Chapter 905 Jane's Unrequited Love

Emilio: [You know my rates. One piece of info costs ten million. The data you want? That's at least a hundred million.]

Emilio sent another message.

Jane was speechless and sent a bloody knife emoji.

Jane: [Are you out of your mind?]

Emilio: [I don't even know this Zephyr guy. Why should I help him?]

Jane: [You're not helping him. I'm asking for your help, okay?]

Emilio paused, then sent another message.

Emilio: [Is he really your fiancé?]

Jane: [Yes.]

Emilio went silent.

Jane: [So, are you gonna help me or not?]

Emilio: [I always thought you liked tough guys. Didn't expect you to go for a pretty boy.]

Jane was speechless again.

Jane: [First, he's not a pretty boy. Second, this is serious. It's about my job. Are you helping or not?]

Emilio: [Wait and see.]

Jane sighed, took a sip of water, and went back to reading documents, waiting for Emilio's message.

When Zephyr came out of the shower, Jane was still reading.

He tossed the towel aside. "Stop reading. Go take a shower first."

"Okay."

Jane didn't argue. She put the documents and her phone aside and got up to stretch.

"I forgot to bring up my suitcase. I'll go get it."

Zephyr looked surprised. "I'll go."

"No, you're still injured. Don't move around. I'll go."

Waving her hand, Jane grabbed the car keys and left.

Zephyr started to get up but sat back down.

Jane had a no-nonsense personality.

Just then, a message notification sounded.

Zephyr glanced over and saw it was Jane's phone on the coffee table.

He took a look and saw it was a message from Emilio to Jane.

Emilio: [Data has been sent to your email.]

Zephyr squinted. 'What data is Emilio sending to Jane?'

As he was thinking, Emilio sent another message.

Emilio: [He's not a pretty boy? He looks like a woman.]

Zephyr's face darkened.

This Emilio was shameless, talking trash behind his back!

Zephyr picked up the phone to unlock it, but it was password-protected, and he didn't know Jane's password.

Soon, Emilio sent another message.

Emilio: [Are you settling for less because you can't get what you want?]

Zephyr's face darkened further, his brows furrowed.

He thought, 'Jane can't get what she wants?'

'Does Emilio mean Jane had a crush before?'

'What kind of man does she like?'

Emilio: [If you're changing your taste and want to date a man, pick someone else. Like me, at least we know each other.]

Emilio sent another message.

Zephyr's face darkened even more.

This Emilio was blatantly trying to break him and Jane up.

Shameless.

Seeing that Jane wasn't replying, Emilio asked.

Emilio: [Why aren't you saying anything?]

'Because she can't!' Zephyr tried a few more passwords but none worked.

At that moment, the door opened.

Jane was back.

Zephyr quickly put the phone back on the table and went to the kitchen to get some water.

Jane opened the door and brought in her suitcase.

Her phone rang just then.

She picked it up and saw it was a call from Emilio.

She answered directly, "Is the data ready?"

Emilio was silent for a moment. "Didn't you see the messages I sent you?"

Jane said, "I was busy and didn't check my phone. What's up?"

"Nothing, check them when you can."

"What about the data I asked for?"

"It's ready. I sent it to your email."

Emilio hung up right after.

Jane raised an eyebrow at the dial tone.

She thought, 'What's the matter with Emilio today?'

'Why so impatient?'

Zephyr walked into the living room with a cup, pretending to ask casually, "Who called?"

"Emilio."

Jane replied, glancing at her phone and noticing the many messages from Emilio.

She frowned at each one she read.

When she finished, she looked up to see Zephyr watching her.

"Did you look at my phone just now?" Jane asked.

"No, I was getting some water," Zephyr lied. "But I heard someone messaging you. What's up?"

Jane waved it off. "Nothing, I need to organize my stuff."

She didn't want Zephyr to know Emilio was badmouthing him behind his back, to avoid him overthinking.

Watching Jane take her phone and suitcase into the guest room, Zephyr's expression darkened.

He thought, 'Sneaky, is Jane considering Emilio's confession?'

'Or would she confide in Emilio about her unrequited love?'

'Who did she like before?'

In the guest room, Jane frowned at the message suggesting she choose Emilio.

'Does Emilio want a beating?' She thought.

Jane called Emilio, ready to scold him.

But he declined the call.

Then Emilio sent a message.

Emilio: [Busy, talk in messages.]

Jane scoffed.

Since childhood, Emilio always acted like this when he felt guilty.

He didn't dare talk to her directly.

Jane: [Feeling guilty now? If you send any more nonsense, believe me, I'll beat you up.]

Emilio quickly replied: [Which part was nonsense? I'm stating facts, okay?]

Jane: [First, I said Zephyr isn't a gigolo. He's braver than anyone. In a dangerous moment, he took two bullets for me.]

Jane: [Second, my taste hasn't changed. I've never liked anyone, okay? Except for Felix, but he's my idol, not someone I like romantically.]

Jane: [Third, if I liked you, would you want me to commit incest?]

Emilio quickly responded.

Emilio: [What incest? We're not related by blood.]

Jane: [We may not be related, but we've known each other since you were little. We're like siblings. I still remember you wetting the bed and crying with a runny nose, asking me to play with you. You want me to like you? I'm not that twisted!]

After sending the message, Emilio didn't reply.

Jane sensed something.

She typed: [Do you like me?]

But she deleted it.

She didn't want to bring it up, to avoid awkwardness in the future.

Jane waited a bit longer, but Emilio didn't reply.

He probably wouldn't.

'Emilio has feelings for me?' Jane shook her head, tossed her phone aside, and opened her suitcase to unpack.

After organizing, Jane grabbed her clothes to shower.

When she opened the door, Zephyr was standing there.
