Chapter 858 Envying Emmeline

The two exchanged a smile, and the air was filled with a long-lost affection.

Hugo brought Aisha her favorite food, a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

Aisha glanced at Hugo, a trace of a smile in her eyes, and continued feeding Millie, talking to her as she did.

For a moment, the table was filled with laughter and joy.

Opposite them, Jasmine watched while absentmindedly eating her food.

Hugo and Aisha's relationship had suddenly improved!

If Nora cured Hugo's illness, they would have their own child, and Hugo and Aisha's relationship would get even better.

Then Jasmine would have no hope.

Nora said that Hugo had to abstain during his treatment, so Hugo definitely wouldn't have sex with her anymore.

She wouldn't even be able to be his mistress in the future.

She would only be Millie's nanny.

No, this wasn't the life she wanted!

Jasmine lowered her head, eating her food, feeling desolate inside.

Suddenly, there was more fish in her bowl, and it was deboned.

Jasmine was startled and looked up to see James just retracting his fork.

He had given her the fish!

And he had removed the bones!

Jasmine's heart inexplicably fluttered.

All along, she had been the one serving Hugo.

Today, James had taken care of her several times.

Was James interested in her because of her face?

After the meal, Hugo went to the study to work.

Aisha played games with Millie and the servants.

Jasmine and James stood aside, watching.

James was tall and stood straight.

Unlike the scholarly Hugo, Jasmine found James particularly manly.

Standing next to James made her feel both pressured and safe.

Jasmine swallowed and asked softly, "Will you stay here and help me take care of Millie?"

James turned his head slightly to glance at her, then looked away.

"I won't stay here forever."

Jasmine paused and asked, "When will you leave?"

Hearing that he wouldn't stay here forever made her feel a bit uneasy.

"Not sure."

James paused and continued, "But for the time I'm here, I'll help you take care of Millie."

He glanced at her again, his gaze deep, as if he saw his beloved Emmeline.

James's gaze was too intense, making Jasmine uncomfortable.

She twisted her fingers and asked, "Are you treating me as a substitute for Emmeline?"

James's deep gaze paused, and then he looked away, pursing his lips without speaking.

He seemed to be enveloped in a sense of melancholy.

Jasmine bit her lip. James's silence confirmed it.

She suddenly felt a bit envious of Emmeline.

Emmeline had already left this world, yet James still loved her deeply.

Such love, devoid of ulterior motives, was pure and admirable, evoking envy in others.

When would she, Jasmine, also have such a memorable love?

At the hotel, after Aaron and Nora were done, he carried Nora to wash up.

Nora, drowsy, let Aaron take care of her.

After washing up, Aaron carried her to the bed and then called Frederick to bring some food.

Soon, Frederick brought the food.

"Honey, get up and have some dinner before you sleep."

Aaron walked to the bed, gently kissed Nora's forehead, and called softly.

Nora, drowsy, didn't want to move, but she was indeed hungry.

She opened her eyes, glared at Aaron, and didn't want to speak.

Aaron understood, chuckled, kissed her lips, and then scooped her up.

"Honey, don't move; let me feed you, okay?"

Nora instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck and said, "Feed me, only to tease me again?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow and nodded, "I didn't think of that, but you reminded me!"

Nora pretended to be angry and slapped Aaron's head.

"No! I'm exhausted. I won't eat, I'll starve!"

Nora rarely showed such a childish side, and Aaron's eyes were full of laughter. He carried her to the dining table and coaxed, "Be good, eat first, then you can punish me as you want."

Nora was speechless.

She didn't want to eat; she wanted to dump the food on Aaron's head.

"Honey, open your mouth."

Aaron sat next to Nora, served her a bowl of soup, and wanted to feed her.

"Enough, you eat yourself."

Nora glared at him, took the soup bowl, and drank several big gulps.

Aaron chuckled, full of affection, and said, "Drink slowly; I'm not in a hurry."

Nora put down the soup bowl and asked, "What are you not in a hurry for?"

Aaron took a napkin and wiped the soup from her mouth.

"Not in a hurry to wait for you to punish me."

Nora rolled her eyes at him, ignored him, and started eating.

Aaron's eyes were full of laughter, asking, "Do you want more soup?"

Nora didn't respond.

Aaron gave her some vegetables and asked, "Do you like the food here?"

Nora still didn't respond.

Aaron asked several questions in a row, and Nora kept ignoring him.

Aaron's eyes were filled with more laughter.

"I don't like the food here, and I guess you don't either. I'll have Frederick get something else."

Hearing this, Nora finally spoke, "Can you eat quietly and stop nagging?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow and said, "Willing to talk to me now?"

Nora rolled her eyes at him, ignored him, and continued eating.

Aaron chuckled, stopped teasing her, and ate elegantly.

Soon, they finished eating.

Aaron asked, "Do you want me to carry you to bed?"

Nora touched her full stomach and said, "I'm not a disabled person."

Aaron smiled, carried her to the sofa, and then brought her a glass of juice.

Nora drank the delicious juice and thought of something.

"Aaron, didn't you say you were going to call Noe?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow, saying, "Honey, we are so in sync. I was just about to call. But it's probably not even six in the morning there. I wonder if Noe is awake."

Nora said, "Then call later."

"No worries, Noe gets paid as an executive assistant but does nothing all day. I'm losing out."

Nora glanced at him and couldn't help but say, "Capitalist."

Aaron chuckled. "Honey, don't forget all the money I make goes to you."

Nora said, "I don't need it."

Aaron added, "Protest denied!"

Nora was speechless.

Aaron dialed Noe's number.

Nora asked him to put it on speaker.

Soon, the call connected, and Noe's voice came through.

"Mr. Gordon?"

"Still dreaming?"

"Yes, I was just dreaming of holding a beauty, and you interrupted it."

Noe, probably just waking up, spoke without thinking and dared to complain to Aaron.

Aaron raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you want me to send you a real beauty?"
