Chapter 748 Ordinary but Confident

Nora raised her eyebrows slightly. To be honest, Aaron was just trouble!

Rich was one thing, but he also had to be so handsome.

"You sure know how to make excuses," Nora said.

Sunny pursed her lips. "Of course!"

Nora glanced at her. "Alright, I'll talk to him, and then I'll find someone proper to be your assistant."

"Okay," Sunny replied.

Nora added, "Then I wish you all the best; complete the task and regain a new life soon."

"I will," Sunny said.

Nora looked at the sparkle in Sunny's eyes, said no more, and left the ward.

Once a person had faith, they would have the motivation to strive and step towards success.

Nora believed that Sunny would handle the task given by the police well.

Outside the ward, Jane was on the phone with someone.

After she finished the call, Nora said, "Alright, we can go now."

Jane nodded, and the two left the hospital.

"Dr. Smith, you go first; I'll take a taxi back to the office," Jane said.

Nora glanced at the time. "It's already lunchtime; why don't we find a place nearby to eat? We can chat more about Sunny's situation."

Jane thought for a moment. Last time, she politely declined Nora's offer to have a meal. Now, declining again wouldn't be appropriate.

"Alright."

The two got into the car, and Nora asked Frederick to find a restaurant nearby for them to eat.

There happened to be a newly opened private restaurant nearby, so the two got out of the car and headed inside.

The new restaurant had a great ambiance, decorated with a unique style.

Soft music floated in the air above the restaurant.

Since Nora hadn't made a reservation, they couldn't sit in a private room, so the waiter led them to a table by the window.

As they sat down, Jane said, "Dr. Smith, I'll go to the restroom."

"Okay," Nora replied and took the menu to order some food.

Jane went to the restroom and entered a stall.

Faintly, she heard someone in the adjacent stall talking on the phone.

"I'm not coming. I'm on a blind date. I don't know what my mom was thinking; she actually set me up on a blind date with the Wright family's illegitimate child, who was only acknowledged by the Wright family less than a year ago. If I end up marrying an illegitimate child, I'll be the laughingstock!"

Jane was in the restroom, listening intently to the gossip.

"If I don't go, my mom will never let it go. So, I'll just have to play along. That illegitimate kid is quite a looker, though. There's no shortage of good-looking men out there, good for a fling but not exactly husband material. Given his illegitimate status, I don't want to deal with the future gossip."

The stall door opened, and the woman's high heels approached and then moved away.
Jane raised an eyebrow, thinking that the woman was quite materialistic.

When looking for a partner, one should consider whether they got along with each other.

In her opinion, marriage seemed more like a transaction to her.

A transaction that could be flaunted.

Jane finished in the restroom, left the stall, and went to the sink to wash her hands.

There was a woman standing in front of the sink at that moment.

She was less than five feet four inches tall, slightly plump, holding an eyebrow pencil and drawing her eyebrows in front of the mirror.

Jane glanced at her, noticing the delicate makeup on her face which failed to hide the freckles.

Her eyes then moved to the woman's chest. She was wearing a fitted dress with a low neckline, partially revealing her chest.

Jane raised an eyebrow and turned on the tap to wash her hands.

If this woman were placed in the past, she would have been considered quite beautiful.

After all, there was a time when being plump was considered beautiful.

The woman seemed to have a sore throat, coughed lightly a few times, then put away the eyebrow pencil and left, swaying her hips.

Jane watched her plump figure leave and realized that she was the same woman she overheard complaining on the phone in the restroom.

When she heard the woman's arrogant tone without seeing her, she thought she must be exceptionally beautiful.

But in reality, she wasn't that impressive.

She even looked down on the illegitimate status of others.

An ordinary but arrogant woman.

This inevitably reminded her of the blind date a few days ago.

She had encountered a man just like that.
Nowadays, there seemed to be many arrogant idiots!

Jane finished washing her hands, dried them with a tissue, and walked out.

"Jane, I've ordered; take a look."

Nora handed her the menu.

Jane smiled. "I'm not picky; your choices are fine."

Nora smiled back, turned to the waiter, and said, "Bring the dishes."

"Sure."

The waiter left.

Nora poured Jane a cup of coffee. Jane thanked her, picked up the cup, and took a sip.

Casually glancing around, she saw the arrogant woman she had encountered in the restroom sitting not far from them at a table diagonally across.

Jane raised an eyebrow, curious about who the woman was on a blind date with.

Just then, she caught sight of a man approaching.

The man was tall and dressed in a smart casual suit.

His gentle face carried a hint of melancholy.

It was Zephyr.

What a coincidence!

Jane wondered whether to greet him, but then she saw Zephyr sit down in front of the woman she had overheard in the restroom.

Jane was surprised at first, then amused.

So Zephyr was the illegitimate child that the woman despised.

"Jane, what are you looking at?"

Nora took a sip of coffee, saw Jane smiling, and turned curiously to follow her gaze.

"I saw Dr. Wright; he's on a blind date," Jane said.

Nora also saw Zephyr's back and was somewhat surprised.

She didn't expect Zephyr to be on a blind date.

It seemed he had moved on from Sandy.

Nora turned to Jane, recalling their encounter at the Whispering Willow Restaurant last time when Jane mentioned going on a blind date.

So she asked, "How did the blind date go last time?"

Bringing up the previous blind date, Jane chuckled. "It didn't work out; the guy couldn't handle my tomboyish nature."

Hearing this, Nora chuckled lightly. "That just means that guy has no taste; he doesn't know how charming you can be when you dress up!"

Jane understood what Nora meant. When Nora mentioned how charming she could be, she was referring to how she looked last night with a wig and a dress.

Thinking back to last night, her gaze fell on Zephyr's back.

Indeed, she had recently encountered Zephyr quite often.

Everywhere she went, she seemed to run into him.

During her missions and even during his blind dates.

And last night, he had helped her out again.

Jane looked at the arrogant woman sitting not far away, recalling the conversation she overheard in the restroom, her eyes flickering.

It was obvious that this arrogant woman looked down on Zephyr.

In Jane's eyes, Zephyr and the arrogant woman were indeed not a good match.

It wasn't that Zephyr wasn't good enough for the arrogant woman, but rather that the arrogant woman wasn't good enough for Zephyr!

Zephyr had helped her before, and now it was time for her to repay the favor.

At that moment, the dishes Nora ordered started to arrive.

"Dr. Smith, you go ahead and eat, don't mind me," Jane stood up and said.

"Aren't you hungry?" Nora said.

"Just a moment," Jane replied

Jane didn't say more and walked towards the table where Zephyr was seated.

Nora watched in surprise as Jane walked up behind Zephyr and blinked.
