Chapter 703 Courage is Commendable
Samuel understood and said, "Mr. Howard, let me teach you a simple dish today."
"Alright, tell me what to do?"
Howard rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, revealing his forearm.
With a serious expression, he appeared ready to learn.
"First, we select a good piece of meat and remove the skin."
As Samuel explained, he demonstrated.
Seeing that he was about to cut the meat, Howard quickly said, "Let me do the cutting. You can watch me."
"Alright," Samuel respectfully agreed.
Nora stood behind Samuel, watching Howard clumsily pick up the knife and start cutting the meat, her beautiful eyes wandering.
This was Howard's first time cooking.
A moment worth commemorating!
Thinking this, she took out her phone and started recording a short video.
Just as she began, Howard let out a soft cry.
Howard cut his hand!
Beside him, Samuel was shocked. "Mr. Hamilton, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Howard furrowed his brow, washed the wound in the sink.
"I'll get a band-aid for you." Samuel hurried to get a band-aid.
Nora, behind them, was also startled, about to step forward to check on Howard, but something made her stop in her tracks.
Howard cut his hand while cooking for the first time. If Evella found out, she would surely feel sorry for him.
She needed to give Howard this opportunity to move Evella.
Even if Howard ultimately failed to master cooking, he would still leave a favorable impression on Evella by virtue of his injuries sustained in the attempt!
With these thoughts, Nora continued recording without interruption.
After Samuel brought the band-aid and applied it to Howard's wound, Howard resumed the cooking process at hand.
After recording a short video, Nora sent it to Evella, adding a line. "Look, someone who is clueless about life is trying to immerse himself in the culinary world!"
At that moment, Evella was with Richard and Joseph. She had just visited Richard's hometown to pay respects to Zack and her grandmother, who passed away last year.
After the visit, the three of them were on their way back home.
Sitting in the car, Evella saw the video of Howard cooking that Nora sent, feeling both touched and concerned.
She typed a message.
Evella: [Nora, tell him to stop. He's a doctor, and his hands are important. Don't risk it for something trivial.]
Howard had actually gone to learn cooking.
It was just a casual remark at a gathering, and Evella thought Howard had forgotten about it!
Seeing Evella frown, Richard asked, "What's wrong?"
Evella handed him the phone, saying, "Howard is learning to cook and cut his hand."
Richard took the phone, replayed the video, raised an eyebrow, and commented, "He's really clumsy, and he even cuts himself while chopping vegetables."
Upon hearing this, Evella was displeased. "Richard, don't say that. It's his first time cooking."
Richard said, "I've never seen someone as clumsy as him on their first try. Ask Joseph if he cut his finger the first time he cooked."
Joseph, who was driving, glanced at the rearview mirror and chuckled. "No."
"See, I think Howard is just a good-for-nothing fool." Richard teased.
Evella pouted, defending Howard. "Howard is dedicated to medicine."
"Evella, don't make excuses for him," Richard said.
Glancing at Joseph in the driver's seat, he continued, "Look at Joseph, not only does he manage the company's affairs well, but he can also cook. An excellent man should be like him."
Evella remained silent, pouting.
Joseph laughed. "Richard, don't praise me too much, I'm not as outstanding as you say. Dr. Hamilton is good, at least he's willing to try unfamiliar things for Evella, his courage is commendable."
Evella liked hearing that.
She said, "See, his courage is commendable!"
Richard glanced at her. "Well, you're spoiling him, and you'll regret it in the future. Don't come crying to me when you get married!"
"Dad, I didn't say I'm going to marry him right away," Evella said playfully.
Richard replied, "That's what you said. At least wait another ten years before getting married!"
Ten years!
By then, she would be a thirty-year-old aunt!
Was Richard being too harsh?
Evella was at a loss.
The phone rang, and Nora sent another message.
Nora: [Are you feeling sorry for him? If I tell Howard, he'll be thrilled.]
Evella: [Yes, tell him to stop.]
In the kitchen, Nora saw that Howard had cut the meat, prepared the ingredients, and was heating the oil in the pan.
She walked over and shook her phone. "Howard, I told Evella that you're learning to cook and cut your finger. She's really worried, and she wants you to stop."
Upon hearing this, Howard unconsciously straightened his back a bit.
"No, as a man, I have to follow through with what I say."
Nora knew Howard wouldn't give up halfway.
Not only would he not give up, but he would be even more determined because of Evella's concern.
Watching Howard pick up the marinated meat and prepare to put it in the hot oil, she aimed her phone at him to record a video.
Soon, Howard tossed the meat into the hot oil.
Lacking experience, he didn't control the force when tossing it, causing a few drops of oil to splash up instantly, landing on his arm.
Howard took a sharp breath, instinctively took two steps back, and shook his hand.
Samuel was startled again. "Mr. Hamilton, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Should I flip the meat now?"
Ignoring the burn on his arm, Howard quickly flipped the meat in the pan.
Nora was worried about him.
Howard was getting injured for love. Getting a few more wounds would surely touch hearts.
Following the steps, Howard finally finished the dish.
Excited, he said to Nora, "Nora, stop recording. Come and taste my cooking."
As Nora walked over, she continued recording.
Her shots even lingered for two seconds at the spot where Howard was injured on his arm.
"Howard, your arm has blisters!"
Howard glanced at the wound, unconcerned. "Just a minor injury, no big deal. I told you to stop recording. Come taste my creation."
Howard was eager to know if his dish was successful.
Nora stopped recording, picked up a fork, and took a bite.
"Not bad!"
Although the appearance and taste of this dish were definitely not as good as what Samuel could make.
But for Howard, who was cooking for the first time, he was already quite talented.
