Chapter 688 Better Looking Than Me
"That guy's wife ran away, and instead of looking at his own issues, he went to the hospital to cause problems?"
Emma looked exasperated. "Clearly, his domestic violence made his wife run away. How did he have the nerve to blame the doctor?"
Nora took the utensils handed to her by the servant and said, "Some people never self-reflect when they make mistakes."
"That's true." Sandy nodded in agreement.
"In a way, this incident has given Radiant Beauty Clinic some free publicity," Kenneth said as he served Sandy a bowl of soup.
Nora blinked. "Exactly. Although Aria Diaz ran away, the fact that she became more beautiful is undeniable. The public will definitely think about that."
"Aria ran away partly because of his huband's violence and partly because she really did become more beautiful. She gained more confidence. This indirectly proves how good our clinic's cosmetic surgery is." Kenneth nodded, pleased with the advertising effect.
Nora paused. "But everything has two sides. Won't this make many husbands see Radiant Beauty Clinic as the enemy?"
After all, they wouldn't be happy to see their wives become more beautiful and then start to despise them.
Kenneth raised an eyebrow. "We can have the marketing department do some promotion at the right time. Women are mostly visual creatures. If men want a more harmonious and fulfilling married life, they should take action too and come to the clinic for some facial adjustments."
Hearing this, Nora laughed and couldn't help but give a thumbs up. "You really are a business mogul with a sharp mind!"
"Thanks for the compliment." Kenneth accepted Nora's praise without hesitation.
"Fortunately, no one get hurt. Now, let's enjoy the meal," Emma said to the group.
"Okay."
Everyone started eating.
As Nora ate, she told Kenneth about what Richard had found out and Aaron's countermeasures.
Kenneth listened carefully and raised an eyebrow. "Nora, your fiancé is the real business mogul, smart and capable."
"Thanks for the compliment," Nora said proudly, feeling honored.
Kenneth chuckled. "Did I compliment you?"
Nora's eyes sparkled. "I thanked you on Aaron's behalf."
Kenneth teased. "You are indeed an item, aren't you?"
Nora smiled, her eyes sparkling. "Because the paternity test results are out. Aaron is the biological father of Alex, Billy, and Samantha."
There was a moment of silence at the table.
Then Emma said, "We don't even need a paternity test. Didn't we already know this?"
"But it's still reassuring to have it done," Nora said.
"Nora, congratulations!" Sandy said with a smile.
"Thank you." Nora felt overwhelmed by happiness.
Kenneth said, "Should we have a drink to celebrate?"
Nora blinked. "Let's wait until we bring Jackson Gordon to justice, then we'll celebrate properly!"
"Sounds good."
As they chatted, Nora's phone rang.
It was Howard calling.
Nora answered, "Howard."
"Nora, are you free right now?" Howard asked.
"Yes, what's up?"
"The patient with heart cancer, Matt Evans, suddenly took a turn for the worse. He needs immediate surgery. If you're available, come to the hospital and assist me."
Hearing this, Nora's expression turned serious.
"Okay, I'll be right there."
She put down her fork and looked at the others.
"Mom, Kenneth, Sandy, I need to go to the hospital."
Emma asked, "Is it your brother calling you?"
"Yes, he needs me to assist him in surgery," Nora said as she stood up.
Emma frowned. "He really is annoying. You haven't even finished your meal."
"I've had enough. I'll have a nice big dinner when I get back tonight," Nora said with a reassuring smile.
"Alright, be safe on the road."
"Got it."
Nora left the villa and looked around but didn't see Frederick.
Strange.
Remembering that Aaron had asked Frederick to call him, she figured Frederick must have gone to keep an eye on Curtis and was waiting for the right moment to act.
Nora didn't call Frederick. Instead, she went to the garage, got into another car, and headed to Lindwood City Hospital.
At the hospital, Howard's assistant was already waiting for Nora.
Seeing her arrive, the assistant quickly led her to the operating room.
"Howard, I'm here."
"Good. Change into your surgical gown."
Howard was already dressed in his surgical attire.
"Okay."
Nora responded and asked, "What's Matt Evans' condition now?"
"Sudden heart attack. He's barely hanging on. We need to operate immediately."
As Nora changed into her surgical gown, she listened to Howard explain Matt's condition while disinfecting her hands. Then, the two of them entered the operating room.
The surgery took six hours.
When Nora and Howard finally emerged from the operating room, they were both exhausted but had a hint of excitement in their eyes.
The exhaustion was from the long hours of surgery.
The excitement was from successfully saving Matt, who was on the brink of death.
This is the best reward for a doctor!
After updating Matt's family on his condition, they changed out of their surgical gowns and went to wash and disinfect their hands.
"Howard, this should be our second time working together," Nora said with a smile.
Howard nodded. "Yes, I remember the first time we worked together was in Houston. I doubted your medical skills back then, but you gave me a beautiful rebuttal, showing me that there's always someone better."
Nora tilted her head and looked at him. "Do you regret treating me so lightly back then?"
Howard smiled wryly. "Of course, I regret it. I regret it every day!"
Nora burst into laughter.
Looking in the mirror, she tidied her hair.
"By the way, I met Zack's godson today. His name is Joseph Martinez, and he's quite handsome!"
Hearing this, Howard squinted, a hint of wariness flashing in his eyes.
"When did you meet him?"
"Around noon. Richard asked me out to discuss Aaron's car accident, and Joseph Martinez was with him."
Hearing this, Howard asked, "Are there any leads on Aaron's car accident?"
"Yes, Jackson Gordon should be revealing his true colors soon," Nora said.
Howard nodded, but his mind was on Joseph.
"Nora, this Joseph Martinez you mentioned, is he better looking than me?"
Nora looked him up and down, touching her delicate chin, and said, "You both have different kinds of good looks."
Howard didn't like the sound of that.
"You mean, he looks as handsome as me."
Joseph was the son-in-law of the late Zack. He couldn't look as good as Howard, and he had to be a notch below!
"He does look quite good!"
Nora said, "If you two stood together, you'd both look refined and handsome. But the difference is, you looks more aloof, while Joseph Martinez seems more approachable."
