Chapter 406 Sometimes Like a Clingy Little Puppy

In the evening, Nora received a message from Evella asking her to go out for dinner. Nora thought this was Flynt's invitation, so she replied.

Nora: [Okay. Is Sandy going?]

Evella: [Sandy said she isn't going. It's inconvenient for her because she's pregnant.]

That was probably not the case; perhaps Sandy was waiting for her elder brother at home for dinner together.

Or maybe Emma didn't want her to go out.

Thinking of Emma, Nora shook her head slightly. With such a bad temper, she wondered if Sandy was being treated unfairly at home.

She changed her clothes and prepared to go out. Downstairs, the two elderly people had just finished a game of chess and were arguing about who was right and wrong.

They were arguing fiercely, making Nora laugh as she greeted them.

"Grandpa."

Seeing Nora coming down, the two old people somewhat regained their elders' authority. "Nora, are you going out?" Mr. Hamilton Senior asked with a smile.

She replied, "Yes, I made plans with Evella for dinner."

"Go ahead. Don't worry about the kids; I'll take care of them," he waved his hand, signaling her to leave quickly.

Nora smiled and felt warm in her heart. She had no role to play since the two old men were now competing to take care of the kids, so they went to school and returned every day without her worrying.

"I wonder who's really taking care of who! Mr. Hamilton Senior, did you forget that a few days ago you almost fell and scared the children?" Jacob glanced at him and sarcastically said.

Mr. Hamilton Senior choked, unease flickering in his eyes. He immediately justified himself, "How is that my fault? Isn't it because the lawn here isn't well maintained?"

Jacob chuckled, "I walk here every day; how come I'm fine? Not to mention, you have weak bones."

Mr. Hamilton Senior glared at him, "Jacob, don't argue with me! I put the grandchildren under Aaron’s care because I'm generous! Be careful, or I'll take them away immediately!"

"Are you daring me?"

"What do you think?"

The two men were on edge, as if they were about to fight.

Nora quickly intervened, "Alright, Grandfathers, calm down. You both need to relax, or your blood pressure will rise and the children will worry."

When she mentioned the children, the two old troublemakers finally quieted down.

She was amused, "Well, I'll leave you two to yourselves."

"Alright, tell Frederick to drive slowly."

"Okay."

She got in Frederick's car and left the villa area.

On the way, she got a call from Aaron.

"Where are you?"

"I'm getting ready to have dinner outside."

"Dinner outside? With who and where?"

He really investigated everything.

Nora laughed, "I'm having dinner with Evella and Flynt at a Japanese restaurant called Hean House."

Upon hearing this, Aaron's tone softened a little.

"Them again? They're dating, what are you doing there as a third wheel?"

"Didn't I help keep an eye on Evella last time? Today, I'll help her gauge whether Flynt deserves her."

Hearing this, Aaron said, "Don't worry too much about other people's matters. Find more time to worry about your boyfriend, instead."

She chuckled, "You're so shrewd; what else do you want me to worry about?"

Aaron said, "Nora, are you praising or mocking me? Should I just become a bit weaker, so you can constantly worry about me and keep me on a tight leash?"

She was speechless, "How boring. Is there anything else? If not, I'm hanging up!"

"There is something."

"What?"

There was a kiss sound from the other line.

"I just need one more kiss."

She blushed slightly, her heart inexplicably fluttering.

That man, who was usually a CEO, could sometimes be like an affectionate little puppy.

He almost melted her heart.

He must've often observed his daughter and Millie, secretly learning their way of acting spoiled.

After hanging up, Nora was in a good mood all the way.

The car quickly arrived at the destination.

Entering the restaurant, she followed the waiter's guidance and went into a private room.

It was a Japanese restaurant decorated with brick-red wood.

With a typical kneeling-style tatami, the entire place was decorated with an artistic vibe.

"Nora, you're here."

Evella saw Nora, standing up with a smile and greeting her.

Meanwhile, Flynt on the opposite side also greeted Nora.

She sat across from Evella and glanced at him.

He was still dressed casually, makeup on his face, exuding a handsome and calm demeanor.

Thinking about that girl named Ava, Nora's eyes lowered slightly.

She wondered if her older brother found anything while investigating Flynt.

"Nora, have some coffee."

He took the water kettle and poured a cup of coffee for her.

"Thank you."

She took the cup and thanked him.

Inadvertently, she noticed his eyes were slightly red.

She was surprised and observed his face closely, a sudden thump in her heart.

Something wasn't quite right with the redness of his eye sockets.

"I'll go to the restroom first."

He smiled at her and got up to leave the room.

As he stood up, a smell filled the air around.

His cologne scent was strong, but it couldn't cover up a faint odor of unwashed socks.

Nora furrowed her eyebrows, lost in thought.

Being a doctor, she had once treated a patient who took drugs.

That patient had symptoms similar to Flynt's; red eyes and a foul smell.

Could he be...

"Nora, what are you thinking about?"

Evella noticed her serious expression and sat silently, curiously waving her hand in front of her eyes.

Nora glanced at her and quickly reached out to diagnose Evella.

She didn't want to jump to conclusions, but it was better to be cautious and prevent harm.

Could Flynt be a drug addict, and did he influence Evella?

Fortunately, there was nothing unusual about Evella's pulse.

Nora finished taking her pulse and sighed in relief.

She admitted she was quite sensitive, hoping she was just overthinking.

"Nora, what's going on with you?"

Nora's actions made Evella nervous as well.

Nora hesitated, wondering if she should tell Evella about what she saw at the hospital in the morning.

However, she had no evidence to prove Ava was pregnant with Flynt's child.

Moreover, her older brother had yet to find any useful information about Flynt.

What if it was just a misunderstanding? That'd be embarrassing.

"It's nothing. Your complexion seems a bit off; it's just my professional habit to take your pulse." Nora spoke vaguely.

Evella blinked and touched her face.

"Really? I've been eating well and sleeping soundly lately, though."

Nora chuckled, "Yes, there are signs of weight gain."

Women were most concerned about being called fat.

Evella glanced at her and pouted, "I'm still young; a bit of baby fat is fine."

Nora nodded with a smile. "Yes, yes, another 22 pounds wouldn't be a problem."

"But that's not good. The saying goes that a good woman shouldn't weigh over 220 pounds. I'm 5 feet 4 inches tall, so I definitely can't weigh over that. Gaining ten pounds is okay, but if it's twenty, then I wouldn't be a good woman," Evella said, pinching her waist fat.
