Chapter 76 Dating Two Guys at Once?
Nora's heart fluttered as she listened to Noe's words.
Was she really that important to Aaron?
She brushed off Noe's praise.
"Mr. Gordon's anxious to get better; that's why he's so concerned about me. If I got sick, then who would be there to treat him, right?"
Nora found this reasoning sound.
"Okay, I'm heading in. Remember the note I gave you."
"Sure."
Noe nodded slightly, watching Nora enter the hospital.
Was the CEO's concern just about his recovery?
Maybe not.
Not far off, Dr. Luna snapped her phone shut and let out a mocking laugh.
That luxury car again!
Was Nora planning to date two guys at once?
Nora entered the research office, greeted a few early colleagues, and booted up her computer.
Howard had sent over yesterday's data summary to her email.
She had gone to bed early the night before due to not feeling well and hadn't submitted her data.
Quickly verifying the numbers, she integrated her data and sent it back to Howard.
Soon, Howard arrived.
He glanced at the screen, seeing the data Nora had sent, his expression unreadable.
"Alright, everyone, we've wrapped up the two-day data analysis. Now, we move on to case studies. I'll send the relevant cases to your emails shortly. Provide your treatment plans based on your judgments and submit them by the end of the day."
The research staff responded in unison.
Nora opened her email and clicked on the case study sent by Howard.
It was the file of a late-stage brain cancer patient.
Late stage usually meant end-of-life territory—plainly speaking, it was grim.
Most doctors considered such cases held little research value.
"Do we even need to draft a treatment plan? Whatever you do, the patient's on a one-way street to the end, right?"
"Yeah, and who'd dare operate? It'd tank their success stats."
"Exactly."
Several researchers whispered among themselves, feeling the case study was just a formality.
Nora, however, remained composed.
Two years ago, she had performed a similar brain cancer surgery.
The patient had been given less than two months to live by the attending physician. Desperate, the family had offered twenty million for any promising treatment, and she had taken on the surgery in her capacity as a master healer.
Today, that patient is still alive and well.
Sure, the recovery was an exception, not the rule, but surgery wasn't off the table.
Nora swiftly crafted a surgical plan on her computer.
Aaron furrowed his handsome brows as he finished the medicinal broth. "Noe, does this broth always taste this awful, or did you mess up some step?"
"I followed Nora's instructions to a tee," Noe replied hastily.
"No, something's off. It shouldn't taste this bad. You must've missed something with the heat," Aaron grumbled, his handsome face marred by displeasure. "Couldn't she just make it herself at home?"
Noe felt it was a bit unfair.
He had followed Nora's recipe to the letter. The CEO's discontent must really be about wanting Nora to be home with him, right?
"Call Lucas and set up a dinner meeting," Aaron suddenly said.
Noe paused, "Mr. Gordon, Nora specifically instructed me to ensure you rest today. You shouldn't be walking around."
"Don't worry, I'm just going to take care of a problem for her, not heading to the office," Aaron assured him. He had promised her to handle their divorce matters, after all!
At the hospital.
After completing the surgical plan and observing others still deep in thought, Nora got up to pour herself a glass of water. Checking the time, she realized it was nearing noon.
Recalling the surgery she and Jack performed the afternoon before, she decided to check on the patient's recovery.
Exiting her office, she made her way to the inpatient building. As she walked, she noticed the unusual glances from medical staff.
Initially, she brushed it off. But after stepping out of the elevator on the fifth floor and walking past the nurses' station, she overheard their gossip.
"Isn't that the doc they're gossiping about?"
"Yeah, she's quite the looker, huh?"
"If she weren't, would she have captivated those men?"
"How can such a flirtatious woman be involved in research? I hope her failures in research don’t bring disaster to our male doctors."
Nora's stride halted, and she turned back to the nurses' station.
"Are you talking about me?" she asked, her expression dark.
A nurse held out her phone, showing a video. "We're discussing the woman here."
Nora took the phone and watched. Someone had posted a blog on the hospital's intranet, sharing a video of Lucas pestering her the day before, and another of her and Noe together that morning.
The text read as follows:
"A heartbroken husband desperately pleads with his unfaithful wife to come back to him, even getting into a fight with one of her suitors. But this unfaithful wife isn't limited to one admirer. One day, she's cozying up to one, and the next day, she steps out of another's luxury car. I truly feel sorry for those suitors being fooled."
The blog post was sensational, and it quickly stirred a heated debate online.
The comments section buzzed with disapproval, branding her as an unfaithful spouse jumping from one affair to the next.
Nora frowned, wondering who could be so malicious as to upload the video online.
"Is that you in the blog post? With your reputation, what good could you possibly contribute to scientific research?"
"I bet your research is just a cover for chasing after men."
A few snickering nurses couldn't help but mock.
Nora's face grew cold.
Just as she was about to retort, a woman's haughty voice sounded from behind.
"It's because of gossipers like you that the world is such a mess."
At these words, Nora turned to see a patient slowly walking over.
She wore an oversized hospital gown and sported a short, neat hairstyle.
Carrying an air of detached elegance with a pair of bright, expressive eyes, it was Sue, the patient she was about to visit.
Was Sue standing up for her just now?
Nora offered her a gracious smile.
Sue returned the smile and glanced at the nurses.
Exchanging looks, one of the nurses, still indignant, said, "It's not that we love to gossip; it's just some people's actions are so shameful. Going after other men despite having a husband, shouldn't we talk about that?"
Hearing this, Sue gave a quick laugh, "What if I filmed a video of you two joking intimately together and claimed you were a couple? How would that make you feel?"
The nurse panicked. "That's not the case!"
"But what if someone deliberately slandered you? Misleading news abounds. I would advise you not to be too quick to take sides."
