Chapter 1056 Really So Gentle and Considerate
Samantha kicked things off, playing the piano beautifully while Wesley sang.
Wesley's voice was soft and sweet, like he was serenading someone special. It made everyone's heart skip a beat.
When Wesley hit the chorus, they started a duet. Samantha got a bit excited since she didn't expect Wesley to play the piano too.
She kept watching his technique and made a small mistake. "Sorry, I messed up."
Samantha stopped, feeling embarrassed. She thought, 'How could I mess up in front of Wesley? So embarrassing!'
Wesley smiled, "Samantha, did you do that on purpose?"
Samantha bit her lip, feeling awkward. She looked down. "You know I'm not a pro, so you messed up on purpose to save my pride, right?" Wesley added.
Samantha looked up, meeting Wesley's smiling eyes, her ears burning with embarrassment.
To her, Wesley wasn't saving himself; he was saving her. He didn't want her to feel bad for making a mistake, so he covered for her. She thought he was really considerate.
Her heart raced, and she sat up straight, taking a deep breath. "Wesley, let's start over."
"Okay."
They started again. This time, Samantha focused completely, not daring to slack off.
When they finished, Wesley clapped. "As expected of Mr. Bennett's top student, you played wonderfully!"
Samantha smiled. "It's not as good as you say. I'm just glad I didn't embarrass you."
Wesley replied, "No way! I'm worried my level isn't up to yours!"
Samantha said, "How could that be? You played really well!"
"Really?"
"Really."
Wesley looked at her. "Samantha, don't flatter me. Since we're performing together, I want it to be perfect, so don't hesitate to give me advice."
Samantha blinked. She had been flattering him a bit. Playing the piano well takes daily practice. Though Wesley played well, he wasn't a pro and there was a gap compared to her.
Since Wesley asked, Samantha stopped being modest. "Okay, there were a few things that could be better."
"Great, please guide me more in the future." Wesley smiled.
Every word he said felt like a lover's whisper. Samantha's heart pounded. She quickly looked away. "Wesley, you're making me shy."
Seeing her blush, Wesley's smile deepened. He ruffled her hair. "Samantha, you're so cute."
'Wesley thinks I'm cute! Does he like me a little?' Samantha's heart was about to burst. She wanted to ask him directly.
Just then, the music room door opened. Elijah stood there with a bag, seeing Samantha and Wesley's close moment. His grip on the bag tightened.
Samantha turned and saw him. The question she was about to ask got swallowed back. "Elijah, do you need something?"
Wesley turned to look. Elijah snapped out of it and walked in. "I got you guys some drinks. How about a break?"
Wesley glanced at Samantha. "Thirsty? Let's take a break."
"Okay." Samantha stood up and walked over with Wesley.
Elijah handed a coffee to Wesley, then another to Samantha. As she reached for it, Elijah's hand slipped.
The coffee hit the ground, splashing onto Samantha's leg and white shoes.
"Sorry, I lost my grip," Elijah apologized, squatting to wipe the stains with his sleeve.
Samantha quickly stopped him. "It's okay, I'll clean it myself."
She smiled at Wesley, grabbed a tissue, and left the room.
Watching her go, Wesley frowned at Elijah. "How could you be so careless?"
"My hand slipped," Elijah said, looking apologetic.
"Clean it up," Wesley said, grabbing a pack of tissues and leaving the room.
Elijah's expression darkened as she stared at the door, thinking, 'Does Wesley really like Samantha?'
At the public restroom sink, Samantha was using a wet tissue to clean her leg and shoes.
She wore a white knee-length skirt and white sneakers, showing off her youthful energy.
As she bent down to clean her shoe, she saw Wesley squatting in front of her.
"Let me do it," he said, gently wiping her leg with a tissue.
Wesley's movements were gentle and serious.
Samantha looked at him, feeling a mix of surprise and shyness.
The spots he wiped tingled, reaching her heart. "Wesley, I can do it myself."
"Don't move," Wesley smiled, continuing to clean her shoes.
Seeing his gentle demeanor, Samantha's heart raced. She wondered, 'Should I ask him? Should I confess?'
"All done," Wesley said, standing up and washing his hands.
Samantha hesitated, looking at his back. She thought, 'We still have to perform together. If he doesn't feel the same, it'll be so awkward. But he's so gentle and considerate! Maybe he does like me.'
"Here," Wesley handed her a cup of coffee.
Samantha snapped out of it. "Wesley, this is your coffee."
"I haven't drunk it yet. You take it."
"It's okay, you drink it."
"Don't be polite. My teacher can't go thirsty," Wesley joked.
Samantha laughed. Seeing his gentle eyes, her feelings stirred again. She took the coffee, took a deep breath, and was about to speak.
Just then, Elijah's voice called out, "Wesley, your grandma's on the phone."
