Chapter 716 Do You Find Her Openness with Other Men Appealing?
At dusk, Whispering Willow Restaurant.
Howard was striding towards the kitchen.
Last night, Evella temporarily taught him a few dishes. He took notes, just to review before showcasing his cooking skills tomorrow night.
He would not give Richard and Joseph the chance to look down on him.
"Dr. Hamilton?"
Someone called him from the right.
Howard paused his steps, turned his head, and saw Rachel getting up from her seat by the window and walking gracefully towards him.
Howard politely nodded to her and greeted her.
"Miss Romero, are you here for dinner?"
"Yes, are you here for dinner too?" Rachel asked as she approached him.
"Yes."
Howard mumbled, looking a bit uneasy.
He didn't feel embarrassed about learning to cook, just a bit uncomfortable.
If the upper-class people of Lindwood City knew he was learning to cook, they would probably be appalled.
At this moment, Samuel, who had just finished introducing the dishes to a picky table of guests, saw Howard and hurried over.
"Mr. Howard is here. I have prepared all the ingredients for your cooking tonight."
Upon hearing this, Rachel was slightly stunned, finding it hard to believe.
"Dr. Hamilton, are you here to cook, not to dine?"
Howard cleared his throat. "Yes, I've been learning to cook recently."
Rachel stared at him, looking surprised.
"What? You are the second son of the Hamilton family, a renowned doctor, and you are actually learning to cook. Why? Is it for Evella?"
Since it had come to this, Howard was straightforward.
"Yes, Evella likes it. I want to learn a few signature dishes to make her happy."
Rachel looked at him steadily. "Dr. Hamilton, I really don't understand. Evella doesn't seem to maintain a certain distance with other men while she is in a relationship. Why are you so drawn to her? Do you find her openness with other men appealing? Is that what makes her so enticing, triggering a sense of conquest in you men?"
Upon hearing Rachel's words, Howard's face darkened slightly.
After a moment of silence, he said, "Miss Romero, please don't speculate randomly. It's not what you think. Richard is Evella's biological uncle."
Because this wasn't the first time Evella had been misunderstood.
Howard thought, now that the Bilian Group had been cleansed, even if Richard didn't publicly reveal Evella's true identity, at least he didn't want those around him to misunderstand Evella.
So Howard decided to tell the truth.
Rachel widened her eyes in astonishment. "What did you say? Richard is Evella's biological uncle?"
Howard said, "Miss Romero, you are from a wealthy family. You should know that many things cannot be judged by appearances alone because what you see may not be true."
Rachel suppressed her surprise. "Since they have this kind of relationship, why doesn't Richard announce it to everyone?"
Howard said, "I don't want to go into specifics, and please don't spread it around, Miss Romero. I'm busy, so I'll be going now."
As he finished speaking, he was about to leave.
"Wait." Rachel quickly stopped him.
Howard paused his steps again. "Is there anything else?"
Rachel looked at him, her expression slightly more relaxed than before.
"I'm Sorry, Dr. Hamilton. If my ignorance has made you angry, I apologize to you. I shouldn't slander Evella and Richard."
Upon hearing this, Howard's expression also softened a bit.
"Miss Romero, you are an outstanding woman. I hope you can find your happiness."
Hopefully, she wouldn't keep staring at him.
Rachel smiled. "Dr. Hamilton, actually, I don't really like you, but I think we are suitable for each other. You are someone I can consider marrying."
"Besides, you have a great appearance and temperament, and I think we match well. But since you have someone in your heart, I won't keep pestering you as I have my pride and dignity. So can we be friends from now on?"
Rachel's gaze was sincere, elegant, and composed.
Howard nodded. "Sure."
It was even better that Rachel thought this way.
"Is there anything else?" Howard said.
Rachel looked curious. "Dr. Hamilton, are you really learning to cook for her?"
Since it was already known, Howard no longer felt uncomfortable at this moment.
"Yes, I don't think cooking is difficult. It's simpler than performing surgery."
Rachel glanced at Howard's slender fingers and noticed a few wounds on the back of his hand.
Clearly burns.
She teased with a smile. "By the way, Dr. Hamilton, I remember you are a genius in the medical field. You shouldn't have injured your hands when you first started performing surgery, right?"
Howard glanced at his fingers, a hint of discomfort passing through his eyes.
"Crossing over to a different field, there is always an adaptation process."
Rachel laughed. "So, Dr. Hamilton, how's your cooking lessons going?"
Howard didn't want to be looked down upon by Rachel, so he nodded. "Not bad."
Rachel looked at him teasingly. "You seem quite confident. How about I offer myself as a willing guinea pig to put your culinary prowess to the test?"
Howard was taken aback. "Are you going to evaluate my cooking?"
Rachel smiled. "Dr. Hamilton, I am very picky. If there's anything wrong with your cooking, I can point it out in time. You won't embarrass yourself in front of your girlfriend and lower your impression."
Howard's eyes flickered slightly, thinking it was a good idea.
Although Samuel could guide him, he could tell that Samuel still held him in awe.
Even if his cooking was bad, Samuel wouldn't speak bluntly.
It might be better to let Rachel taste it.
Firstly, Rachel wouldn't hesitate to speak her mind.
Secondly, Rachel was a heiress of a wealthy family and, indeed, had a picky palate.
If Rachel said the food was fine, then it must be fine.
With this in mind, Howard readily agreed. "If you don't mind."
Rachel said, "No problem, my friend hasn't arrived, so even if your cooking is bad, it will only be embarrassing in front of me."
Howard smiled, and after talking with Rachel, their interaction became much more relaxed.
"Please wait a moment." Howard gestured for Rachel to sit, then headed to the kitchen.
Not far away, Joseph was walking towards the inside while answering the phone.
His gaze fell on Howard's back. He squinted, a glint of light flashing behind his lenses.
"I've arrived. I'll wait for you in the private room."
After hanging up the phone, he glanced at Rachel sitting by the window, then entered the private room.
In the kitchen, Howard put on an apron and prepared a few dishes following Evella's instructions, having Samuel serve them to Rachel for tasting.
After finishing the last dish, he took off the apron and walked out, sitting across from Rachel.
"Miss Romero, how about it?"
Rachel had tasted all the dishes Howard made and was now sipping the soup delicately.
Instead of answering, she took out a tissue and wiped her mouth in a leisurely manner.
