Chapter 788 Even Gentle People Would Resist When Pushed to the Limit

Jenny called twice, but no one answered.

She remembered what Edric said last night, that Aaron had asked Edric and Lucas to find an excuse to get her and Becky out of the way. Now, Aaron must be resting in the suite with Nora. So, Jenny grabbed her bag and went straight to the Oman Hotel.

Taking the elevator to the luxury suite, Jenny rang the doorbell.

At this moment, Nora was groggy from sleep. Hearing the doorbell, she slowly opened her eyes.

Looking around at the layout, Nora was momentarily stunned before her thoughts gradually cleared.

She was in the hotel now. Last night, she and Aaron had made love and didn't sleep until the middle of the night.

She must have slept like a log again.

The doorbell kept ringing. Nora yawned, got out of bed, and went to open the door.

"Coming!"

Nora walked to the door, glanced through the peephole, and saw Jenny standing outside.

Surprised, she opened the door. "Jenny?"

Jenny looked at Nora's sleepy face and pouted. "So you are still here. Is Aaron around?"

"He's not here; he should have gone to the office. What time is it?" Nora tidied her hair, feeling a bit uneasy, and stepped aside to let Jenny in.

"It's eight-thirty now," Jenny said.

Nora yawned again. "Have a seat. If you want coffee, help yourself. I'll go brush my teeth and wash my face first."

"Okay."

Jenny sat on the sofa, looking at her phone.

At this moment, she was still hoping Edric would retract the announcement.

But she was destined to be disappointed.

After freshening up, Nora came out of the bathroom and saw Jenny looking distracted. She knew something must be up.

She sat next to Jenny and asked with concern. "What's wrong? Did you have another fight with Edric?"

"Yes." Jenny didn't hold back.

"What happened? Is it because of Fiona again?" Nora frowned slightly.

Jenny bit her lip. "It's not just because of Fiona. I think there's something wrong with our marriage."

Nora was taken aback. "What kind of problem?"

Jenny gave a bitter smile. "I suddenly understand why people say compatibility matters to a marriage. Only when you're compatible will your values and outlook on life align."

Nora looked at her. "You mean you found out that your values and outlook on life don't align with Edric's?"

"Yes."

Jenny nodded. "Last night, Fiona called, insisting that Edric go back to the Bishop Manor. He refused, and then Edward called, saying Fiona had a heart attack and he needed to go back immediately."

"I was very angry and snapped at Edward. Edric didn't approve, saying I shouldn't talk to him like that."

"I understand what Edric meant. He thinks I don't know how to talk, that I'm not tactful, and that I won't be a good hostess for the Bishop family in the future. Do you think our values are misaligned?"

Hearing this, Nora said, "It's not that serious. Couples always say hurtful things when they fight. Don't overthink it."

Jenny shook her head. "That's just one thing. What really gets to me is something else Edric did."

"What is it?"

"Do you remember Ulysses?"

Nora thought for a moment. "The artist we met at the club the other night?"

Jenny nodded, furious. "Edric had the company terminate Ulysses' contract just because he danced with me. How could he do that? Why involve an innocent person?"

"Nora, you don't know. Ever since we got married, he's been like this. Every time I get a little too close to a male colleague, he gets upset."

"Before, I was quite happy, thinking it showed Edric cared about me. But now, I've really had enough. Is it that only he can be seen with other women, and I can't have male friends? Edric is trying to drive me crazy."

The more Jenny thought about it, the angrier she got, and her eyes turned red.

Nora quickly hugged her, patting her back and soothing her gently.

"Alright, don't cry. It's okay."

After venting, Jenny calmed down a bit.

She took a deep breath and wiped away her tears.

"I gave him an ultimatum. If he doesn't retract the company's termination letter to Ulysses, I'll do the same thing."

Nora was stunned. "What do you mean by that?"

Jenny pulled out the photo of Edric and Ursula entering the hotel.

"Nora, call Alex and have him hack into Ursula's father's company. Post this photo on their official website and label it with 'Ursula aiming to be a mistress.'"

"Ursula's father's company is publicly traded, and her father is a well-known figure in Sherlock Harbor. If they don't care about their reputation, then I'll make sure everyone loses face!"

Nora looked at the photo on Jenny's phone, her brows furrowing slightly.

"Jenny, think this through. If you post this photo, it won't just damage the Ford family's reputation; it will also harm the Bishop family. Edric's parents might dislike you even more."

Jenny said, "Let them dislike me. No matter how well I behave, they won't like me anyway. I don't need to bend over backward for them."

Jenny wasn't usually this fierce, but being pushed to the brink, she was ready to fight back.

Jenny was truly at her wit's end.

Nora understood this and cautiously asked, "Jenny, have you prepared for the worst?"

Jenny was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Nora, I'm exhausted. If Edric blames me too, then we'll get a divorce."

Nora's brows furrowed.

Jenny was already considering divorce.

This wasn't the outcome Nora wanted to see.

"Jenny, maybe you should think it over. Becky and I have set things up, and Betsy has already started taking action. As long as Fiona doesn't meddle in your marriage, your relationship with Edric will be fine," Nora suggested.

Jenny shook her head. "No, Nora, I can't wait any longer. Besides, Ursula has been eyeing Edric. Should I just keep swallowing my anger?"

Seeing Jenny's angry face, Nora didn't try to persuade her further.

Because Nora knew that everyone had a breaking point.

If she didn't let Jenny vent now, she feared Jenny might develop depression.

Although exposing the photo might hurt Jenny too, her mental health was more important than any potential damage.

It was better to let Jenny vent and then deal with the fallout!

"Alright, I'll call Alex."

Nora squeezed Jenny's hand and reassured her, "Don't worry, I've got your back. If Edric dares to blame you, then you two can get a divorce. I'll take care of you."

Jenny, who had been furious, felt her anger turn into a sense of grievance at Nora's words.

She hugged Nora, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Nora, I'm so glad you're here."

Nora couldn't stand to see Jenny cry.

Unwilling to let the mood remain so somber, she chided Jenny, "You still see me as your best friend? Why didn't you tell me about all this sooner?"
