Chapter 641 Lead the Way

"What should we do? Isn't Elara sending them to their deaths?" Noe said.

Seraphina replied, "Wolves fear fire. As long as there is fire, they won't dare to come close."

Noe furrowed his brows and said, "But they don't have a source of fire on them."

After some thought, he continued, "However, Aaron is capable. He should be able to make a fire to drive away the wild wolves."

Seraphina fell silent for a moment and said, "Actually, the wolves in the back mountains are not that scary."

Noe looked at her and said, "If wolves aren't scary, then what is?"

"Miasma," Seraphina replied.

Miasma was the poisonous gas generated after the decay of animals and plants in the forest.

If a person inhaled the poisonous gas, it was over for them.

Noe's expression darkened, and he said, "Is Elara really that malicious? Does she not want them to come out of the back mountains alive?"

Seraphina spoke gently, "Ms. Smith is a doctor. As long as she seals their acupoints with silver needles, they can make it through."

It was fortunate that Nora knew acupuncture.

Noe felt slightly relieved and said, "So, it shouldn't be a big problem."

Seraphina hesitated to speak, then stopped.

Noe looked at her, his eyelid twitching.

He added, "Don't tell me there's something even scarier than miasma in the back mountains."

Seraphina nodded with some regret, saying, "Apart from miasma, there is something else equally terrifying in the back mountains."

Noe felt an urge to strangle Seraphina.

He said, "What else is there? Can't you just say it all at once!"

He had never met a woman who could keep someone in suspense like this.

Seeing him getting impatient, Seraphina blinked her thick eyelashes and said, "It's an illusion. At the end of the forest, there is a river. Once they cross the bridge, they can leave the mountains."

"But no one knows what rare elements are at the bottom of the river. The river is shrouded in mist all year round, and if a person inhales a large amount of mist, they will experience hallucinations. These illusions can trigger the darkest desires in one's heart. When desires arise, even lovers may turn against each other."

Upon hearing this, Noe's expression subtly changed.

He said, "Elara is so malicious. She really wanted them to die there."

Seraphina glanced at Noe, a bit displeased, but her tone remained gentle. "Don't speak ill of Elara. This is a test for the two of them. If they truly love each other, nothing will happen."

Noe said, "You mentioned there are illusions. Who can guarantee that nothing will happen?"

Seraphina retorted, "Don't you believe that they truly love each other?"

Noe hesitated and said, "Please don't sow discord. I'm just worried about them. I don't think you understand who we are here. If anything happens to Mr. Gordon or Dr. Smith, you can expect retaliation."

This was not an exaggeration.

Given Aaron and Nora's status, if something were to happen to them, both the Gordon family and the Hamilton family would not let it go easily. Especially for the Hamilton family, Nora was the precious jewel that they reclaimed. If something were to happen to her, the Hamilton family would not tolerate it.

"Don't exaggerate." Seraphina's heart tightened slightly at Noe's words.

Noe said, "I'm not exaggerating. Just look at how quickly that elderly woman was saved just now, and how we managed to bring advanced medical supplies within an hour. You should understand our capabilities."

Seraphina naturally understood it. She also sensed that this group of people had significant backing.

If Aaron and Nora were to encounter trouble in the back mountains, it would be disastrous.

Noe looked at Seraphina and noticed the panic and conflict in her eyes.

He knew his words had an effect just now.

He added, "Is there any way to help Aaron and Nora safely leave the back mountains?"

Seraphina bit her lip, hesitated, and said, "Actually, there is a secret passage that can directly pass through the forest to the outskirts of the river. If we make some noise, disturb them a bit, maybe they will be fine."

Noe's eyes lit up; he said, "Then lead the way."

Seraphina was taken aback and asked, "Me?"

Noe said, "Since you've already betrayed your sister, you might as well go all the way."

Seraphina furrowed her brows, saying, "I haven't betrayed Elara."

"Alright, you're helping others, let's go." Noe didn't have time to argue with Seraphina and just wanted to get to the back mountains quickly, so he grabbed her and started walking.

"Don't drag me along." Seraphina glanced at Noe's fair and slender fingers, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Noe let go of her hand, a hint of surprise flickering in his eyes.

"You don't seem like someone from around here. The women here are very open-minded. Aren't you a native Lumirian?" Noe asked.

Seraphina adjusted the strands of hair near her ear, saying, "How could I not be a Lumirian?"

Noe observed her and said, "You don't look like Lumirian."

"Then what do I look like?"

"Like someone from our side."

"You're very gentle and sensible, nothing like Elara," Noe remarked.

Seraphina looked at him, blushing slightly at the praise. But she didn't forget to speak up for Elara, "Can you stop belittling Elara?"

Noe said, "Ok. I shouldn't do that to your face. Let's go."

Watching Noe's tall figure, Seraphina's lips curved slightly, and she quickly caught up with him.

As the sky darkened bit by bit, most of the people here had already returned home.

In the empty mountain wilderness, only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves on the sides of the road could be heard.

Seraphina looked up at Noe, who was half a head taller than her, and asked curiously, "You're Aaron's assistant, so what do you usually do?"

Noe glanced at Seraphina and said, "My relationship with Mr. Gordon is similar to yours with Elara. Whatever Mr. Gordon says, I do; I respect him."

Seraphina nodded, thinking of Aaron, then asked, "What kind of person is Aaron?"

Noe raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you like Mr. Gordon?"

Seraphina's eyes flickered; she lowered slightly, saying, "I don't know what 'like' means, but I think Aaron is quite handsome."

'Women are superficial,' Noe murmured in his mind.

Noe said, "Seraphina, Mr. Gordon has countless admirers. You don't have a chance."

Seraphina tucked the strands of hair that the breeze had blown into her ear, speaking softly, "I never said I want to pursue him. Can you tell me about the world outside?"

Noe, feeling bored, said, "Sure, what do you want to hear?"

Seraphina said, "Anything."

As the sky darkened, the stars in the sky twinkled, illuminating the earth.

Nora had already entered the back mountains with Aaron.

Smelling the cold scent of the surrounding vegetation, Nora asked with concern, "Aaron, can you hold on?"

She had already checked Aaron's pulse; his body was still weak, and the wound had not fully healed.

But fortunately, it wasn't a fatal wound, coupled with timely treatment; although his body was weak, it wasn't life-threatening.

"With you by my side, I'll be fine," Aaron said and embraced Nora's slender waist, inhaling the familiar sweet fragrance emanating from her, his expression gentle.

Nora smiled, and the two of them walked forward, arm in arm.

It was very quiet around them, with only the sound of their footsteps on the ground.

Now that she had found Aaron, Nora wanted to understand the whole story.

She asked, "Aaron, did Noe tell you that a man who looks exactly like you has appeared at home?"
