Chapter 1006 The Unreliable Husband
Aaron said, "It's easy. Just nod and agree with whatever the elders say. Act sincere and honest. Be ready for any scolding or beating. If it gets really bad, just kneel."
Nora was stunned. "Kneel? What kind of advice is that?"
Aaron smiled at James. "James, you get it, right? If the elders don't approve of you marrying their daughter, we kneel. The main goal is to bring your wife home."
James nodded along.
Nora rubbed her forehead, worried Aaron might lead James astray.
Aisha teased, "So, Mr. Gordon, you're saying to get a wife, you have to be shameless?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Exactly."
Aisha laughed. "You talk like you've been through it."
Aaron wrapped his arm around Nora. "Almost."
Nora chuckled. "Did my family treat you like that?"
Aaron replied, "Ask Emma. If I hadn't clung to you shamelessly, how could I have brought you home?"
Aaron grinned smugly, no trace of his usual cold CEO demeanor.
Nora laughed and playfully glared. "Can you be serious for a moment?"
"It's fine, they're not outsiders."
Aaron looked at James. "I'm just teaching James how to win over his future in-laws."
Without his advice, James wouldn't have won over Jasmine so quickly. When it came to pursuing a wife, Aaron knew his stuff.
"Thanks, Mr. Gordon. I'm really grateful." James cupped his hands in thanks. They exchanged a knowing glance.
James eventually left with Jasmine. Nora felt a bit emotional. She glanced at Seraphina nearby and teased, "Seraphina, another couple is off the market. When's your turn?"
Seraphina blushed. "Mrs. Gordon, I'm still young, no rush."
Nora laughed, thinking, ' Who was it that was eager to marry Noe before leaving home? Now Seraphina is saying she isn't in a hurry! Seraphina is even shy! She has fully integrated into our lives and won't be single for long.'
In the afternoon, Hugo returned. He planned to take them to meet Diego and Mia.
Billy didn't go. He had his own things to do.
Billy borrowed Nora's needles and stayed upstairs, using them on Millie's doll while comparing it to a human anatomy diagram on the computer. His serious little face made him look quite professional.
Nora was worried, so she asked Seraphina to stay with Billy.
In case Billy went too far, Seraphina could intervene. She also wanted Samantha to stay at Hugo's house, but Samantha was too curious about the witch doctor Signe and insisted on going.
Nora and Aaron didn't argue and took her along.
However, Hugo didn't take them to Diego and Mia's house but to another relative's house.
This relative's house was where Randall, who had insulted Millie at school, lived.
This house was just a street away from Diego and Mia's place. It was an impressive building, three times the size of Diego and Mia's. Clearly, Randall's family was quite wealthy, on par with Hugo's.
Seeing Hugo bring guests, the male host quickly came out to greet them. "Hugo."
"Walter, let me introduce you. This is Aaron and his wife, Nora. Mr. Gordon, this is my brother, Walter Rochet."
"Hello, Mr. Gordon, I've heard a lot about you." Walter quickly shook hands with Aaron.
Aaron smiled and exchanged a few polite words.
"Please, come inside." Walter invited them in.
They passed through the front garden and arrived at the living room. Diego and Mia were sitting on the sofa, with Walter's wife, Astrid Larsen, standing beside them.
It was Aaron's first time meeting Diego and Mia, but Nora's second. Remembering their unfriendly attitude last time, Nora's expression turned cold.
If they brought Millie back and treated her well, it wouldn't matter if Diego and Mia were unfriendly. But if they didn't care for Millie, Nora wouldn't tolerate any grievances.
"Diego, Mia, you've met Dr. Smith, right?" Hugo said. "Let me introduce you again. This is Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith's husband."
"Hello," Diego greeted Aaron and Nora, noticeably more polite. But Mia's gaze remained cold and unfriendly.
"Astrid, serve the coffee," Walter signaled.
Astrid, slightly plump, had the servant bring coffee.
"Mr. Gordon, let's chat over coffee," Walter smiled.
Aaron took a sip and said calmly, "I heard from Millie that Mrs. Rochet had Signe perform some rituals, and now everyone says Millie is a jinx. Is that true?"
Before they came, Hugo had already called, so everyone knew Aaron and Nora were here to confront them.
Walter felt awkward and forced a smile. "It's all Randall's nonsense. When he comes back, I'll set him straight."
Aaron looked at Mia, his gaze cold. "Nonsense? I don't think so. Someone must dislike Millie and used some witch doctor rituals to spread rumors that she's a jinx, right?"
Hearing this, Hugo immediately said, "Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, I've already talked to them. They didn't mean it that way."
"Hugo, please translate my words to Mrs. Rochet and let her tell us her thoughts."
Aaron showed no sign of backing down.
Hugo had no choice but to translate Aaron's words.
Mia's eyes flashed with hostility. "Yes, Millie is a jinx. Millie and Emmeline killed Stov. People from Chrisland are no good!"
Aaron and Nora couldn't understand Mia's words, but her expression said it all.
"Hugo, what did she say?" Seeing Hugo hesitate, Aaron asked.
"Nothing, Mia is just a bit agitated." Hugo frowned and glanced at Mia with displeasure. 'Mia is really foolish. Still spouting nonsense at this point? Does Mia not want the two families to reconcile?'
