Chapter 848 Men Really Liked to Be Jerks
As they were talking to Millie, Jasmine was curiously observing them. Doubt crept into her mind..
"Mrs. Rochet, are they the Chrisland people who are adopting Millie?"
"Yes," Aisha responded indifferently.
Jasmine hesitated slightly and said, "Mrs. Rochet, did you bring them back? Does Mr. Rochet know? Are you planning to let them take Millie away? If Hugo finds out, he might be very angry."
Upon hearing this, Aisha's gaze turned colder.
"Jasmine, let's be clear: your role is childcare, nothing more. I run this household, and my family matters are not your concern."
Jasmine felt a flash of embarrassment on her face and bit her lip without saying a word.
Her lowered eyes concealed her ambition.
Whether as a mistress or a servant, she would not be content to be so belittled!
At this moment, Hugo hurried back after receiving the news.
Seeing the few people in the house, his expression was not pleasant.
In the morning, Gabriella had come to him, pleading for him to allow Nora and Aaron to take Millie back to Chrisland.
Of course, he had refused on the spot.
Nora and Aaron moved with calculated precision.
On one hand, they sought a third party to persuade him, and on the other, they approached Aisha, starting with her.
And Aisha actually brought them back!
He was so disappointed in her.
"You're back."
Seeing Hugo return, Aisha went up to him and took his coat.
Hugo glanced at her coldly, then shifted his gaze to Aaron and the others, finally stopping on Aaron's face.
"Mr. Gordon, it's an honor to have you here."
Aaron said calmly, "We came uninvited. I hope you don't mind."
"Please, have a seat."
Hugo smiled lightly.
After the pleasantries, he turned to Aisha and began to scold her, "Who told you to act on your own, Aisha? Don't you know how to be a good wife?"
In front of everyone, he scolded her without any regard, making Aisha feel very embarrassed.
"You mean I acted on my own by inviting guests to our home? They wanted to visit us, so I invited them in. I don't think I did anything wrong," Aisha said.
Hugo glared at Aisha and said, "Do you want to be my wife or not?"
Aisha's eyes flashed with mockery. "Hugo, are you trying to use this as an excuse to divorce me? Fine, after all, it's not me who can't have children. If you want a divorce, I have no objections!"
Hugo was stunned and squinted his eyes. "What did you say? Say it again?"
Aisha stood straight, her demeanor no longer gentle and weak.
"I said it's not me who can't have children. Dr. Smith just diagnosed me. I can have children. It's you who has a low sperm count and can't get me pregnant, okay?"
Hearing this, Hugo's face changed, and he angrily said, "What nonsense are you talking about? I can't be sick. If I were sick, you wouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place. Are you saying you cheated on me?"
Aisha suddenly looked at him and then slapped Hugo.
"Enough, Hugo! Stop slandering me!"
The slap was crisp and loud.
The few servants in the house gasped, shocked by the scene.
Hugo slowly turned his head, his face gloomy and full of disbelief.
"Aisha, are you crazy? How dare you hit me!"
Aisha's eyes were slightly red.
She took a deep breath and said, "Why can't I hit you? A single slap couldn't ever make up for the years of pain you've inflicted!"
"Hugo, I'm fed up. All this time, I felt guilty for not being able to get pregnant, so I endured it when you cheated on and belittled me."
"But have you forgotten why I miscarried in the first place? It was because you cheated on me with your secretary, causing me to fall down the stairs in a daze. You killed your own child!"
"I used to be a pampered girl, pursued by many men. If it weren't for loving you, why would I endure all this?"
"Hugo, I'm warning you, if you don't reflect on yourself, then let's get a divorce. Dr. Smith said I can have children. If I leave you, I can still be a mother. But you will be alone for the rest of your life!"
Aisha's words were firm, and Hugo's face changed. He fell speechless.
His gaze instinctively swept over Aaron and Nora, who stood calmly to the side, and James, who was holding Millie and covering her ears to prevent her from hearing their conversation.
After a while, Hugo asked, "Are you serious? Can you really have children?"
Aisha's expression was cold, saying, "Mrs. Gordon is the renowned Dr. Weaver. Don't you trust her?"
Of course, Hugo trusted Nora's medical skills.
If Nora said he had a problem, then he definitely had a problem.
Aisha had been pregnant before, so he always thought it was Aisha's fault for not being able to conceive again.
He never thought it was his sperm that had issues.
So, every time Hugo was unhappy, he would speak harshly to Aisha.
And Aisha, feeling guilty, always endured it.
Over time, Hugo forgot that Aisha was once Aisha was once adored and cherished like a precious jewel.
Seeing Aisha's proud and cold demeanor, Hugo lowered his stance and reached for her hand.
"I know I'm not handling this well, but could we please discuss this privately later?"
He softened his tone, his expression somewhat ingratiating.
Aisha kept a stern face and said nothing.
Nora, watching this scene, silently cheered for Aisha.
Women were really too emotional.
Because of love, they endured grievances in marriage.
So sometimes women need to be a bit ruthless and loved themselves more.
Men could be quite despicable; when they felt a woman didn't love them, they came crawling back.
"Do you still think I was wrong to invite guests to our home?"
Aisha asked coldly.
"Of course not. You are the mistress of the house. You can make such decisions," Hugo quickly said.
Aisha's tense expression relaxed slightly. She glanced at Nora and said, "Dr. Smith just said she can treat your condition."
Hugo's brow furrowed slightly.
He wanted to deny that he was sick.
After all, as a man, having fertility issues was quite embarrassing.
But Hugo could adapt to circumstances, so he said nothing.
For many years, not having children had been a sore point for Hugo, and he certainly wanted to have his own children as soon as possible.
"Dr. Smith, am I really sick?" Hugo asked again, still uneasy.
Before Nora could speak, Aisha sneered, "If you're not sick, why haven't any of your mistresses give you a child"
