Chapter 1022 The Child Might Not Survive
"Better be," Aaron nodded slightly at Walter. "Alright, Mr. Rochet, sorry for the trouble today. We won't bother you anymore."
Walter still looked a bit out of it. Losing faith is tough to handle. He forced a smile. "Okay, take care."
As they were about to leave, Alfred was the most reluctant. Samantha handed him her tablet. "Alfred, we're leaving. Take this."
Alfred took the tablet, his eyes welling up. He hugged it tightly, looking very reluctant. Samantha turned to Walter. "Walter, Alfred is your son. Treat him well and don't let anyone bully him, okay?"
Walter felt a bit embarrassed but promised, "Don't worry, I won't let anyone bully Alfred again."
Samantha nodded, her big eyes on Alfred. "Alfred, if anyone bullies you, tell me, and I'll back you up."
Alfred nodded hard, trying to hold back his tears. "Let's go, Samantha," Billy said. Samantha waved at Alfred. "Goodbye."
Alfred slowly raised his hand and waved back, watching them get into the car and drive away. He chased after the car until it left the garden, tears blurring his vision. He wiped them away, determined. 'Goodbye, Samantha. I'll grow up, get stronger, and find you again!'
In the car, Samantha watched Alfred's figure get smaller until she couldn't see him anymore. She sighed. Nora smiled. "Samantha, what's wrong?"
Samantha pouted. "Alfred is so pitiful. I don't want to leave him alone."
Nora smiled. "Don't worry, Walter promised he wouldn't let anyone bully Alfred again."
Billy added, "Yeah, with you watching, they wouldn't dare."
Samantha nodded. "That's right, I'm very powerful. Let's see who dares to bully Alfred again."
Billy teased, "What's so powerful about you? You're only good at eating."
Samantha's face showed annoyance. "Billy, you're not as likable as Alfred. He said I'm powerful!"
Billy rolled his eyes. "You just love compliments and can't take criticism."
Samantha puffed up angrily, "How am I not powerful? I chose to be born to Mom and Dad. They'll take care of everything for me. I win without any effort!"
Nora laughed. Samantha's quick mind was indeed powerful. Billy nodded. "Alright, you're powerful, your mouth is powerful, I surrender."
Samantha turned away, ignoring him. Millie, sitting nearby, giggled. "Samantha, don't be mad. Billy cares about you a lot."
Samantha pouted. "No, he doesn't. He cares about you the most now."
Millie blinked and giggled again. "That's true."
Samantha felt a pang in her chest. "Can't you comfort me a bit? I need someone to care about me too!"
Billy glanced at her. "Aren't there enough people who care about you? Mom and Dad care about you the most."
Samantha replied, "They don't count! I want to find a little boy to care about me."
Billy said, "Like Alfred?"
"Yeah."
"Too bad he didn't come home with you."
Samantha's face turned red with anger. "Don't talk to me!"
Millie quickly leaned over. "Samantha, I'm sorry."
Samantha huffed. "You're his wife, you're on his side."
Millie blinked. "I haven't married him yet, so I'm on your side now."
Samantha's eyes lit up. "Then scold him a bit!"
Millie giggled. "Samantha, Mom said good girls shouldn't scold people."
Samantha rolled her eyes. "Hmph, you just don't dare to scold him. Putting love before friendship!"
Nora and Aaron laughed heartily. The joy of having kids lay in moments like these. Children's words always brought laughter.
Millie's situation was finally sorted out. She could choose to stay here long-term or go back to Chrisland. James had moved out with Jasmine, thinking Millie would leave with them. But Millie stayed because Aaron and the others were here, and Billy had gone to school to teach Randall a lesson. Now everyone at school was fawning over Millie, making her very happy.
When she heard Jasmine had left, Millie didn't seem eager to go with them. James was frustrated. He asked Millie if she wanted to go back to Chrisland. Millie hesitated. "I just made a lot of new friends here."
She didn't want to leave. James was even more frustrated. He had sacrificed his looks to take Millie away, but now she didn't want to go. His sacrifice seemed unnecessary.
Of course, this thought was fleeting. Although James was with Jasmine for a purpose, he was momentarily lost in desire, feeling that his current life was quite enjoyable. So despite his frustration, James respected Millie's wishes and didn't force her to leave.
Nora and Aaron stayed at Hugo's house until Millie finished school. After consulting Millie, Nora planned to take her back to the country. But then, something serious happened. Gabriella and Johnnie were in a car accident. The car fell off a cliff and exploded. Fortunately, Gabriella and Johnnie crawled out at the last moment and weren't killed.
Upon hearing the news, Nora and Aaron rushed to the hospital. Gabriella and Johnnie were in the emergency room. Gabriella's parents, Thea and Yannick, were anxiously waiting in the hallway. After exchanging pleasantries, they learned that Gabriella had just taken Johnnie to meet them. Although Thea and Yannick were disappointed Gabriella couldn't be with Miguel, they didn't interfere much in her personal matters and had accepted Johnnie as their future son-in-law.
During dinner, they even talked about finalizing wedding plans. It was a pleasant conversation. But they didn't expect Gabriella and Johnnie to have a car accident after leaving. Aaron and Nora comforted Thea and Yannick and then waited with them outside the operating room.
Before long, a doctor came out. "Is Gabriella's family here?"
"We are," Gabriella's parents quickly responded.
"The pregnant woman's uterus is experiencing severe bleeding, and the baby might not survive. She needs a blood transfusion now. Please sign here."
