Chapter 435 He Really Spoils Her
Upon hearing Emma's words, Ebenezer furrowed his brow and fell silent.
"Emma, what are you talking about? Are we constantly arguing every day because of having different dreams?" Ebenezer asked.
"Isn't it?" Emma's eyes looked resentful. "You've always been thinking about your first love in your heart. You've always treated me as a substitute for your first love. Isn't that having different dreams?"
Ebenezer choked up angrily, saying, "Nonsense! It's because you've become increasingly unreasonable that I can't bear it and argue with you!"
Emma sneered, "Is it unreasonable for me to expect you to continue pretending to be a saint in front of our children? If it weren't for your excessive behavior, would my expectation still be considered unreasonable?"
Upon hearing this, Ebenezer was annoyed and said, "You again! What did I do wrong? Are you going to bring up Nora again?"
"Isn't that the case?" Emma said, "Our family hasn't been peaceful since Nora appeared."
Ebenezer felt exhausted and replied, "I don't want to argue with you. Howard, I will handle your marriage situation right away..."
"Dad, let's not talk about it for now." Howard understood his father's meaning and interrupted him.
Howard added, "Mommy is right; Evella doesn't like me. If we force ourselves to be together, we will become a resentful couple in the future, constantly fighting and creating an uneasy home atmosphere."
Ebenezer frowned but remained silent.
After a while, he sighed and said, "All right, do as you wish. I made an appointment with someone, so I'll leave first."
Since his children had grown up and had their opinions, he didn't want to overthink it.
He wanted to avoid conflicting with another person again.
He was just too tired.
Seeing her son agree with her, Emma felt relieved.
"Howard, listen to your Mommy and meet Miss Romero first..." Emma started again.
Howard replied, "Mommy, I will handle my marriage; please don't interfere anymore. I have something to do, so I'm leaving."
Howard's mood was not good at the moment.
He felt miserable thinking about Evella, saying she didn't like him.
Watching his father and brother leave one after the other, Kenneth glanced at his mother sitting on the couch and shook his head gently.
He didn't express any opinion and held Sandy's arm, walking towards the dining room.
Kenneth said, "Let's go, have breakfast."
Sandy had seen a lot of drama early in the morning and was still in shock.
She never expected her mother-in-law to go to such lengths for Suzy.
She wonders if Nora knows about this.
She'll share this with Nora later.
I'll visit the lab later. Sandy whispered to Kenneth.
Kenneth furrowed his brows unconsciously when he helped her pull out a chair.
He subconsciously wanted to object, but Sandy continued, "Don't worry, I won't conduct any experiments. I feel suffocated staying at home and want to go out for a walk. Nora happens to be helping at the lab, and I want to see her and chat with her."
Kenneth sat across from her, touched by her clear eyes, and suppressed the words on the tip of his tongue.
Kenneth reluctantly agreed, "Okay."
The doctor said that pregnant women are prone to depression, so he had to give in a little and make her happy.
If she wanted to go out for a walk, he would go along with it.
Sandy replied, "Thank you."
Sandy was happy to see Kenneth agree.
Kenneth did not speak; he just scooped a bowl of soup for her.
"Drink it," he said.
The smile on Sandy's face instantly faded.
She had to drink this soup again.
She was getting sick of drinking it every day!
"Kenneth, can I not drink it?" Sandy looked at him with pitiful eyes.
Kenneth scooped a bowl of soup for himself and calmly said, "Don't you want to go out for a walk?"
Sandy's eyes flickered, and she took the opportunity to make a condition, "Then promise me that I can go out for a walk frequently in the future."
Kenneth glanced at her and made a sound of agreement.
Sandy was happy and quickly drank up the soup with a frown.
Kenneth gently smiled and drank the soup with her.
"Pregnant women should rest at home. Where else do you want to go later?" Emma, supported by Suzy, entered the dining room and overheard, showing displeasure.
Sandy felt guilty and looked at Kenneth.
Kenneth finished the soup, elegantly wiped his mouth with a tissue, and said, "I'll take her to the company."
He's lying!
He must be afraid of telling her that she's going to the lab and attracting unnecessary nagging from his mother-in-law.
Sandy quickly lowered her eyes, afraid of giving herself away.
"Why are you taking her to the company? Won't it distract you from your work?" Emma asked.
"It won't." Kenneth handed Sandy a sandwich.
Emma glanced at him and dissatisfiedly said, "You spoil her."
Sandy took the sandwich, and her lips unconsciously curved into a smile.
It seemed that her husband really spoiled her!
Nora went to the lab, and after a while, she noticed that Sandy had also come.
She looked surprised, and asked, "Sandy, didn't my brother tell you not to come?"
Sandy smiled, and answered, "I said I wanted to see you, so he let me come."
Nora raised an eyebrow and teased, "My brother really spoils you."
Sandy chuckled, and replied, "Isn't it because of you?"
Nora looked surprised, feigning innocence, and both of them laughed.
"Nora, do you know something?" Sandy pulled Nora into the break room, eager to gossip with her.
"What is it?" Nora asked.
"My mother-in-law almost married Suzy to the eldest son of the Remington Family," Sandy said.
Nora pondered and answered, "I know."
Sandy was taken aback, and asked, "You know?"
Nora replied, "Yeah, now the eldest son of the Remington Family is going to be engaged to Harper, right?"
Sandy widened her eyes, "Nora, how do you know all this? Did Evella tell you?"
Nora smirked and leaned closer to Sandy's ear, saying, "Sandy, let me tell you..."
She proceeded to explain what happened with Aaron drugging Archer.
Sandy suddenly understood and gave her a thumbs up. "Impressive, you guys really came up with that!" she praised.
Nora cleared her throat, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Just to clarify, it wasn't my idea; it was Aaron's," she replied.
Sandy laughed, and remarked, "Mr. Gordon is quite cunning."
"I think so, too." Nora agreed wholeheartedly and added, "But I don't think it's a bad thing."
Sandy teased her, "Nora, I didn't say Mr. Gordon is bad, and now you're defending him?"
Nora touched her nose and laughed sheepishly.
Sandy stopped teasing her and said, "You know, we had another argument at home this morning."
She proceeded to explain what happened earlier that morning.
Nora felt a bit helpless upon hearing that Ebenezer and Emma had another fight because of her. She didn't want to be the cause of any conflict between her father and Emma. She didn't want to be anyone's target.
That's why she initially wanted to avoid acknowledging her roots.
But now, it's meaningless to talk about these things.
She can only let nature take its course.
"It seems like Howard doesn't mind marrying Evella, but unfortunately, Evella doesn't like Howard," Sandy mentioned Howard and Evella again.
Nora smiled and said, "Let me tell you another secret."
