Chapter 81 Could Nora Be a Master Healer?
Howard scanned the room, pausing for a second on Nora before moving on.
"Where's Dr. Luna? Why isn't she in the office?"
"Oh, she stepped out after receiving a call from her dad," a research staff member said.
"Then let's not wait for her."
Howard silently slapped the stack of papers onto the table.
"Nora, I've printed out the case analysis you submitted. Do you really think your surgical plan is viable?"
"I think it is," Nora replied.
Howard snorted, "Viable? To me, your plan seems like pipe dream to me. Nora, if you can't come up with a plan, just admit it. I won't hold it against you. But please don't just concoct plans to fulfill the task. Do you realize how many lives could be at stake if you're wrong? Can you bear that responsibility?"
Despite the criticism, Nora's expression remained calm.
"I didn't make it up; I've done a related surgery before."
Had she performed a related surgery?
Howard was taken aback, his eyes filled with doubt.
"You've performed a related surgery?"
He recalled rumors about a Master healer who had performed similar surgeries.
Could Nora be the Master healer, Dr. Sun?
No!
How could she be the seasoned Dr. Sun when she's so young?
His phone began to ring.
Glancing at it, he saw it was the Dean calling.
"Dean."
"Dr. Hamilton, a relative of mine, was just diagnosed with advanced brain cancer, and he's now in a coma. The doctors say he could go at any moment."
The Dean continued, "I know your research team is working on brain cancer. Any hope for surgery or extending his life?"
Hearing this, Howard's gaze instinctively shifted to Nora.
After a brief silence, he replied, "Dean, we're still researching, but if the patient agrees, we could attempt surgery."
Since Nora claimed to have done a similar surgery before, it may be worth letting her try.
He wanted to see if she had the courage to take on the operation!
Howard hung up and looked at Nora.
"Nora, let me ask you again. Have you really performed this kind of brain surgery before?"
"Yes," Nora responded.
"Alright, there's a patient with end-stage brain cancer at the hospital. Without surgery, his life is hanging by a thread. Do you dare to take on this surgery?"
To any doctor, the more challenging the surgery, the more it could spur their fighting spirit.
A spark of determination flashed through Nora's expressive eyes.
"I do."
In the Associate Dean's office.
"Dad, did you need something? I have to get back to work."
Dr. Luna had waited in the office for ages before George returned, expressing his frustration.
George showed her a news article on his phone. "Did you post this blog?"
Dr. Luna was taken aback, a flicker of guilt crossing her eyes.
"Dad, how did you find out?"
Frustrated, George slammed his hand. "Why are you posting blogs? Are you trying to ruin our family?"
Dr. Luna was stunned.
"Dad, I just shared some gossip. Why are you accusing me of such a serious offense?"
George looked at her with disappointment. "Do you know who she is?"
Dr. Luna replied disdainfully, "Isn't she just some flirtatious woman?"
"Shut your mouth!"
George fumed, "She was tending to Aaron's leg, the CEO of Gordon Group. Because of your nonsense, I lost my shot at becoming the next dean. Do you know that if it hadn't been for this mess, I would have been the dean by now? Luna, do you want to be the black sheep of the family?"
Dr. Luna was stunned by his words.
She swallowed hard, "Dad, I can't stand seeing her flirt around when she has a husband."
"Her life, not yours. Besides, she's divorced," he replied.
George continued firmly, "I sent you abroad to make a name for yourself in the medical field, not to cause chaos in the hospital. Here's what you'll do. Post a clarification immediately and apologize to that doctor in person."
Apologize to Nora.
Dr. Luna's face flushed with resistance, "Dad, she's nothing to me; I will not apologize to her."
"She may be nothing, but she's about to put an end to your father's career, and with that, you can say goodbye to your privileged lifestyle as well," George said with a cool voice. "If you don't do what I'm telling you, don't bother calling me dad."
In the evening...
Noe was driving Aaron to pick up his three kids from daycare.
His phone pinged with a message from Nora.
"Mr. Wilson, I'm about to go into surgery and might be late coming home. Could you please pick up the kids for me?"
After responding, Noe glanced in the rearview mirror at Aaron sitting in the backseat.
"Mr. Gordon, Nora said she's got surgery soon and will be back late."
The CEO had been silent since leaving the company, chilly like a walking freezer.
Noe suspected that the boss was probably jealous of Dr. Parker again.
Aaron, staring at his laptop screen with lips pressed thinly together, remained silent.
Soon, they arrived at Mont International Kindergarten.
At dismissal time, the doors opened, and kids rushed out to their waiting parents.
Noe stepped out to gather the three children.
"Noe, are you picking us up again? Is Mr. Gordon in the car waiting?" Samantha asked with wide, excited eyes.
"Yes, Mr. Gordon is waiting for you in the car," Noe said as he led the kids back to the vehicle.
"Noe, is Mom busy at the hospital again?" inquired Alex, looking up.
"That's right," Noe confirmed.
Billy's face creased with concern, "Mom works so hard, I hope she doesn't get as tired as she was yesterday."
"Mom can't get tired," Samantha cocked her head, "Otherwise she and Mr. Gordon end up fighting."
She frowned in thought, "I wonder if Mom and Mr. Gordon have made up yet."
Overhearing the kids, Noe just rubbed his nose and kept mum.
They had reconciled in the morning, but by the afternoon, the jealousy had stirred up again.
Were they on good terms now or not?
The four of them got into the car.
Samantha cheerfully greeted Mr. Gordon.
Her brothers chimed in with a warm "hello" to Mr. Gordon, too.
Aaron closed his laptop, the chilly aura around him dissipating a bit.
"You alright, Mr. Gordon?" Samantha leaned into him, tilting her head to look at him.
Alex and Billy also picked up on Aaron's subdued mood.
