Chapter 1077 There Were Women's Clothes at Home
"Hey, you want some juice or coffee?" Elijah asked, watching Samantha's face closely with a slight smirk.
"Water's good," Samantha snapped back to reality.
"Hang tight." Elijah, knowing the place like the back of his hand, headed to the kitchen and poured her a glass of water.
"Thanks."
"No biggie." Elijah handed over the glass, but then suddenly felt a wave of nausea and started gagging. She quickly covered her mouth and bolted to the bathroom.
Samantha was stunned, put down the glass, and got up to follow. Hearing the retching sounds from the bathroom, followed by the flush, she thought, 'What's up with Elijah? This sounds like pregnancy symptoms.'
Before long, the bathroom door creaked open. Elijah walked out, looking pale as a ghost.
"Elijah, what's going on? You feeling sick? Need to hit the hospital?" Samantha asked, worried.
"Nah, no need. My stomach's just been acting up these past few days. I'll be good after some meds." Elijah forced a smile.
'So it's just a stomach thing,' Samantha thought. "Then you should go rest."
"Alright, save my number. Hit me up if you need anything."
"Okay."
Elijah rattled off a string of numbers and then added, "Wesley hates being disturbed when he's sleeping, or he'll get all cranky. I'll wake him up for lunch."
Elijah's message was clear: Samantha shouldn't mess with his sleep.
Samantha felt a bit like she was being bossed around by the lady of the house. But considering Elijah's role as Wesley's assistant, she figured Elijah was just looking out for him. So she didn't think much of it. "Got it, you go rest."
"Okay." Elijah left, and the house suddenly got real quiet.
Samantha felt a bit bored and decided to snoop around.
There were a few men's clothes hanging on the balcony, probably Wesley's. Samantha walked over and touched them. The clothes were dry. With nothing else to do, she took them down.
When she got to a robe, Samantha paused. Although the robe was black, it looked like a women's style.
'A women's robe? Why's there a women's robe in Wesley's house? Whose is it?' Samantha frowned. 'Could Wesley have a girlfriend? These days, there are tons of stories about celebs secretly getting hitched and having kids. Could Wesley be one of them? I mean, I know how much women dig him.'
Samantha felt uneasy and couldn't help but overthink. She put down the clothes and wandered around. If a woman lived here, there'd be other signs besides clothes.
The living room was super tidy, nothing out of place. Samantha hesitated a bit and opened a guest room. The room was also spotless, no signs of anyone living there.
She bit her lip and walked to the wardrobe, opening it. Inside, she found several sets of women's clothes hanging.
Samantha's heart sank. Looking at the women's clothes, she thought, 'Could it be like I suspected, that Wesley has a girlfriend? Or even secretly married? He hasn't announced it to the public for his career. Then why does Wesley confess to me? Could he be a hypocrite?'
Samantha clenched her fingers, feeling the urge to storm into Wesley's bedroom and confront him, but she held back.
She guessed maybe it was a misunderstanding, just like when Alfred showed up at her place. Even though nothing happened between her and Alfred, Wesley misunderstood. She decided not to act impulsively and wait for Wesley to explain when he woke up.
Samantha stopped snooping and plopped back down in the living room, trying to chill.
After a bit, Elijah came back. "Samantha, you're still here. You didn't wake Wesley, did you?"
The way she said it made it seem like Elijah was the queen of the castle, and Samantha was just some unwanted guest.
Samantha swallowed her irritation. "Nope."
"Hang on, I'll go wake him up," Elijah said.
Samantha just sat there on the sofa, not saying a word.
Elijah opened the master bedroom door. Soon, their voices drifted out.
Elijah said, "Wesley, get up, it's time to eat."
Wesley groaned, "Leave me alone, I wanna sleep."
"Come on, get up, eat something, then you can crash again. It's not good for you to skip meals." Elijah's voice was all sweet and coaxing.
"I said I don't wanna eat. Why are you so annoying?"
"Be a good boy, get up now, or your stomach's gonna hate you."
Samantha felt a wave of disgust listening to Elijah's sugary tone and Wesley's grumbling.
'Do assistants really wake up their bosses like this? Elijah sounds more like a girlfriend than an assistant.' Samantha suddenly had a thought, 'Could those clothes belong to Elijah?'
As she was lost in thought, Elijah came out. "Samantha, hang tight, Wesley's getting up."
Samantha looked straight at Elijah and cut to the chase. "Elijah, I helped Wesley tidy up some clothes and found a few women's outfits. Are they yours?"
Elijah's eyes flickered, and she smiled. "Yeah, they're mine. Don't get the wrong idea, my washing machine broke a couple of days ago, so I brought my clothes here to wash."
Hearing this, Samantha felt a mix of relief and confusion. She thought the clothes belonged to some other woman, but they were actually Elijah's.
If they were Elijah's, she could kinda get it. After all, Elijah was Wesley's assistant, so it made sense for them to share stuff. But it still felt weird.
"Samantha, why are you here?" Wesley, with his hair all messy, came out of the bedroom, surprised to see Samantha in his house.
"I called and texted you, but you didn't respond, so I came over." Samantha kept her cool.
Wesley was fully awake now and remembered their spat from the morning. "Hang on, I'll go freshen up."
"Okay." Samantha sat on the sofa, waiting quietly.
Elijah watched her calm demeanor, her eyes flickering. She thought, 'Samantha is pretty composed. Seeing women's clothes in Wesley's house and hearing me wake him up, she didn't even flinch. Does she really believe I'm just an assistant?'
Wesley quickly finished freshening up and sat down next to Samantha.
"Samantha, when did you get here?" Wesley's tone was gentle, and he was now fully clear-headed.
Waking up to see the woman he liked in his house made Wesley happy. Although he was still miffed about Alfred being at her place last night, he couldn't break up with Samantha. He really liked her.
"I came early," Samantha said.
"Why didn't you wake me?" Wesley asked.
"You were sleeping, and Elijah said you get cranky when woken up, so I didn't disturb you."
Hearing this, Wesley shot an annoyed look at Elijah. "Later, you should record your fingerprint. From now on, come over whenever you want, no matter what anyone says. If I'm sleeping, just wake me up."
Upon hearing this, Elijah clenched her fingers and thought, 'Does their argument just blow over after Wesley took a nap?'
