Chapter 489 You Had a Fight with Mom.
"Dad, I'm here," Nora greeted Ebenezer.
"Nora, you're here," Ebenezer's eyes lit up with anticipation upon seeing her.
After all, Nora held the title of Master Healer, and with her operating, he always felt more at ease.
"Dr. Smith, please follow me," William couldn't afford to be negligent and personally welcomed Nora to operate.
Nora nodded slightly and followed William.
Suzy's gaze flickered as she watched Nora's figure, feeling anxious and uneasy.
She thought, ‘Nora was the Master Healer, Dr. Sun! Would she be able to save Emma? If she did save Emma, the truth would be exposed. What would I do then?’
"Suzy, the surgery will take some time. Why don't you go and eat something first?" Ebenezer glanced at the time and realized it was already mealtime, he suggested to Suzy.
"I'm not hungry. I'll stay with you," Suzy replied.
She had no appetite now, only wanting to sit and wait for the outcome.
Ebenezer insisted as well, so they both sat on the chairs in the corridor, waiting.
Not long after, Kenneth arrived.
"Dad," he called.
"You're here," Ebenezer replied.
Kenneth and Suzy nodded at each other and then walked over to Ebenezer.
"Is Mom inside?" he asked.
"Yes, Nora is performing the surgery for her," Ebenezer replied.
They fell silent as they looked at the red indicator light above the emergency room.
After a while, Ebenezer turned to Kenneth. "Kenneth, when did you find out about Sandy's situation?" he asked, curious.
Kenneth remained silent for a moment and said, "When she was just pregnant."
Suzy, who was standing nearby, overheard their conversation about Sandy and became interested.
"Kenneth, how did you know that the person you married wasn't Sandy? Was it because of Zephyr? Did you sense something between them? That's why you investigated Cora, right?" Suzy scolded.
Hearing this, Kenneth's gaze turned cold.
"Suzy, let me remind you that Sandy is my wife. Please stop slandering her!" he reprimanded.
Although Kenneth was the head of the Hamilton Group, he had always been gentle and easygoing with his siblings, including Suzy.
This was the first time he had spoken to Suzy in such a manner, with his cold tone, warning.
Suzy retorted, "Kenneth, don't blame me for being blunt. Cora and Zephyr were already in a romantic relationship. She married you not out of love but for your power."
She added, "Moreover, she is also a Jinx. How can someone like her be the future hostess of the Hamilton family? If I were you, I would definitely divorce her immediately."
Hearing this, Kenneth's expression grew even colder.
"Shut up! It's none of your business!" he shouted.
Suzy looked into his eyes, feeling aggrieved. She ranted, "Kenneth, don't be angry with me! Even if you don't care about yourself, you should think about Dad and Howard. Cora is a jinx. She caused the death of her family members in the past."
She added, "Now that she's married to you, she will bring harm to the Hamilton family. Mom was pushed down the stairs by her and is still in danger!"
Kenneth's gaze became as cold as ice.
Suzy felt intimidated by his stare but continued, claiming, "Kenneth, why are you looking at me like that? I didn't say anything wrong!"
Kenneth continued to stare at her, inquiring, "Before Mom fell down the stairs, the servants heard an argument between you and Mom. What were you arguing about upstairs?"
Hearing this, Suzy became nervous, her gaze flickering.
She thought, ‘Those damn servants, they should keep their mouths shut!’
"Suzy, did you argue with your mom before she fell down the stairs?" Ebenezer interrogated as he furrowed his brow. "Was your argument with your mom led to this?"
Suzy was flustered and quickly denied, "How is that possible? At that time, Mom found out that Cora had replaced Sandy and married Kenneth, so she wanted to confront Cora, and I was trying to persuade Mom."
"Dad, you know Mom's temper. When she gets angry, she speaks loudly, so the servants thought we were arguing," Suzy remarked. She quickly found an excuse for herself.
Kenneth narrowed his brown eyes, asking, "You said you were persuading Mom?"
"Yes," Suzy replied.
"What were you persuading her about?" he asked.
"I was persuading her not to get angry and to talk things out," Suzy said.
Kenneth looked at Suzy, puzzled. "Suzy, you called Cora a jinx. Just now, you were hoping that I would divorce her quickly. Why would you try to calm Mom down when she found out the truth?"
Suzy was surprised, and seeing Ebenezer's questioning look, she became nervous.
She wondered, 'Is Kenneth starting to suspect me? No, I can't let him have such a misconception.'
Drawing on her years of acting experience, Suzy quickly concealed her guilty conscience.
Suzy claimed, "Kenneth, what do you mean by that? Are you suspecting me? Do you think I did that? She is my Mom, who has been the best to me in this family. I wouldn't be so cruel!"
As she spoke, she wiped away her tears, displaying a pitiful and indignant look.
Kenneth looked at her tearful and aggrieved appearance, silent for a moment.
He continued, "I don't have such thoughts, but I also want you to experience what it feels like to be wrongly accused. Suzy, if something happens to Mom and it's not your fault, but everyone believes it is, how would you feel?"
He mulled over, 'I did have suspicions, but as Suzy said, everyone knows how good Mom has been to her. I don't think she would be so cruel. I want Suzy to understand Sandy's feelings. After all, she has been blaming Sandy all along.'
Suzy remained silent, lowering her eyelids slightly to conceal her emotions.
She brooded, 'What feelings can I have? Does Kenneth think I would be angry? No, I'm just feeling guilty because Mom’s falling down the stairs was caused by me.'
"Kenneth, I know you're trying to protect your wife. But Suzy is your sister. Until there is any evidence, don't accuse her," Ebenezer said, he didn't show favoritism toward anyone.
"Suzy, don't call Sandy a jinx anymore. No matter who she is, she is now my daughter-in-law, and she was carrying the child of the Hamilton family, so show some respect toward her," Ebenezer chided.
Kenneth and Suzy fell silent.
Kenneth glanced at the time, called Ayden, and asked him to arrange lunch.
Two hours later, Howard, who had just finished wrapping up the project in Houston, received the news of Emma's accident and rushed over by private jet, coming along with Aaron.
Seeing the several men gathered together, Suzy looked at Aaron's handsome face and tightened her grip on her fingers.
She chewed on the question, 'Why did Aaron come back, too? If Nora manages to save Emma, the truth will be revealed to everyone. Then they will truly be a happy family! What should I do?'
And so, in her anxious and uneasy heart, three more hours passed. Finally, Emma's surgery was over.
The door of the emergency room opened, and Suzy was the first to notice. She immediately stood up and rushed over.
"What happened to my Mom? Did you save her?" she asked anxiously, which others interpreted as her concern for Emma.
But only Suzy knew that she wasn't hoping for Emma to survive, but for an apology.
