Chapter 789 Settled
Jenny straightened up a bit nervously. "I have my pride, too."
Nora was speechless. "Yeah, pride that just gets you into trouble."
Jenny pouted, "Nora, I'm already feeling bad enough, and you're still scolding me."
Nora replied, "I'm scolding you, so you'll think twice about your pride next time."
"Fine, from now on, I'll tell you everything at the slightest hint of trouble, pestering you throughout the day!" Jenny said.
Nora rolled her eyes at Jenny, smiled, and took out her phone to call Alex.
The call connected quickly.
"Mommy."
"Are you and Billy at the Gordon Manor?" Nora asked gently.
"Yes."
"Have you had breakfast?"
"Yes."
After exchanging a few pleasantries with Alex, Nora said, "Alex, I need your help with something."
"What is it?"
"Well, I need you to hack into a company's website."
Nora briefly explained the request.
For Alex, this was a piece of cake.
"Okay, Mommy, I'll do it right away."
"Thanks, honey."
Nora smiled and hung up, then looked at Jenny.
"You heard that? Soon, the news about Ursula being a mistress will spread throughout her father's entire company. The Bishop family and the entire high society of Youston will know about it."
"Good."
Jenny hugged a pillow on the sofa, feeling much relieved.
Nora added some coffee for Jenny and said, "You mentioned Ulysses earlier. Let me remind you, he has feelings for you."
Jenny took a sip of coffee, her eyebrows furrowing. "Nora, Ulysses and I are just friends."
Nora said, "It's easier to see things from the outside. The other night, you two were dancing, and if Edric hadn't shown up in time, Ulysses would have kissed you."
Jenny almost spat out her coffee.
"Nora, what are you saying?"
Seeing Jenny's shocked expression, Nora said, "Edric didn't tell you?"
Jenny frowned. "He didn't."
Edric had mentioned it yesterday.
But Edric had only questioned her, asking what would have happened if he hadn't arrived at the Hilton in time.
And Jenny, being angry at the time, hadn't thought deeply and had retorted back.
"So I think Edric wanting the company to terminate Ulysses' contract isn't entirely wrong," Nora stated matter-of-factly. "After all, you know how proud Edric is. How could he tolerate someone coveting his wife?"
Jenny furrowed her brows, taken aback by this unexpected twist in the narrative.
She hesitated for a moment, then defended Ulysses. "Maybe Ulysses was drunk and not in control of his actions. I never noticed he had any feelings for me."
Nora shook her head. "No, the other night, I specifically asked Ulysses if he liked you, and he admitted it."
Jenny gasped, her eyes widening, and she stuttered, "He admitted it? Didn't he know I'm married?"
Nora said, "I asked him that too. He said he doesn't care if you're married. He thinks you're unhappy and doesn't believe you'll stay with Edric forever."
Jenny felt a headache. "Nora, I didn't know; I really didn't know he felt this way. If I had known, I would have kept my distance."
Nora looked at her. "Therefore, are you still blaming Edric for terminating his contract? Should I tell Alex to stop?"
Jenny felt conflicted but then shook her head.
"No, while Edric has a reason to terminate Ulysses' contract, I'm not wrong either. Ursula is no different from Ulysses; she knew Edric was married and still pursued him."
"No, Ursula is worse than Ulysses. At least Ulysses doesn't pester me; we just get along well. Ulysses might just have a crush on me, but Ursula wants to replace me. Shouldn't I give her a warning?"
Hearing this, Nora didn't try to persuade her further.
"You're right; let's give Ursula a lesson."
Soon, Nora's phone buzzed with a message.
Alex: [Mommy, it's done.]
Nora: [Thanks, Honey.]
Nora smiled and thanked Alex, then looked at Jenny.
"Alright, it's settled."
Jenny immediately opened the Ford family website and saw a prominent headline.
[Shocking! Everlasting Skyscraper's heiress Ursula seduces a married man, utterly shameless!]
Below the headline were photos of Ursula and Edric entering and leaving a hotel.
Ursula's parents had divorced and remarried with others when she was very young.
Ursula was the eldest daughter of Enrique Ford, the current head of the Ford family.
Although Ursula had lived abroad with her mother and Yvette since she was a child, she was still the heiress of the Ford family.
Therefore, her chaotic private life would naturally affect the reputation of the Ford Group.
Nora patted Jenny's shoulder. "There's going to be a storm soon. Do you want to turn off your phone?"
The Bishop family would surely find out about this quickly.
With Edric's intelligence, he would definitely guess that Jenny was behind it.
Edric would certainly call to question Jenny.
"Why should I turn off my phone? I'm waiting for them to confront me," Jenny said.
Nora knew Jenny would say that and smiled, "Have you had breakfast?"
"No."
Jenny had no appetite for breakfast right now.
"I'll have someone send up some food. You need to eat to have the energy to work," Nora teased.
"Okay."
While Nora and Jenny leisurely had breakfast, Everlasting Skyscraper was in an uproar.
The entire upper management of Everlasting Skyscraper received the news.
The photos were clear, and anyone could easily identify Ursula and Edric.
Everyone was shocked that Ursula would become Edric's mistress.
Even more shocking was that the man was Edric.
High-level executives who befriended the Bishop family quickly got in touch with them.
The Bishop Group's executives received the news and informed Edward and Edric.
Edward looked at the photos on his phone, his face dark with anger.
"Who did this?"
Edric frowned, his handsome eyes narrowing.
He ran an entertainment company and knew a lot about paparazzi tactics.
But this didn't seem like the work of paparazzi.
After all, paparazzi were more interested in digging up celebrity scandals.
And Ursula wasn't in the entertainment industry.
Moreover, even if it were paparazzi, they would publish the photos all over the internet, not just upload them to someone else's website.
It must have been done by a competitor of the Ford family.
"Dad, has Everlasting Skyscraper found out where the photos came from?" Edric asked.
"I'll ask about it."
Edward went to call Ursula's father, Enrique.
Edric stared at his phone screen, deep in thought.
Soon, Edward came back. "Enrique said their tech department is already looking into the source of the photo. But strangely, they can't trace the source or remove the news. They suspect the company's computers might have been hacked."
