Chapter 699 At Least Tasted a Woman's Flavor
Nora knew that Margaret was extremely inequitable right now.
She couldn't be bothered to argue. "Margaret Taylor, you don't need to worry about my fiancé and me. If there's nothing else, you can leave now. By the way, do you need me to help you add another charge of assault against Jackson Gordon?"
Upon hearing this, Margaret's face twisted.
Adding charges against Jackson now wouldn't make any difference.
Jackson had ordered someone to assault Margaret, ruining her reputation.
Margaret didn't want Jackson to go to jail, and she wanted money!
But Jackson wasn't Aaron, and he wouldn't give her money anymore.
"Nora, I don't need your fake kindness."
Margaret said with a face full of resentment and then turned to leave.
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Wait a minute. Margaret Taylor, I'll send you an account later. I hope you convert all the bags, jewelry, and cars Jackson bought for you into cash and transfer the money to the account I sent you. Otherwise, you better be prepared to be charged with fraud."
Margaret suddenly turned around, her face pale as she looked at Nora.
"What are you saying? You want me to give back all the money and gifts Jackson gave me!"
Nora smiled. "Yes, Jackson was spending my fiancé's money, and my fiancé isn't a fool."
Nora smiled lightly, speaking as if it were no big deal.
Margaret felt as if her heart was being slashed with a knife.
She trusted Jackson wrongly, suffered violation, and ended up losing both her dignity and money!
A metallic taste filled her throat, and Margaret suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Margaret was so angry that she had internal injuries!
Nora sighed inwardly, and kindly reminded her, "Margaret Taylor, health is the most important thing. I hope this incident helps you realize your mistakes and you can live a more grounded life in the future."
If Margaret could be content and not have so many unrealistic fantasies, she could easily find a good man to settle down with.
Margaret wiped the blood from her lips, her face as pale as paper.
"Stop preaching. I did nothing wrong, nothing wrong!"
With that, Margaret turned and stumbled away.
Nora watched her back, shook her head, and a trace of pity flashed in her eyes.
If Margaret still couldn't recognize her mistakes, she wasn't worth sympathizing with!
In the visiting room, Aaron sat across from Jackson.
Aaron's tall and elegant figure leaned back against the chair, looking at Jackson's identical face, and spoke calmly, "I heard you wanted to see me. Tell me, why do you want to see me?"
Jackson's face was still bleeding from Margaret's scratches, causing him to wince in pain and simmer with irritation.
Facing the noble and aloof Aaron, Jackson felt like a clown.
They had the same face, so why couldn't he replace Aaron?
"Why did you bring that bitch to see me?" Jackson snarled.
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "At least she was your woman. It is good to let you see her one last time."
One last time!
Aaron was implying that Jackson was about to die!
Jackson glared at Aaron. "Why aren't you dead?"
Aaron was the one who should have died!
Why was Aaron still alive?
"Why else? Because I have my lucky star with me."
Aaron smirked, looking triumphant.
The lucky star he referred to was Nora.
Seeing the soft light in Aaron's eyes when he mentioned Nora, Jackson clenched his fists, filled with jealousy.
Nora!
Why hadn't he slept with her?
No, he couldn't just watch Aaron and Nora live happily ever after.
Even if he died, Jackson wanted to plant a thorn in Aaron's heart.
Jackson's eyes flashed, and he suddenly smiled.
"Aaron, I have to say, your wife tastes pretty good. While you were away, she and I were quite affectionate. She is really unforgettable, making me reminisce."
"Even if I die, at least I've slept with your woman. So, it's not a loss."
Jackson looked smug, waiting for Aaron to get angry.
But Aaron's face didn't change at all.
He just looked at Jackson like he was a clown.
Jackson glared at Aaron. "Don't you believe me? Did Nora tell you that she never slept with me?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow and changed his sitting position, looking indifferently.
Jackson slammed the table, shouting, "Aaron, stop deceiving yourself. My face was made to look like yours. While you were away, your fiancée treated me as if I were you. We're a couple living under the same roof. Do you really think nothing happened between us?"
Aaron watched Jackson's desperate attempts to provoke him and remained unbothered.
"Jackson Gordon, you don't need to try to drive a wedge between me and my fiancée. I won't believe you, and you know she never let you touch her."
"No, I did touch her, Aaron. You've been cuckolded!" Jackson shouted.
Aaron smiled. "Jackson Gordon, do you believe in intuition? My Nora is incredibly smart. Even though you made yourself look like me, she sensed something was wrong."
"She knew from the start that you were a fake, which is why she secretly searched for me and eventually reunited with me. That's why I said she's my lucky star. Meeting her is the greatest fortune of my life!"
Aaron's eyes were full of tenderness as he spoke about his love for Nora.
Jackson's eyes were bloodshot, and his face twisted in rage.
If it weren't for the barrier, he would have lunged at Aaron and grabbed him by the collar.
"Aaron, how did you survive? You were shot and fell into the water!"
Aaron smiled, stood up, and said, "I'm a lucky dog. It was sheer luck that saved me from death, so my good fortune is yet to come. As for you, all you await is the punishment of the law!"
With that, Aaron turned and left.
Behind him, Jackson's roars echoed.
"Aaron, don't go! Explain yourself! Why didn't you die?"
Aaron ignored him and walked away briskly.
As the door closed, a hint of panic flashed in Jackson's eyes.
"Aaron, I'm your cousin. You can't be so ruthless to your own family. Come back, come back!"
The only response Jackson got was the air and the reprimands of the officers.
The door shut out Jackson's voice, and Aaron walked gracefully towards Nora, who was waiting for him.
Nora stood there, looking noble and elegant, like a red rose blooming in the wind, intoxicating him.
"All done?" Nora asked.
"Yes, let's go."
Aaron wrapped his arm around Nora's slender waist and looked around. "Where did Margaret go?"
"She left."
"Just like that?"
"Yes, I told her to convert all the things Jackson Gordon bought her with your money into cash and transfer it to my account. Once she does, I'll donate the money to impoverished areas."
Nora didn't want to keep that money.
It felt tainted.
Aaron nodded. "Good. Are you thinking of donating it to the people of Lumirians?"
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Do you think Elara Everhart would accept our donation?"
"She wouldn't consider her place impoverished!"
"Exactly!"
The two joked a bit and then got into Frederick's car.
The car sped away, leaving the police station, a symbol of reflection and redemption, far behind them.
