Chapter 372 The Real Culprit

Jenny suppressed her doubts and asked, "What about earlier? How did Nora misunderstand you again?"

Edric cleared his throat and explained, "Just now, after I ended the phone call, Anna suddenly approached and hugged me, saying a bunch of sentimental words. Before I could push her away, Dr. Smith saw us."

He tried to prove his innocence s he recounted the turn of events.

Edric's heart skipped a beat, and he involuntarily tensed up as he realized the gravity of the situation. He couldn't believe it - he had been telling the truth all along; he was innocent!

Nora was in the midst of drinking water when she heard his words, She placed her cup on the table and responded with a cold, dismissive laugh.

"If you don't want any connection with Anna, you shouldn't have seen her again after I caught you the first time!" Nora said in a cold voice, then glanced at Jenny, who had been quietly observing the exchange.

"Nora, what are you thinking now? You don't have to overthink things; I'm here for you, no matter what. If you don't want to continue with him, you can come with me," Nora said as she stood up and tried to take Jenny away.

Edric felt a surge of anxiety and called out, "Jenny!"

Jenny held onto Nora, "Nora, I... believe him!" she claimed.

Nora looked at her, pursing her lips without saying a word.

Jenny took a deep breath and smiled, "Nora, with Edric's background and appearance, even if he truly played around with women, he could just admit it directly. He doesn't have to explain himself to me so submissively, right?"

Hearing this, Nora frowned slightly, somewhat disagreeing, "Jenny, it's not like that."

"Nora, listen to me." Jenny interrupted Nora, "From the moment that Edric saved me on the cliff, I fell deeply in love with him. Of course, I believe that he loves me too."

"We haven't been together for long; our love should not have faded so soon. He wouldn't grow tired of me this quickly. I believe both times it was Anna who was causing the issues, and he was honest about it."

"Nora, Since I found such an exceptional man to be my partner, I should exhibit a certain level of understanding," Jenny responded.

"There will be many women vying for his attention. I can't control that, so I must focus on making myself better. That way, he won't be tempted to look elsewhere," she continued, expressing her thoughts coherently.

Edric nodded in agreement, impressed by Jenny's perspective, and couldn't help but give her a thumbs up. "Indeed, you are the woman I chose, broad-minded!" he praised.

Nora glanced at him with a cold look in her eyes betraying a hint of skepticism.

Edric paused for a moment, retracting his thumb awkwardly. His girlfriend's friend was fierce. He didn't know how his girlfriend could handle it.

Gratefully, he thought about how gentle Jenny was in comparison.

"Jenny, do you really think so?" Nora asked.

Jenny nodded and pulled her to sit on a chair. "But I'm truly touched; thank you, my best friend!" she said, thankfully. Jenny appreciated the kindness shown to her, recognizing the value of a friend's support.

Nora regarded her with a cold gaze and said, "You don't have to be so polite with me; it comes across as insincere."

Jenny laughed and playfully pinched her pretty face, urging her to smile, "Okay, don't be angry; give me a smile."

Reluctantly, Nora forced a silly smile, which amused Jenny, leading to shared laughter. Witnessing this exchange, Edric Edric felt a sense of relief as the tension dissipated, and a sense of harmony returned.

However, Nora set a clear boundary, stating, "But it can't happen more than three times. If you dare to meet Anna again and engage in any questionable behavior, I won't tolerate it."

Edric quickly said, "No problem, I will certainly avoid her when I see her in the future."

"I hope you can keep your word," Nora replied.

"Absolutely," Edric got up and poured her coffee, trying to please her.

Jenny smiled and asked, "Edric, what about your clients?"

Edric glanced at the time; his clients would be arriving soon.

He replied, "It's fine; I don't mind losing this deal."

While money may seem abundant, a loving wife is irreplaceable. He was unwilling to jeopardize his future with his wife for a fleeting financial gain.

Jenny's expression darkened slightly, looking at Nora, feeling a sense of melancholy. She began to question the compatibility between herself and Edric, sensing a growing distance between them.

And now, if Edric's business suffers because of her, she would feel even more guilty.
Being his woman, not only could she not help him, but she would also be a burden. How could she bear this?

Thinking about this, Jenny hesitated and said, "Nora, what if we..."She wanted to suggest bringing Anna back.
After all, Anna didn't mean anything to Edric.

"You keep quiet," Nora said to Jenny.

With Years of friendship, only one look was enough for Nora to understand Jenny's intentions.
So before Jenny finished speaking, Nora glared at her.

She had just sent Anna away; how could she possibly bring this troublemaker back? If she brought Anna back, wouldn't Anna be even more pleased? Then, she might find excuses to get close to Edric more often.

Jenny obediently closed her mouth.

Nora looked at Edric and asked, "Does your client really like Anna's band that much?"

Edric nodded and said seriously, "Yes, the guest's name is Kevin, from France. He has a bit of eccentricity, but he loves musicians. Ever since Anna's band became popular, he had become a big fan. He also has a wide a social network in his country, and I ran into trouble with a deal there, so I'm catering to his interests."

'So that's how it is,' Nora thought to herself.

Just then, a waiter knocked on the door and led the guests in.

"Sir, your guest has arrived," the waiter said.

Nora looked towards the door and saw several men in suits walking in. A forty-year-old man led them. He was tall and well-built, with deep facial features and slightly curled hair. He had the physical appearance of a mixed-race individual.

This person must be Kevin, Edric's client.

"Mr. Kevin, you have arrived," Edric smiled and got up to greet him.

"Edric," Kevin shook hands with Edric.

Nora and Jenny also stood up to welcome him.

Kevin's gaze swept over the two of them, "Edric, who are these two?"

"I would like to introduce my girlfriend, Jenny. And this is Nora, a friend of mine," Edric said.

"Hello, I'm Jenny."

"Hello, I'm Nora."

"Nice to meet you."

The three of them greeted each other, and Kevin appeared to be a gentleman.

Nora observed his face and noticed that it looked somewhat pale, with a hint of darkness under his eyelids. There seemed to be something wrong with him.

"Please have a seat," Edric gestured for Kevin and his companions to sit.

He then picked up the coffee pot and poured coffee for Kevin himself.

Nora said, "Edric, don't give Mr. Kevin coffee; give him some hot water instead."
Edric paused his action, feeling skeptical, and wondered, 'Why?'
Nora looked at Kevin, who also seemed confused, and asked, "Mr. Kevin, have you been suffering from chronic insomnia?"
