Chapter 779 Just Afraid He Wasn't in Charge
Betsy's eyes flashed, thinking she was being threatened by Nora.
'But if I told Caden the truth, I would be even more afraid! Afraid of losing my life at any minute!'
Thinking this, Betsy smiled slightly. "How could that be? You're overthinking it; I'm really fine."
Caden stared at her eyes carefully, seeing her smile peacefully, without a hint of grievance, so he didn't ask further. "Alright, as long as you're fine."
Betsy now just wanted to keep her distance from Caden, so she tactfully asked Caden to leave. "Mr. Gordon, it's getting late. There will be a performance at the theater tomorrow. I need to go back to remove my makeup. I'm afraid you have to leave now."
"Okay." Caden nodded, and before leaving, he reminded, "Betsy, if Jeffery ever unreasonably troubles you, just let me know, and I'll take charge for you."
Betsy lowered her eyes slightly, her gaze flickering.
Caden was taking charge of her.
Just afraid it wouldn't be Caden's turn to take charge at home!
"Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Gordon. Mrs. Gordon is a reasonable person; as long as I have a clear conscience, I believe she won't unreasonably trouble me," Betsy said.
Outside the door, Becky didn't leave immediately; instead, she pulled Nora aside to listen in the corner.
Listening to the conversation inside the room, the two exchanged a glance, and Nora gestured for Becky to leave quickly.
Becky smirked, saying, "Betsy is quite sensible, not saying one thing to your face and doing another behind your back."
Nora smiled knowingly. "She's been in the entertainment industry for so long, so she should be savvy and understand who the real authority is. Actually, she had to stay away from Caden. If the Gordon family is under Caden's control now, do you think she would listen to us?"
Becky nodded in agreement. "That's true. But why does it sound like you're praising Aaron again?"
Nora's eyes twinkled. "You caught that."
Becky rolled her eyes, rubbing her arm. "Nora, enough. Don't be so nauseating."
Nora chuckled. "Fine, I won't nauseate you, I'll let you praise Lucas now."
Becky snorted, "I won't praise a man. He's the one who should be praising me now!"
Nora nodded seriously. "I see. You're praising Lucas that his biggest virtue is loyalty, right? What else?"
Becky was taken aback, not expecting Nora to be so playful, and burst into laughter. "Nora, you are more humorous than I thought."
Nora smiled faintly. "I asked you to praise Lucas, not me!"
Becky said, "No, he has no virtues worth praising. I prefer praising you!"
"Then continue."
The two chatted and laughed while Nora looked around for Jenny.
At this moment, Jenny was sitting bored in a corner of the banquet hall, playing with her phone.
Nora and Becky walked up to her, calling her.
Jenny looked up, put away her phone, and pouted. "Where did you two go, leaving me here alone without a word?"
"What do you think?" Becky sat down beside her, looking interested.
Jenny's eyes flickered. "Did you go to find Betsy?"
"Yes," Becky replied
"How did it go?" Jenny asked.
Nora sat on the other side, smiling. "With Becky stepping in, Betsy could do nothing but obey."
Becky waved her hand. "I won't take credit this time. Jenny, Aaron's name is quite useful. She's afraid of Mr. Gordon, so she could only yield to our authority."
Jenny couldn't help but laugh, but she still felt a bit uneasy. "Will this be okay?"
Becky patted Jenny's shoulder. "Don't worry, we've made an agreement with Betsy; she's not allowed to engage in any physical intimacy with Edward. And Nora has spent a lot of money on this."
Nora coughed lightly, giving Becky a meaningful look, signaling her not to continue.
Becky immediately understood, chuckled, and held back the rest of her words.
But Jenny had already understood. "Nora, did you spend a lot of money to have Betsy do something for you?"
Nora smiled. "Not much money, you don't need to worry."
Jenny didn't believe it and asked Becky, "Becky, tell me."
Becky kept her mouth shut, making a quiet gesture.
Nora chuckled. "It's no big deal. Don't forget, I'm incredibly wealthy now. Spending a little money here and there doesn't bother me."
Seeing Nora's expression of extravagance and generosity, Jenny found it amusing and touching, reaching out to hug her. "Nora, I love you so much."
Aaron walked over with a plate of food and overheard this statement.
His handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly, somewhat displeased.
Nora was his wife; Jenny shouldn't compete with him for Nora!
"Aaron is here," Becky saw Aaron approaching and greeted him with a smile.
Aaron nodded slightly and pulled Nora to his side.
"Honey, are you hungry? Have something to eat first."
Smelling the food, Nora realized she was indeed hungry and took the plate to eat.
Aaron also took a glass of juice from a passing waiter.
After Nora had a few bites of food, he handed her the juice.
After she took a few sips, Aaron took a tissue to wipe her mouth.
Becky and Jenny watched the two show affection, exchanging a glance.
"Jenny, do you want to stay here any longer?" Becky asked.
Jenny shook her head, pulling her to leave. "No, let's go."
"Nora, Aaron, you two carry on, we won't interrupt." Becky waved with a smile.
Nora chuckled, unable to speak with food in her mouth, and watched as Becky and Jenny left confidently.
Aaron held the juice for her and asked, "Where did you go just now?"
Swallowing her food, Nora's eyes flickered. "I went to discuss business."
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Discuss business? With whom, and what business?"
"Confidential."
Aaron narrowed his eyes. "Honey, you want to keep secrets from me?"
"Is that not allowed?" Nora tilted her head slightly and drank the juice from his hand.
"What do you think?" Aaron was a bit displeased.
"I think it's allowed."
"I think it's not."
Nora glared at him, "You want what you think, not what I think?"
This sounded like a line from a domineering CEO.
It seemed she was displeased.
Aaron didn't dare to argue further with Nora. "Fine, if you don't want to say, you don't have to. Do as you wish."
Nora smiled, watching a waiter pass by with a tray of wine, her eyes glinting. "Honey, get me a glass of wine."
Aaron's brow furrowed slightly, naturally saying, "What wine? Have some juice."
Nora gave him a look, teasing, "Who was it that said I can do as I wish? You're contradicting yourself so quickly."
