Chapter 960 Which Woman did you Fall For
Gabriella's heart raced. "What agent? Rafael, you came to me. I had no choice but to cooperate."
Rafael scoffed, "Really? But it's you who wanted revenge for your sister and kept seducing Aaron!"
"Even if I did come to you first, you didn't say no. I have all our calls and texts. How do you explain that?"
Gabriella clutched her phone, panic setting in.
Rafael continued, "Gabriella, you'd better behave, or I can make you disappear!"
"But if you cooperate, we'll stick to our deal. Once it's done, you'll be Miguel's wife and live in luxury."
With that, Rafael hung up.
Gabriella listened to the dial tone, feeling uneasy.
Why did she team up with Rafael? Why make a deal with the devil?
She didn't care about being Miguel's wife. Could she back out now?
But Rafael was right; she wanted revenge and seduced Aaron.
If Aaron and Nora found out her true identity, they'd see her as a corporate spy.
At the breakfast stand, Johnnie overheard Gabriella and Rafael's conversation, shocked.
He thought, 'Rafael? From Hchilia? Gabriella's working with him? Who's her sister?'
"Sir, are you buying breakfast or not?" someone in line behind Johnnie urged.
Snapping back to reality, Johnnie bought his breakfast and returned to the hotel.
In the elevator, he saw his reflection and struggled internally.
Taking a deep breath, he arrived at the luxury suite on the top floor.
He rang the doorbell, and Nora opened it, surprised to see him.
"Johnnie, good morning. What's up?"
"Is Mr. Gordon here?"
"He is. Come in."
Johnnie nodded and walked in.
Aaron had just finished washing his hands and came out of the bathroom.
Seeing Johnnie, he raised an eyebrow. "What's so urgent this early?"
Johnnie took a deep breath and lowered his head.
"Mr. Gordon, I'm sorry. I haven't been a good assistant."
Aaron's eyes flickered, guessing something.
He sat on the sofa. "What's so serious?"
Johnnie said, "I couldn't resist a woman's temptation and almost got used."
Aaron took the cup of water Nora handed him, pretending not to know.
"A woman's temptation? Which woman?"
"Gabriella."
Johnnie glanced at Aaron and placed his phone on the coffee table.
"Mr. Gordon, you and Mrs. Gordon must have suspected something about Gabriella. I recorded something. Gabriella is in contact with Rafael."
Johnnie played the recording of Gabriella and Rafael's conversation.
After listening, Aaron and Nora exchanged a glance. They hadn't expected Gabriella to be in contact with Rafael.
"Gabriella approached me with a purpose. She's avenging her sister, but I don't know who her sister is," Johnnie said.
Aaron didn't hide it anymore. "Her sister is Suzy."
So it was Suzy? How did he not think of that? Gabriella and Suzy did look quite similar.
Johnnie pressed his lips together, saying nothing.
"Johnnie, how do you know we have suspected Gabriella from the start?" Aaron asked.
Johnnie answered honestly, "At last night's banquet, you and Mrs. Gordon had an argument. When I went out to find you, I overheard your conversation."
So that was how it was.
Aaron said, "Sorry for not telling you earlier. We weren't sure why Gabriella was approaching us."
"What if it was just a misunderstanding? We didn't want to wrong an innocent person. Besides, you two were dating at the time. Without proof, I didn't want to accuse her and jeopardize your relationship."
Johnnie lowered his head, feeling a bit dejected.
"Mr. Gordon, you don't need to explain. I understand. The fact is, I was too foolish. She is indeed a shady character"
Aaron stood up, walked over, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Don't say that. You're not foolish; she's just very good at pretending. Even Nora and I were played by her. It's not your fault."
Johnnie knew Aaron was comforting him and remained silent.
Aaron picked up his phone, intrigued.
"This recording must be recent. She didn't notice?"
Johnnie said, "Last night, while she was asleep, I installed a bug on her phone. She doesn't know."
Aaron nodded, praising him, "You did a good job."
Johnnie lowered his head even more. "Mr. Gordon, please don't praise me. I feel ashamed."
Aaron sighed, "I thought you had found your destined one, but it turns out she was just passing through."
Johnnie said nothing, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Nora, seeing his downcast look, tentatively asked, "Johnnie, do you like Gabriella?"
Johnnie pressed his lips together, saying nothing.
Nora understood immediately. It seemed he did like Gabriella. What a complicated situation. Johnnie was smitten with Gabriella, completely oblivious to her manipulative ways.
"It seems you've chosen your career over love. Johnnie, that must be hard for you," Aaron said.
Johnnie took a deep breath. "Mr. Gordon, you are my belief, my idol. I would never betray you for anyone or anything."
His firm expression moved Aaron.
Aaron playfully punched him on the shoulder. "Good friend."
Johnnie felt a bit embarrassed, but his expression relaxed a bit.
"Mr. Gordon, what should I do now?"
Aaron pondered, his eyes deep and unreadable.
After a while, he said, "Since Rafael wants to steal the confidential files, let's play along."
Johnnie straightened up. "What should we do?"
Aaron looked at him. "Johnnie, you'll have to endure a bit longer. Until Mateo finishes his trip in Chrisland, you can't reveal yourself. You need to continue pretending with Gabriella."
Johnnie was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Yes."
Nora, who had been mostly silent, frowned slightly.
"Aaron, aren't you asking too much of Johnnie?"
Johnnie had to face a woman he liked, knowing she was deceiving him, and still pretend with her. How painful must that be?
"Mrs. Gordon, I don't feel it's too much."
Before Aaron could speak, Johnnie interjected.
"I do have feelings for Gabriella, but not enough to lose my mind. I know right from wrong."
