Chapter 359 A Demand for Explanation

Nicholas, the head of the Woodhouse family, forced his way through the throng of people. His eyes were bloodshot, a clear sign of his anger. He bellowed, "Who dares to take responsibility for my grandson's injuries? Who's the owner of the mad dog that tore his tendons? I demand justice!"Aaron, a bystander, answered, "Uncle Nicholas, the dog belongs to the young master of the Turner family.""The Turner family, huh!" Nicholas spun around, his gaze sweeping over the crowd as he demanded, "Where is Ken? Is he present?"Ken Turner, the eldest son of the Turner family, emerged from the crowd, a puzzled look on his face. "Mr. Woodhouse, is there a problem?"Nicholas pointed an accusing finger at the dog, his voice seething with rage. "Ken, is this your family's dog?"Ken was aware that a dog had bitten the Woodhouse's young master, but he hadn't imagined it was his family's dog. He looked at the Alaskan dog, restrained by the servants, and his face drained of color. "Yes, this dog is my son's," he admitted, remembering how he had gifted it to his son a few years ago. His son adored the dog and took it everywhere with him. But how had it ended up inside the banquet hall, and why had it attacked the Woodhouse's young master?"Ken, why did your son bring a mad dog here to bite people? I demand an explanation!" Nicholas roared.Ken furrowed his brows, replying, "Mr. Woodhouse, could there be a misunderstanding? This dog is usually gentle and has always been my son's companion. It wouldn't just bite someone."Upon hearing this, Howard interjected, "Ken, while it's true that this dog is usually gentle, someone laced its food with hallucinogens, causing it to go mad."Ken's brows furrowed deeper as he digested this information. Nicholas, however, was not done. "Who did this? Ken, where is your son?"Ken looked at Nicholas, asking, "Mr. Woodhouse, what are you implying?"Nicholas retorted, "Ken, this dog is your son's pet, and given the severity of the incident, shouldn't you question him about the situation?"Ken's face darkened, and he turned to a servant, asking, "Where is Aiden?"The servant spotted Aiden hiding in the crowd, watching the commotion. "Mr. Aiden, come here quickly," he called out.Aiden, feeling no guilt but only regret that his dog hadn't managed to bite those three brats, sneered and walked forward. "Dad," he greeted.Ken glanced at him, asking, "Tell me, how did your dog end up here?""I had someone bring it in," Aiden replied."You brought the dog in, but why didn't you take good care of it? Someone spiked its food with hallucinogens!" Ken scolded.Aiden's gaze flickered, but he remained silent. The situation had spiraled out of control, and he wasn't foolish enough to admit that he had laced the dog's food with hallucinogens.Aaron, who had been observing the situation, narrowed his eyes at Aiden's evasive gaze. He had noticed Aiden's conflict with the three children the previous day. Had Aiden spiked the dog's food himself? Was his intention to have the dog injure those children? Aaron's face darkened at the thought."Uncle Nicholas, we must investigate this matter thoroughly and find out who did such a crazy thing," Aaron suggested.Nicholas didn't need to be told; he was determined to uncover the truth. After all, the injured party was his beloved grandson. "Yes, the truth must come to light today. If we can't find out what happened, no one present here will be able to leave!" he declared. His words sent a ripple of murmurs through the crowd.

"Who would do such a crazy thing as to spike the dog food?"

"Exactly! Normal people wouldn't have such things on hand."

"Right! This mad dog belongs to the Turner family, so did Aiden bring the hallucinogens too?"

"That's possible! After all, the Turner family is in the pharmaceutical import and export business. They may have access to certain substances more easily than ordinary people."The crowd's speculation pointed increasingly towards the Turner family. Ken's face darkened, and he shouted, "Enough! I want to see who dares to slander the Turner family again!"Without any evidence and seeing Ken's anger, the crowd fell silent, fearing they might offend him.

Aaron parted his lips, his voice steady as he addressed Ken. "Ken, there may be some truth to the whispers. Could it be that your son laced the dog food with hallucinogens, hoping the dog would attack those three children? After all, they had a minor disagreement just yesterday, didn't they?"At this, Ken's expression hardened further."Mr. Gordon, please don't make accusations without concrete proof!" he retorted. Before Aaron could respond, Nicholas interjected heatedly. "Ken, your son was the one who brought the dog here. It should have been under the care of a dedicated servant. It would have been challenging for anyone else to approach it. Could it really be your son's doing? I warn you, if anything happens to my grandson, the Woodhouse family will not let your family off the hook!"Ken's eyes flickered towards his son upon hearing Nicholas's words. He had already contemplated this possibility. His son had been slighted the previous day, and today he encountered those he had a disagreement with. It was only natural he would seek retribution. However, admitting it was out of the question."Aiden, who gave you permission to bring the dog here? If you brought it, why didn't you ensure it was properly supervised? You've allowed someone to exploit the situation!" By 'someone', he was clearly referring to Aaron.Aaron cast a sideways glance at Aiden, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Uncle Hamilton, I suggest you order a search of the guests. There should still be traces of the hallucinogens, left by the instigator."Aiden's hand instinctively darted to his pocket at Aaron's words. Being young, the mention of a search startled him, causing his eyes to dart nervously around. Aaron had deliberately provoked this reaction. The guests in attendance were not ordinary people, and it was inappropriate to subject them to a search. Aaron merely wanted to gauge Aiden's response.Noting Aiden's guilty expression, Aaron strode over to him, seizing his arm and beginning to pat him down.Aiden protested loudly, "What are you doing? Let go of me!"Ken was taken aback, his anger flaring. "Aaron, you dare lay a hand on my son? You'll pay for this!"Aaron remained unfazed, his hand closing around a small bottle concealed in Aiden's clothing."And what might this be?" he asked, his gaze never leaving Aiden's face.Aiden's eyes flickered guiltily, and he remained silent. The surrounding guests erupted into hushed whispers."Could it really be the young master of the Turner family causing all this trouble?" "Isn't it obvious? I knew it was the Turners all along.""Why would he do such a thing?""Just as Mr. Gordon suggested, it was a petty squabble between children. Aiden wanted to teach those three a lesson, but he didn't expect the rabid dog to attack the Woodhouse heir.""Tsk, Aiden is as ruthless as his father.""Indeed, the young master of the Woodhouse family is truly unfortunate. His tendons were bitten off."The room buzzed with speculation and murmurs, the tension palpable.
