Chapter 833 You'were Not My Mommy

Ellie listened to James's translation and nodded, saying, "I've watched Millie grow up; of course, I want the best for her."

Nora smiled and said, "You are a kind-hearted girl."

Ellie shyly adjusted her hair and then asked James, "James, is Millie being held captive by Mr. Rochet now?"

James replied, "It's not clear yet. We just came from the Rochet family, and we didn't see Millie there. We suspect that Millie might not be there."

Ellie frowned and said, "If Millie isn't there, where could she be?"

"She might have been taken by Stov's cousin, Hugo."

James and Ellie exchanged a few words, and then he translated for Nora.

Nora looked at Ellie and asked, "Ms. Reed, do you know Hugo?"

Ellie nodded and replied, "I've met him before. He has a good relationship with Stov. After the incident, many of Stov's servants were called back by his assistant to work for him. His assistant also approached me, but I wanted to work in a different environment, so I didn't go."

Listening to James's translation, Nora's eyes lit up.

"Do you still keep in touch with those people?"

"Yes, I have a close friend who is now serving Hugo's wife."

Nora felt a surge of excitement.

The reason she wanted to talk to Ellie was to see if she could find a breakthrough through her because the servants must have their own circles.

And given Hugo's good relationship with Stov, it was possible Hugo would arrange for Stov's people after his death.

It turned out she was right.

"Ms. Reed, can I ask you a favor?" Nora asked.

"What is it?"

"Can you ask your friend if Millie was taken to Hugo's house?"

"Sure."

Meanwhile, in an upscale neighborhood near the city, there were several standalone villas.

One of these villas was Hugo's home.

The hostess of the house was Hugo's wife, Aisha.

At this moment, Aisha was holding a crying Millie, gently comforting her.

"Millie, don't cry. If you keep crying, you won't look pretty."

"I want to go home. You promised that once I was clean, you'd take me home. You're liars. I want to find Mommy. I want to find Billy. Nathan, take me home!"

Millie twisted her small body, crying pitifully as she looked at Nathan, who was standing nearby, wanting him to take her home.

Nathan had a headache and pretended not to hear.

"Nathan, go check if the food is ready," Aisha instructed.

"Okay," Nathan responded respectfully.

Aisha looked at Millie and said, "Millie, you must be hungry. Let's eat first, okay?"

Millie, with tears in her eyes, sobbed, "If I eat, will you take me home?"

Aisha gently coaxed, "Let's eat first, and then we'll talk, okay?"

Millie shook her head and cried louder. "I don't want to eat. You're all liars. You're tricking me again. You will never take me home!"

Aisha said, "But if you don't eat, you'll get hungry later. If you get hungry, you'll get sick, and then you won't be able to see your mommy."

Millie cried even harder. "I want Mommy. I want Billy!"

Hugo walked in just as Millie's heart-wrenching cries filled the room.

He frowned and said to Aisha, "Why aren't you comforting her?"

"I would if I could," Aisha said helplessly.

Hugo glanced at her, clearly displeased, saying, "I knew you couldn't handle it."

Aisha's face stiffened, and a look of embarrassment flashed in her eyes.

Hugo turned his head and called towards the door, "Come in."

A slender woman, her every movement graceful and elegant, swept into the room. She smiled at Aisha. "Hello, Mrs. Rochet."

Aisha, still comforting Millie, looked up at the woman, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.

"Hugo, who is she?"

Hugo didn't answer her but looked at Millie in her arms.

"Millie, look who's here."

Millie, with tear-streaked cheeks, was still sobbing and calling for Nora.

But when she saw the woman, Jasmine Nguyen, her crying stopped abruptly.

Memories flooded her mind.

The gentle and beautiful Emmeline was always by her side.

Emmeline would smile at her gently and kiss her little face, calling her baby.

This was her mommy!

"Mommy!"

Millie shouted, then broke free from Aisha's embrace and ran towards Jasmine.

Jasmine quickly hugged her and comforted, "Millie, good girl, don't cry."

Millie clung to Jasmine, full of dependence and grievance, saying, "Mommy, I missed you so much, Mommy!"

Hugo watched this scene, a smile playing on his lips.

Aisha was full of confusion. She got up and walked to his side, looking inquisitive.

"Is she Millie's mommy?"

Emmeline was already dead.

"Let her take care of Millie from now on."

Hugo didn't explain further and said to Jasmine, "Emmeline, take Millie to eat."

"Okay."

Jasmine responded, then said to Millie, "Millie, let's go eat."

Millie sniffled and obediently let Jasmine lead her to the dining room.

Jasmine lifted her onto a chair and smiled gently at her.

Millie kept looking at her and suddenly asked, "Mommy, didn't you go to heaven? How did you come back?"

Jasmine's smile froze for a moment, then she coaxed, "Because Mommy couldn't bear to leave you, so I came back."

Millie stared at her, then excitedly shouted, "You're lying. Billy said that when people go to heaven, it means they're dead. Dead people can't come back. You're not Mommy. You're a liar!"

Jasmine was speechless.

Millie was really smart; she couldn't fool her!

"Mommy was just joking with you. Actually, Mommy didn't die. Mommy went to heal."

Suspicion flashed in Millie's eyes. She slid off the chair, came to Jasmine's side, and lifted her shirt.

Jasmine was startled and quickly grabbed her hand, asking, "Millie, what are you doing?"

Millie said, "Mommy has a red, heart-shaped birthmark on her tummy. I want to see if you have it on your tummy!"

Of course, Jasmine didn't have any birthmarks on her tummy!

Because she wasn't really Emmeline.

Millie didn't see Emmeline's distinctive birthmark, and her eyes reddened again.

"You're not my mommy. I want my mommy!"

Jasmine was at a loss. She looked at Hugo, not knowing what to say.

Hugo frowned slightly. He hadn't expected Millie to be so smart and difficult to handle.

He thought for a moment and began to weave a lie.

"Millie, listen to me. She's not your mommy, but she's your mommy's sister, your aunt."

Millie stopped crying and looked at him with tearful eyes.

Hugo continued, "Your mommy went to heaven, but she kept worrying about you, so she appeared in your aunt's dream and asked her to find you and take good care of you. So, from now on, let your aunt take care of you, okay?"
