Chapter 143 Edric's Bid for Favor

After hanging up on him, Jenny turned to find Nora placing some clothes on the bed. "What's up?" Nora inquired.

"Edric offered to give me a lift to work," Jenny laughed.
"Edric's coming to pick you up for work?"

The thought flashed in Nora's eyes, "Is he trying to seize an opportunity?"

Jenny laughed it off. "Nora, remember? Stay away from men."

Nora fell silent.

She meant, "Stay away from the bad ones."

But from what she heard, Edric wasn't much better.

Nora chuckled without saying anything, and they headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

Downstairs, Edric arrived.

He held a large bouquet of red roses and took out a big box from the trunk, carrying it inside.

The kids recognized him and politely called him Mr. Hawk.

With a smile playing in his handsome eyes, Edric said, "Kids, I've got gifts for you in the box. Help yourselves."
Three kids blinked wide-eyed, offering thanks before barraging him with questions.

Alex piped up, "Mr. Hawk, are these flowers for my mom?"

Billy chimed in, "Mr. Hawk, are you trying to woo my mom?"

Samantha added with a frown, "Mr. Hawk, you're nice-looking and all, but we already have a dad!"

Edric couldn't help but burst into laughter at the innocent comments of the children.

"Kids, you've got it all wrong. I'm not trying to replace your dad; I want to be your godfather!"

The three shared a glance, suddenly making sense of it all.

Alex asked with curiosity, "So, Mr. Hawk, you want to date our godmother?"

"Yeah, I like your godmother and love to be your godfather. Are you guys cool with that?"

Edric crouched to their eye level, his voice enticing, "If you agree, you'll have a wealthy godfather who can give you any gift you wish. What do you say?"

The promise of gifts impacted their eyes, which sparkled at the alluring offer.

Before they could respond, Jenny's voice echoed from the staircase.

"Edric, what nonsense are you spouting in front of the kids?"

Hearing her, Edric straightened up, his gaze landing on Jenny with a raised eyebrow and a wry smile. "It's not nonsense. I'm speaking the absolute truth."

Jenny approached him, her frustration clear. "Edric, I told you last time to keep your distance from me."

Unperturbed, Edric replied smoothly, "Come on, women often say the opposite of what they mean, right? When you tell me to stay away, you're asking me to get closer."

Jenny took a deep breath, finding his handsome face annoyingly punchable.

So, he thought she was being contradictory?

"Fine, then come closer," she retorted, hoping to reverse psychology him away.

A subtle grin flickered across Edric's eyes.

He glared at the three kids at his feet and said, "Did you hear that, kids? Your godmother is the one asking me to get close."

The two brothers couldn't contain their laughter, and even Samantha covered her mouth to hide her giggles.

Reddened with embarrassment and annoyance, Jenny protested, "Edric, are you always this annoying?"

She wanted nothing more than to throw this man out!

Edric just chuckled, offering her the bouquet.

"Here, take these. In front of the kids, as their godmother, you should set a good example and be a bit softer to men."

Jenny was speechless, glaring at him.

Without another word, Edric pushed the bouquet into her hands.

Nora, standing aside, observed the two with a pondering look in her eyes.

Could it be that Edric truly intended to pursue Jenny?
"Edric, have you had breakfast yet? If not, why don't you join me?"

Edric gave her a charming smile, "No thanks, Nora; I've got something I want to discuss with Jenny alone."

Jenny said flatly, "I don't feel like talking to you."

With a playful arch of his brow, Edric wrapped his arm around Jenny and planted a swift kiss on her lips.

The action was so unexpected that nobody had a chance to react.

They all just stood there, stunned.

After a quick kiss, Edric returned to look at the dazed Jenny, a teasing glimmer in his eye. "Jenny, if you don't play along, I might just have to keep kissing you!"

A beat too slow in processing what had happened, Jenny stared at him with flushed cheeks and wide eyes.

Edric didn't even give her a chance to speak, holding her close as he turned to Nora.

"Nora, you didn't invite me for dinner after moving yesterday. I'm a little hurt! But don't worry, I still have a housewarming gift for you. It's in the box. I'll take Jenny off your hands for now. Just make sure you owe me a meal later."

Nora remained silent.

She wasn't close with him and had certainly not considered inviting him.

And yet, here he was, acting as if he were family.

"Nora!"

Jenny was blinking vigorously at Nora, silently pleading for help.

With a light laugh, Nora replied, "Alright, Edric, off you go. I promise I'll take you out to dinner another time."

She suddenly felt it wasn't a bad idea to let Edric stay with Jenny for now.

Having someone beside you when you're feeling down can ease the pain.

As for the rest, that could wait a few days.

"Nora, you're just going to let me go?" Jenny protested.

With his arm firmly around her waist, Edric chuckled. "Don't worry, I've got you."

"Edric, let me go. I've got nothing to talk about with you."

"Don't want to talk? So, what do you want to do? Something interesting? How about another kiss? I'm happy to oblige!"

"Edric!"

Watching the two leave the villa, Nora couldn't help but suppress a chuckle.

Her eyes landed on the large box nearby, and she squatted down to inspect it.

Was this the housewarming gift from Edric?

What could it be?

Curious, Nora opened the box to look inside.

"It's LEGO!"

"And a racecar set!"

"And look, dolls!"

The three kids with her exclaimed with joy at the sight of the presents.

Edric had a surprisingly thoughtful side.

Nora's lips curved into a soft smile as she reached for a crystal figurine at the bottom of the box.

It was a delicate piece radiating elegance and worth; it was an expensive item.

Was Edric buttering her up to ease his pursuit of Jenny?

As Nora mused over this, she carefully put away the crystal piece and then went to have her breakfast.
After breakfast, she turned to her three kids, who were engrossed with the new toys Edric had brought them. "Sweethearts, I need you to stay put today. Mom's going to pick up Grandma to come stay with us."

She was setting out to the retirement home to bring her grandmother back to live in her house.

"Okay," chorused the three children in unison.

"Mom, is Grandma going to live with us from now on?" Samantha asked softly.

"Yes," Nora replied with a smile, grabbing her essentials as she prepared to leave.

The brothers exchanged a glance. "Mom, can you join us for a movie tonight?" Alex asked.

Nora paused, surprise flickering in her eyes. "You guys want to go out for a movie?"
