Chapter 1038 I Am Just a Backdrop
Aaron shot him a look. "If you stay quiet, no one will care."
"I knew it, you're just embarrassed and mad!" Mateo teased, turning to Nora. "Nora, don't you think he gets tired of being so jealous?"
Nora burst out laughing. She knew Aaron would get jealous when she touched Rafael in front of him. But she couldn't use the hidden weapon from a distance. "Alright, stop being jealous. I already taught Rafael a lesson for Johnnie and Gabriella. Consider it making up for it."
Aaron said coolly, "You're really something. I can't compare."
Nora smiled and took his arm. "Don't be jealous. You give me confidence. Without you, I wouldn't dare confront Rafael."
She said it playfully, trying to please him. Aaron knew Nora was exaggerating on purpose. She was braver than anyone. But he was still pleased. "You still know to lean on me?"
Nora laughed. "Of course. You're so tall and strong, only you can block Yandel's view and keep him from noticing anything."
Aaron said, "I'm just a backdrop?"
Nora gave him a playful slap. "How about you do it next time?"
"Sure, you teach me how."
Nora said, "Don't take my job!"
Yandel helped Rafael back to the palace.
Rafael was both angry and uncomfortable. "I finally made some progress with my father, and now that bitch Nora ruined it all."
Yandel's face was gloomy. "Why rush? You don't really want King Tomas's favor anyway. What does it matter if he doesn't change his opinion of you?"
Rafael thought for a moment and nodded. "You're right. I've prepared for the worst. If he doesn't follow my plan, he can't blame me for being ruthless!"
He wanted a harmonious father-son relationship, but Tomas didn't want his filial piety. So Tomas couldn't blame him for being ruthless.
A trace of malice flashed in Rafael's eyes. At that moment, his stomach churned. "Yandel, I feel awful, help me quickly!"
Yandel frowned. "What exactly did Nora do to you just now?"
"She must have used a hidden weapon on me while pretending to treat me!"
Yandel said, "Since you knew she might use a hidden weapon, why weren't you more cautious? Didn't you feel any pain when she did it?"
Rafael's eyes flickered, almost dying of anger. He was blinded by her beauty and let his guard down, allowing that bitch Nora to succeed.
He just didn't expect that Nora, who looked so cold and aloof, would also use her looks to deceive.
Nora and Aaron left the royal family, said goodbye to the Hugo Family, and took the kids back to Chrisland.
Johnnie and Gabriella had returned a bit earlier. Gabriella moved into Johnnie's apartment. Aaron assigned someone to help take care of Johnnie with her. Nora would visit regularly to treat him.
A few days later, Nora got a call from Jane. She and Zephyr had gotten married and invited Nora and Aaron to dinner.
Nora was a bit surprised; she didn't expect them to get married so quickly. She didn't hesitate and went to the hotel for dinner with Aaron.
Jane had booked a private restaurant. When they arrived, Jane was waiting for them. "Mr. Gordon, Nora, you're here. Mr. Hamilton and Sandy arrived early."
Nora knew Kenneth and Sandy were also invited. After some small talk, she asked, "So, no wedding, just dinner?"
Jane smiled. "We both hate the hassle, so we just invited close friends for a meal."
Nora got it. Part of it was their dislike for fuss, but also because of Zephyr's status. He was an illegitimate child of the Wright family and now competing with Hubert in the family business. Keeping a low profile made sense.
"A honeymoon trip sounds nice," Nora suggested.
Jane smiled. "We'll see. We're both super busy right now."
She led Nora and Aaron down the hallway to the private room. As they walked, Nora casually asked, "How's Dr. Wright doing in business now that he's left medicine?"
"Not bad," Jane said with a hint of admiration. "Zephyr didn't study finance, but he's eager to learn. He even enrolled in a class during his free time. Sometimes he talks to me about financial stuff, and he uses all these professional terms I don't get."
A talented guy is good in any field. Zephyr was indeed a gem.
"Dr. Wright always seemed very wise," Nora praised.
As they chatted, Aaron carried Nora's bag and followed them.
Jane and Zephyr had booked a large private room. There were about three or four tables, mostly young people, close friends, and relatives of Jane and Zephyr.
Jane led Aaron and Nora to the table with Kenneth and Sandy. Besides Kenneth and Sandy, the rest were business and political elites, invited to accompany Kenneth and Aaron for drinks.
After sitting down, Nora and Aaron exchanged pleasantries with everyone. Then Nora asked Sandy, "Didn't you bring Otis?"
Nora and Aaron didn't live with the Hamilton Family now. They were traveling between Lindwood City and Houston, only visiting the Hamilton Family when they had time.
"No, Emma said we should have some couple time and not bring Otis," Sandy smiled gently, radiating happiness.
Nora also smiled. Ever since Emma had Otis, she doted on him constantly. She didn't even go shopping anymore.
She practically treated Otis like her own son and even urged Sandy to have a second child.
Of course, Sandy and Kenneth weren't planning on having another child so soon. She was currently weaning and preparing to remove the scars on her face.
Nora had developed a scar treatment ointment, and Sandy had been using it for a while. Although the scars were still there, her skin was much better than before.
Next week, Kenneth planned to take Sandy for some cosmetic adjustments to completely remove the scars.
"Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, you're here," Zephyr called over by Jane.
He was dressed in a dark suit, wrapping his tall and slender figure. Zephyr looked radiant, no longer as gloomy as before.
Now, he looked more like a successful professional, full of vigor. This change showed that Zephyr was living a happy life now. It seemed he had finally let go of his inner obsessions.
