Chapter 1079 Progressing Quite Fast

Right then, Samantha was like, "Why the heck is Alfred here too?" She thought, 'Is he stalking me? But I didn't think I'd see Lykke here. Are they on a date or what?'

Samantha's eyes went wide as she watched Alfred and Lykke stroll into the Gourmet Restaurant together, totally speechless.

Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Did Alfred snag a girlfriend?"

He was kinda surprised. I mean, they were both dudes and knew each other well. He knew Alfred had a thing for Samantha, but now, Alfred was out with Lykke.

"Not a girlfriend, just a fling," Samantha muttered, wanting to call him a jerk, but remembering what Millie had said about guys picking a good woman before marriage, she bit her tongue. Still, she was pretty ticked off.

"A fling, huh? How do you know?" Ryan looked curious.

"I'll spill the tea in the private room," Samantha said, walking inside, clearly annoyed.

'Why's Samantha so pissed? Who got under her skin?' Ryan raised an eyebrow and followed her with big strides.

Behind them, Wesley frowned, noticing Samantha didn't wait for him.

Elijah, catching this, said on purpose, "Wesley, don't you think Samantha seemed bummed seeing Alfred with another chick?"

'Yeah, why's she so upset? Is she mad about Alfred dating Lykke?' Wesley pressed his lips together and followed with a grim look.

Samantha saw Alfred and Lykke sitting by the window and made a beeline for them. As she got closer, she saw Alfred grinning and chatting with Lykke.

Samantha stopped by their table and forced a fake smile. "Alfred, you and Lykke are moving pretty fast. If I didn't know you just met, I'd think she was the girl you told me you liked," she said, then walked away.

After a moment of surprise, Alfred smiled smugly. Samantha was trying to badmouth him to Lykke, showing she thought he already had someone he liked.

Alfred felt a bit cocky. 'If Samantha didn't care about me, why would she come over and make such comments?'

"Alfred, do you have a girl you like?" Lykke asked from across the table.

Alfred snapped back to reality. "If you wanna bail now, I don't mind." His goal was achieved, so it didn't matter if Lykke left.

"So, how far have you gotten with this girl you like?" Lykke asked.

Alfred took a sip of tea and said, "Nowhere, I'm secretly crushing on her."

Lykke looked into his deep blue eyes and asked, "The girl you like, is it Samantha?"

Alfred paused mid-sip. "Is it that obvious?"

Lykke smiled. "You can't hide love. She walked away, but your eyes never left her."

Lykke was pretty sharp.

Alfred smiled. "So, this meal..."

Lykke shrugged. "Alfred, just 'cause you like Samantha doesn't mean you two will end up together. I didn't expect to start a relationship with you after one meal. We can start as friends, and maybe if the girl you like doesn't like you back, I can be with you."

Lykke was straightforward and seemed to have a good vibe.

Alfred chuckled. "Alright, let's order. This meal's on me."

Lykke grinned. "Since you're using me, I'm not holding back."

They shared a laugh, and Alfred motioned for Lykke to go ahead and order.

In the private room, Ryan turned to Samantha. "What did you just say to Alfred?"

Samantha had walked off quickly after talking to Alfred, so he missed it.

"Nothing much, just reminded him not to be a jerk," Samantha said, plopping down with a shrug.

Ryan raised an eyebrow. If Alfred didn't act like a jerk, he'd probably keep bugging her. His eyes landed on Wesley, who had followed them in. "Samantha, aren't you gonna introduce us?"

"Oh, right," Samantha said, "This is Wesley Knight, my boyfriend. Wesley, this is my cousin Ryan Woodhouse."

Wesley felt a bit of relief hearing Samantha call him her boyfriend. "Ryan, nice to meet you."

Ryan squinted. "Hold up, Samantha, when did you start dating? Do you even know him well? What do you like about him?"

No wonder Samantha had publicly challenged the music veteran Robert for Wesley a few days ago. Samantha and Wesley were dating.

Ryan had a lot of friends, and after knowing about Samantha, many had asked him to set them up. He had blocked many guys for her, but he didn't guard against outsiders.

"Oh, we just started dating. Why all the questions?" Samantha replied, a bit playfully, seeing Ryan's persistent questioning.

"I'm your cousin, how can I not be concerned about your future?" Ryan said, "You know, my childhood dream was to marry you. Unfortunately, you're my cousin, and close relatives can't marry. It's a lifelong regret for me."

Ryan spoke with such regret that Samantha couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, can you stop saying that to everyone you meet? You've been saying it since we were kids."

"No way, this regret will stay with me forever."

Seeing their close interaction, Wesley clenched his fingers, feeling even more uncomfortable. If Ryan was a distant relative, Wesley had reason to suspect that he was taking advantage of Samantha with all the hugging.

Wesley asked, "Samantha, is Ryan a close relative?"

"Yeah," Samantha said, "Ryan is very close to my mom's side of the family."

"Wesley, why are you asking that?" Samantha asked curiously.

"Nothing, just asking." Wesley certainly wouldn't reveal his thoughts.

Samantha didn't press further and said to Ryan, "Ryan, I'm only telling you that Wesley is my boyfriend. You can't tell our parents, or I'll cut ties with you."

Ryan hissed, "That serious? Why can't you tell anyone?"

Samantha said, "I don't want them asking a million questions like you. It would drive me nuts."

Ryan raised an eyebrow and glanced at Wesley. "They ask questions because they don't want you to be deceived by a guy."

Wesley caught the implication and replied, "Ryan, rest assured, I truly like Samantha and would never deceive her."
