Chapter 776 Was It Useful to Talk to Him

Jenny stopped in her tracks. "What am I thinking?"

Edric looked at her. "Are you thinking of divorcing me?"

Jenny lowered her gaze slightly and fell silent.

Her silence made Edric's breath tighten, and the strength in his hand suddenly tightened.

"Honey, do you really have such thoughts?"

Jenny winced, furrowing her brows. "You hurt me."

Edric's face darkened, but he still let go of her hand.

Jenny moved her wrist and said, "Edric, I don't want to divorce you, but I'm tired, really tired."

Edric stared at her delicate face, thinking of the scene he saw at Oasis Lounge last night, his gaze turning cold.

"So you went to the bar to get drunk last night and flirted with that Ulysses?"

Jenny's movements paused, her eyebrows twisted. "What do you mean by flirting with Ulysses? Don't slander me."

"Slander? Should I pull out the surveillance footage from last night to see what would have happened if I had been a step late and you were with him?"

If he had been a step later, Jenny and Ulysses would have been kissing in public!

His wife actually dared to flirt with another man in public!

If Jenny hadn't been drunk, Edric wouldn't have let it go so easily!

Indeed, Edric's lack of action towards Jenny doesn't guarantee leniency for Ulysses, who harbored desires for his wife!

"Edric, stop harassing me. When you talk about how I am with other men, have you ever thought about yourself?"

Jenny's temper flared up. "According to your logic, when I saw you entering the hotel with Ursula, can I assume that you took her to a room?"

At this, Edric furrowed his brow. "When did I enter the hotel with Ursula?"

Jenny smirked. "Your mother deliberately sent me a photo. You and she checked into the hotel together. Did your mother slander you?"

Jenny flipped through the photos on her phone for Edric to see. Edric stared at the photos, feeling a sudden headache.

A few days ago, Edric went abroad to do some business, and unexpectedly, Ursula came the next day.

She said she was here for tourism, and out of respect for Fiona, Edric did help her with the hotel check-in.

But that was it.

Edric didn't expect Fiona to deliberately send photos to Jenny, causing her to misunderstand him.

Really.

"Jenny..."

"Enough, don't say anymore. I don't mean to believe you, and I don't want to discuss this matter again. Let's go," Jenny interrupted Edric, not wanting to say more.

But Jenny was really annoyed.

If they continued, Jenny feared she would get hysterical!

Watching Jenny's back, Edric's brow remained furrowed, feeling frustrated but unable to express it.

He caught up with Jenny in big strides. "Jenny, don't go drinking alone in the future. You can talk to me if there's something."

Jenny thought, 'Even if I talk to you, it's useless.'

'Edric's inability to convince Fiona suggests that she should stop introducing more women into his life.'

'Therefore, telling Edric would only add to the annoyance; it's useless.'

'It's better not to say anything.'

Jenny remained silent, walking over to Nora and Aaron.

On the stage, the host was inviting Caden to give a speech.

'Caden still carried himself well in front of others.'

'He took good care of himself and hadn't gained weight at his age.'

'Apart from a few signs of aging on his face, Caden was still a mature and charming old man.'

Nora evaluated him in her mind, her gaze unconsciously searching for Jeffery.

At this moment, Jeffery was quietly standing below the stage, watching Caden.

Her expression was calm, unlike before, which kept people at a distance.

It seemed that Jeffery was truly determined to change.

Nora smiled faintly, shifting her gaze away from her, back to Caden.

Caden spoke on stage, giving thanks in the end, letting everyone enjoy the party, and then finished his speech.

The host took over, saying some formalities before moving on to the cake-cutting ceremony.

At the host's signal, the lights in the banquet hall dimmed.

Someone pushed a small cart with the cake onto the stage.

The cake was three-tiered, and the host gestured for everyone to sing a birthday song for Caden.

Everyone in the room clapped and sang along to the beat of the song.

The atmosphere was lively, and the host then asked Caden to make a wish.

Caden stood in front of the cake, clenched his fists to make a wish, and then blew out the candles.

The lights came back on, and everyone applauded.

The host announced the official start of the banquet.

The guests in the audience began to engage in various activities.

In the crowd, Alex and a few children were standing aside to watch the birthday celebration.

When someone on stage started performing, Billy turned his head and noticed that Millie had disappeared at some point.

His little brows furrowed slightly as he looked around, but he didn't see Millie.

He quickly asked Samantha and the others, "Have you seen Millie?"

Samantha tilted her head. "She was here just before Grandpa cut the cake; she must have run off again."

Millie was lively and often ran around during the party.

So Samantha thought she had probably sneaked off to play when the lights were turned off.

"I'll go look for her," Billy said, frowning.

Alex glanced at the large banquet hall.

In such a big place, Billy alone looked for Millie; who knew how long it would take to find her.

So he called the Jones family's bodyguards to help him find Millie.

Upon hearing that Billy was looking for Millie, several bodyguards from the Gordon family also joined in the search.

Millie was not found in the banquet hall.

Billy instructed the bodyguards to search the front and back gardens of the restaurant.

The bodyguards all acknowledged and split up to search.

After a moment of thought, Billy walked towards the back garden with the bodyguards from the Gordon family.

The cool breeze of the spring night blew gently.

The back garden was quiet, with no one around.

The bodyguards strode forward, searching for Millie's trail.

Billy looked around as he walked, calling out, "Millie, where are you?"

There was no response, so Billy continued to search ahead.

After a while, one of the bodyguards who had gone ahead to search came back.

"Billy, we found Millie."

Billy's eyes lit up, and he quickly followed the bodyguard to the depths of the back garden.

At that moment, in a corner of the back garden, a black-clad bodyguard was coldly restraining a young man.

Another bodyguard stood protectively in front of Millie.

The man, dressed as a waiter, shouted, "Let me go. What are you trying to do?"

Millie looked anxious. "Please let go of him; he's not a bad person."

The bodyguard protecting her blocked her, not allowing her to approach the young man.

The bodyguard restraining the man remained unmoved, waiting for Billy to arrive and make a decision.

Soon, Billy arrived with the bodyguard.

"Millie."

Upon hearing the call, Millie turned around and hurriedly said, "Billy, please ask the bodyguard to let go of him."

Billy frowned, first looking her over.

Seeing that she was unharmed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
