Chapter 1054 She Feels Guilty
Nora nodded to show she got it. Aaron, nearby, said, "The dorms are probably full now, right? I'll have someone clean up the house at River View Estate tomorrow. You can stay there."
River View Estate was one of their properties in Elmrest Springs. Samantha chose Elmrest Springs University’s music school over Lindwood University. She said she wanted to be independent and explore.
Though Aaron and Nora were a bit hesitant, they knew their kids were growing up and craving freedom. So, they let Samantha follow her path and supported her quietly.
"Thanks, Mom and Dad. Love you both so much." Samantha smiled, hugged them, and kissed their cheeks.
Nora pinched Samantha's cheek and teased, "If we had stopped you from applying to Elmrest Springs, would you still love us?"
Samantha linked arms with her and smiled. "You two aren't like other parents who are so controlling. I'm lucky to be your daughter."
Aaron and Nora were thrilled. Nora laughed, "Your sweet talk is getting better."
"Because she's feeling guilty," a male voice said from behind.
Samantha's smile froze. She turned to see Billy walking over with one hand in his pocket. She knew what he meant.
Samantha pouted, "Billy, what are you talking about?"
She thought, 'How annoying! Billy is getting more and more unlikeable!' She decided Millie would have to teach him a lesson.
"Billy, you said Samantha is feeling guilty. Guilty about what?" Nora asked.
Billy glanced at Samantha and bluntly said, "She likes someone. She's sweet-talking you so you won't dislike the guy."
Aaron and Nora were surprised. Nora asked, "Samantha, do you really like someone?"
Aaron squinted. "Who is he? What does he do? Is he a student or working?"
Samantha rubbed her forehead, knowing this would happen. Aaron and Billy were definitely father and son, asking the same questions.
"No, I don't like anyone. Billy's just guessing." Samantha denied it, glaring at Billy. "Billy, you're so annoying. Just wait until you get what's coming to you!" She turned to Aaron and Nora, "Mom, Dad, I'm heading back now."
Watching Samantha leave quickly, Aaron frowned. He asked Billy, "Billy, do you know who Samantha likes?"
Billy, still thinking about Samantha's comment, replied, "No, she won't say."
He was already heartbroken; a little more wouldn't matter.
"Millie, do you know if Samantha likes someone?" Nora asked Millie, who was walking over.
Millie's eyes flickered, and she shook her head. "I don't know." She had a secret with Samantha and had to keep it.
"We need to have Alex's guys look into this," Aaron said.
Millie's heart skipped a beat. "Dad, that's not a good idea. If Samantha finds out, she'll be upset."
Nora also disagreed, "Yes, honey, you shouldn't always investigate the kids. They're grown up and want their own space."
Aaron frowned. "But what if the guy is a fraud?"
Nora smiled. "I trust Samantha's judgment."
Aaron disagreed, "People can be deceitful, and Samantha has been sheltered by us, always thinking the world is wonderful. What if she meets a con artist?"
Nora wanted to say that with Aaron's genes, Samantha wouldn't be easily fooled, but she understood Aaron's fatherly concern. His daughter was about to be taken away by another man, and he wasn't thrilled.
"Alright, if you're worried, why not assign a bodyguard to protect her?"
Aaron nodded at Nora's suggestion. "Let's have Frederick find someone reliable to protect Samantha."
Frederick, in his forties and still unmarried, had no interest in marriage. Aaron had him open a martial arts school to run a business and train bodyguards for the Gordon Family.
The decision was made. After packing, Samantha set off for Elmrest Springs the next day. Aaron sent a driver to take her, and the bodyguard protected her secretly.
Upon arriving, Samantha went straight to the school. The driver dropped her off at the gate and then took her luggage to Peaceful View Garden.
In a music classroom, Samantha met her mentor, Derek Bennett, along with Wesley and his assistant, Elijah Mitchell.
"Hello, Mr. Bennett," Samantha greeted.
"Samantha, you're here! Come over, let me introduce you," Derek, nearly fifty and highly respected, said warmly.
"This is the famous young singer Wesley Knight. And this is my top student, Samantha Gordon."
Samantha, with bright eyes, said to Wesley, "Hello, Wesley. I've heard so much about you. It's an honor to meet my idol!"
She acted formally, as if meeting Wesley for the first time.
Wesley, with his handsome features, saw through her act and played along. "Hello, Miss Gordon. You're very beautiful. May I call you Samantha?"
"Of course!" Samantha smiled and said to Derek, "Wesley complimented me. I'm so happy."
Derek laughed. "You two can chat! Wesley, let Samantha try accompanying you. If you're not satisfied, I'll find another accompanist."
Wesley glanced at Samantha and smiled. "No need to try. I'm sure I'll be satisfied."
Samantha lightly coughed and blinked, signaling Wesley to keep quiet.
Wesley's rise to fame wasn't easy. The company built his image as a hardworking musical genius.
The official story was that Wesley was discovered by a producer from Gordon Group Media while singing on the streets, leading to his success.
Samantha didn't want others to know she introduced Wesley. As the daughter of the Gordon Group, and with Wesley's humble background, it would attract jealousy and speculation.
People might think a rich girl fancied a poor boy, leading to baseless rumors. This would harm Wesley's career and ruin his carefully crafted image.
