him?"
"With Mr. Thomas being so cool, of course Mommy would like him!" Samantha fluttered her large eyes, "Don't you guys like him?"
The brothers exchanged a glance, but Alex stayed silent.
Billy scratched his head, "It's not that we don't like him, but..."
"It's fine as long as we like him. Let's just let him be our Daddy," Samantha insisted eagerly.
Billy glanced at Alex, hesitating, "But he doesn’t make money; it will be really tough for Mommy to support us on her own."
Samantha pouted, "Billy, people who make money aren't always nice to Mommy, remember the big bad guy?"
Billy thought for a moment and nodded, "You have a point there. What do you think, Alex?"
Alex was always the decision-maker among the three.
"No rush, let's wait for his leg to heal. Then we can help Mommy check him out."
"Okay."
Samantha blinked, silently cheering on Mr. Thomas in her heart.
She believed in him!
Two days later, Nora received a call from the preschool.
The trio had aced their interview, and they'd be ready to join the school come the new term.
Nora was delighted and immediately shared the good news with Jenny.
Jenny was equally thrilled.
"That's fantastic, Nora! I'm actually downtown shopping. Do you want to bring the little ones out? Maybe we can pick up some school supplies?"
"Sounds good."
After hanging up, Nora changed clothes and went downstairs to gather the trio.
They were playing in the front yard. Aaron, seated in his wheelchair, watched over them taking martial arts stances. Samantha stood by his side, keeping time.
The heartwarming scene, basked in sunlight, felt so naturally perfect. A smile crept across Nora's lips. She could tell the kids were growing more and more fond of this man. With him around, there was more laughter in the house than ever before. And to think, she had almost let his charms sweep her off her feet!
Shaking the thought from her mind, Nora stepped outside.
"Kiddos, I'm heading out to shop with your godmother. Wanna come along?"
The three turned and looked at her in unison.
"Mommy, we're practicing right now. We'll stay," Alex said after a moment's hesitation.
"Mall trips are boring. This is way more fun," Billy chimed in.
Nora was taken aback but then looked expectantly at her daughter.
"Samantha, what about you? Want to come with Mommy?"
Surely her daughter, unlike her sons, would stick by her side.
"Mommy, I need to supervise the boys. I can't go shopping with you and godmother," Samantha replied.
Nora was speechless.
She glanced over at Aaron, noting the smug arch of his brow, then ruffled his hair with a beaming smile.
"Thomas, thanks for watching the little ones for me. I'll bring you a nice treat later—maybe a juicy bone."
Aaron was dumbfounded.
What did she take him for? A loyal hound dog, babysitting the kids?
An image flickered through his mind—A majestic golden retriever, a baby bottle dangling from its neck, looking up with damp eyes, diligently watching over the playful children!
Later, Nora arrived at the bustling downtown mall.
After parking, she reached for her phone to call Jenny, but her wrist was suddenly gripped.
