Chapter 871 Take a Drink for Him

Mateo's eyes lit up, and he grinned. "She's an amazing girl."

Tomas squinted and reminded him, "Mateo, don't forget she's already married."

Mateo nodded. "I know, Dad. Don't worry, I won't disgrace the royal family."

Tomas sighed, "I was young once too, I get it."

Mateo stayed silent, thinking of his late mother, Evelyn Wong, his fingers tightening slightly.

"Alright, since you want to recover here, I'll allow it. Once you're better, come back and help me out." Tomas stood up, ready to leave.

"Thanks, Dad."

Mateo smiled gratefully and tried to bow.

As he moved, he winced in pain.

"Don't move. Does the wound hurt? I'll get Dr. Smith to check on you," Tomas said quickly.

Mateo looked up, curiosity flashing in his eyes.

He felt Tomas was deliberately creating opportunities for him and Nora to spend time together.

Despite resenting Tomas for forcing Evelyn into depression and her untimely death, Mateo had to admit Tomas understood love.

Only love could drive people mad.

"Thanks, Dad."

Tomas smiled and walked out.

"Dr. Smith, please check on Mateo's wound; he's not feeling well."

Nora, who was waiting outside, quickly went in upon hearing this.

Tomas smiled slightly, turned, and bid farewell to Hugo and the others.

"Hugo, Mateo needs to recover here for a while. Please take good care of him for me."

"Of course," Hugo quickly agreed.

"No need to see me off, I'm leaving now."

Tomas left with his attendants.

In the room, Nora sat by Mateo's bed and asked, "Where does it hurt?"

Mateo held his chest and didn't speak.

Nora raised her hand to his right wrist, carefully checking his pulse.

Suddenly, Mateo grabbed her hand and said, "I'm fine."

Nora frowned and snapped, "Let go."

Mateo tightened his grip on her hand and continued, "Do you know what my father just said?"

"What?"

"He said you've seen my body, which is improper, and you need to take responsibility."

Mateo looked at Nora, spouting nonsense.

Nora's frown deepened. "Mateo, you're talking nonsense again."

"Nora, why don't you believe me?"

Mateo's gaze was deep, half-jokingly, "My father also said that as long as I like you, he'll make you my princess."

Nora's face turned cold, and she pulled her hand away. "Mateo, if you keep talking nonsense, I'll make you regret!"

She looked stern, and Mateo sighed inwardly but smiled outwardly.

"Nora, it was just a joke. Why are you so serious? Why don't you come in and take care of me?"

Those words were Mateo's true feelings.

If Nora had any feelings for him, Mateo would definitely have Tomas make it happen.

Unfortunately, Nora had no feelings for him.

He could only act foolishly to get a taste of it.

"Weren't you enjoying the story?" Nora said deliberately.

Mateo was at a loss for words and asked, "Nora, if you had a different husband, would you still be so devoted to him?"

Nora glanced at him and replied, "I'll tell you the answer in the next life."

Mateo was speechless again.

Nora was telling him she would never change her husband in this life!

Nora was truly a wise and ruthless woman!

At the base.

The project was finally successfully negotiated.

All three parties were thrilled, so the military threw a celebration at the best hotel in town to mark the successful cooperation.

Even though Aaron was itching to leave, he stayed out of respect.

He planned to find Nora first thing in the morning after the celebration.

The military folks were heavy drinkers, so the table was loaded with alcohol.

Aaron ended up drinking a lot, his face turning a bit red.

When Henrik offered another drink, Gabriella stepped in with a smile.

"Mr. Lefebvre, are you trying to drink Mr. Gordon under the table tonight?"

Henrik laughed, "Mr. Gordon and I get along great. We have to drink until we drop tonight. Come on, Mr. Gordon, cheers!"

Henrik raised his glass to clink with Aaron's.

Gabriella smiled and said, "Mr. Lefebvre, let me drink this one for Mr. Gordon."

"Why?"

"You're a heavy drinker, but Mr. Gordon can't keep up with you. If he drinks any more, he might have a problem. I don't think you want to ruin the mood, right? Let me toast you on his behalf."

Gabriella raised her glass to toast.

Henrik laughed and teased, "Ms. Costa, are you worried about Mr. Gordon?"

Gabriella looked serious. "Mr. Lefebvre, don't joke like that. Mr. Gordon and Mrs. Gordon have a great relationship, and I consider Mrs. Gordon like a sister."

"I'm actually doing this at Mrs. Gordon's request, to look after Mr. Gordon. If she hears about this, how can I work with Mr. Gordon in the future?"

Hearing this, Henrik laughed again. "Alright, I misspoke."

"You should be penalized with a drink."

Gabriella playfully scolded, then downed her drink in one go.

Henrik, being a good sport, drank his glass and another as a penalty.

Aaron was still relatively sober at this point.

He loosened his collar and felt relieved seeing Gabriella take a drink for him.

Henrik was indeed a heavy drinker.

If he kept drinking, he might end up with a stomach bleed.

When others came to toast, Gabriella mostly drank on Aaron's behalf.

Until Gabriella drank a lot, and she started asking for more drinks.

"Drink, Mr. Lefebvre, let's keep drinking!"

Gabriella raised her glass to clink with Henrik.

"Cheers, Ms. Costa, you can really hold your liquor."

Henrik accepted every drink but was clearly also drunk.

Seeing this, Aaron took the glass from Gabriella's hand.

"Mr. Lefebvre, I'm sorry, but I have to leave early tomorrow morning, so let's end it here for tonight. We'll meet again another time. This last drink is on me."

Aaron poured the drink into his glass and downed it in one go.

Henrik, though drunk, muttered a few complaints but didn't insist.

Aaron helped Gabriella up.

"Let's go, I'll take you to your room."

Gabriella, drunk and bleary-eyed, giggled at Aaron.

"Wow, there are three Mr. Gordons! You must be fake!"

She slapped Aaron's chest and then stumbled into his arms.

"Johnnie!"

Aaron frowned and called out to Johnnie, who had also been heavily drinking with the military.

"Here."

Johnnie steadied himself and went to support Gabriella.

Gabriella pushed Johnnie away.

"Don't touch me, try it if you dare!"

She then clung tightly to Aaron.

Johnnie, having drunk a lot, was pushed off balance and fell to the ground.

The pain sobered Johnnie up a bit. Seeing Aaron's deep frown, he quickly got up and tried to help Gabriella again.
