Chapter 550 He Can't Do It

"Dr. Hernandez, it hurts so much, please help me," said Juliet Fajrer, the pregnant woman, who lay on the bed, sweating profusely and breathing rapidly.

"Don't worry. This is your second child, so you must have experience, right?" Sandy quickly reassured her.

Juliet's eyes filled with tears, and said, "But I just fell, and my baby isn't due yet."

"Don't be afraid. I will make sure your baby is born safely," Sandy said softly, continuously comforting her.

"Follow my breathing rhythm," Sandy's calm tone helped to stabilize Juliet.

Juliet followed Sandy's rhythm, and her panic began to subside. Zephyr prepared for the delivery, his expression softening as he listened to Sandy.

Sandy examined Juliet's condition. She advised, "Your cervix is dilating quickly, but it will still be some time before the baby is born. Save your strength."

"Okay," Juliet replied, less panicked than before.

"Dr. Hernandez, thank you for helping me deliver. Without you, I wouldn't know what to do," Juliet said.

Sandy smiled, and replied, "Landon is very clever. Even without me, he would have found a midwife for you before you gave birth."

Landon, Juliet's first son, was the boy who had fetched Sandy. The family consisted of just the two of them now.

Half a year ago, Juliet's husband and father-in-law died in a tsunami while fishing and her mother-in-law passed away from a stroke shortly after, unable to cope with the loss. Juliet was only two months pregnant at the time, left alone with her son.

Sandy couldn't help but think of herself. She might end up like Juliet, raising her child alone in this remote place. The thought made her inexplicably sad.

"Dr. Hernandez, it hurts," Juliet moaned as another contraction started.

Sandy snapped back to reality and quickly checked her. She advised, "Don't worry. The cervix has dilated another centimeter. Breathe in."

Time passed quickly. Finally, around 3 PM, a loud cry filled the room as Juliet gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Juliet smiled weakly, as if she had completed a mission, and closed her eyes. Sandy held the baby, feeling a great sense of accomplishment since it was her first time delivering a baby.

"Juliet, look, it's a baby girl," Sandy said.

Juliet, exhausted, barely opened her eyes and smiled. She joked, "She's not very pretty."

Sandy chuckled, and said, "She'll grow up to be beautiful."

"Yes, just like Landon when he was born," Juliet said before falling asleep from exhaustion.

Sandy cleaned the baby and wrapped her up, placing her next to Juliet. She felt dizzy and swayed slightly.

"Cora..." Zephyr, who had been assisting quietly, quickly supported her, refraining from calling her "Cora" as she had forbidden it.

She was Sandy now, but he couldn't bring himself to call her that. He wanted her to remain the Cora in his heart.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"I'm fine," Sandy said, steadying herself and trying to pull away from Zephyr's grip.

But Zephyr held her tightly, his eyes filled with concern. Without saying anything, he firmly guided Sandy to the living room and sat her down.

Landon, still waiting in the living room, rushed over. He inquired, "Dr. Hernandez, Dr. Wright, is my mom okay?"

Sandy smiled, and replied, "She's fine. She gave you a baby sister and is now resting."

Landon's eyes lit up, and asked, "Can I go see my mom and sister?"

"Of course," Sandy replied, and Landon ran into the room.

Zephyr brought Sandy a glass of water. He suggested, "Have some water first."

From morning until afternoon, Sandy hadn't had time for lunch, only eating a few crackers that Zephyr had insisted she consume.

Now that the tension had eased, she felt both tired and hungry. She didn't refuse, drinking half the glass in one go, feeling slightly better.

"Thank you," Sandy said tiredly, smiling at Zephyr.

Zephyr took the glass from her and mentioned, "The neighbor brought some food, and it's heating up. I'll get it for you."

As he turned away, Sandy hesitated, unsure of what to say. She hadn't expected Zephyr to find her so quickly after she left.

Despite her repeated attempts to make him leave, he had stayed. She couldn't understand why he insisted on being there.

Sandy sighed, too tired to think, and leaned back in the chair, dozing off. Just then, she heard a commotion at the door and someone entering.

A voice called out to her, "Sandy."

Sandy's eyelashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes to see Nora approaching excitedly, followed by two bodyguards in black.

Sandy's chest heaved, and her eyes filled with warmth. The sense of relief and excitement at seeing a family member was indescribable.

She stood up and called out, "Nora."

"Sandy, it's really you!" Nora rushed over and hugged her tightly, her eyes moist.

Sandy closed her eyes and hugged her back, letting her tears soak through her veil.

Zephyr, carrying the food from the kitchen, saw the two women hugging and crying. His grip tightened, and he paused. Nora had found them. He wondered if Cora would leave with Nora now. Would his dream of a beautiful life be put on hold?

Zephyr's eyes darkened with sadness. He sighed and slowly walked over.

"Dr. Hamilton," he called.

Nora sniffled and released Sandy, acknowledging him, "Dr. Wright, you're here too."

Zephyr smiled and set the food down. He offered, "Have you had dinner? Would you like to join us? It's a bit remote here, and the only other person is a new mother, so we can't offer much hospitality."

"No, I'm not hungry," Nora replied.

Zephyr glanced at Sandy, and suggested, "Dr. Hernandez, you should sit down and eat something."

He didn't call her "Cora," using "Dr. Hernandez" instead.

"Sandy, did you just help deliver a baby?" Nora quickly helped Sandy to a chair.

"Yes," Sandy answered.

"Then you must be exhausted. Eat something," Nora said, concerned.

Sandy was indeed hungry. For her baby's health, she needed to eat. She instinctively reached to remove her veil but paused, glancing at Nora.
